MudRunner82 Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Hey y'all. Got a problem. I bought a banshee a couple months ago and it was running fine. Took it out to Ocotillo Wells and played in the mud/sand for a day or 2 and it was running fine. The throttle stuck a few times (twist throttle) but managed to get it to stop. Haven't had a chance to clean it yet. (I will tommorow) I know it's bad joo-joo to do that but situation dictated. Anyways, I fired it up tonight, and it idles just fine, but when I try to get it to rev up, all it does is bog down. Any clue why it might do this? The engine is pretty much stock except for pipes/jets/air filter. I'd really love some help, I'm trying to get back to the desert this weekend again! Quote
1.6i Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 remove that t.o.r.s search it and youll see what im talking about Quote
AKheathen Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 (edited) remove that t.o.r.s search it and youll see what im talking about i thaught the tors circut was removed with twist throttle. anyways, if, forsome reason, someone spliced nthe thumbswitch wires together, and it failed, then it would cut the engine like a light switch whenever you bring it off idle. simply unplug the little box under the gas tank, on the left side of the bike, across from the coil. i would look into air leaks, or weak spark and welcome to the bhq  Edited January 13, 2009 by AKheathen Quote
Guest utleybanshee Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Emergency brake switch. x2 Quote
CBAIER1206 Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Check your emergency brake...follow the wires coming from your e brake lever on left side of handlebars down and there should be a plug, disconnect that plug and try it, got sand in mine a couple of years back and it caused it to stick so that might of happened to you, otherwise its the tors like said above... Good Luck Quote
jimbob Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 playing in sand and mud and wont rev? i'd go for a blocked main jet myself Quote
MudRunner82 Posted January 13, 2009 Author Report Posted January 13, 2009 If I got a main jet or something clogged, would taking off the air intake and shooting some carb cleaner down the throats clear it up? A little? Or would I be best just taking them off and pulling the bowls and stuff apart and being more thorough? I really appreciate the help everyone! (Anything more then 2 strokes, and you're just playing with it. Love that one) Quote

Love that one) no, you'll have to tear it down, pull thwe jet, and push the junk out, so you don't push it into somewhere else. the e-brake switch would let it rev to 2300 rpm's. idle shoud be around 1500 rpm's. if this sound's about right, then look into that switch. can you give it just a little gas, and slowly raise the rpm's? BUILDER Posted January 13, 2009 Report Posted January 13, 2009 Four to Score! 5x I highly doubt you have a plugged jet. Unplug you black tors box and the plugs on top of the carbs and the e-brake and i will problly be fine. Quote
MudRunner82 Posted January 13, 2009 Author Report Posted January 13, 2009 Hey guys, appreciate the help. Messed around with the parking brake (covered in dry mud, but gonna clean it tonight for the weekend trip to Ocotillo), and guess what, fired it back up, rev's just fine now. Back to the screamer it was a couple weeks ago. Thanks for the insight. I'm gonna look into the TORS and figure out what all the previous owner did to it and if I need to modify/change anything. Hey, on another note, anyone from the San Diego area going riding this weekend in Ocotillo Wells by chance? If so, let's meet up, tear up some dirt. Bunch of us camping this weekend. I'm stationed at MCAS Mirarmar. Quote
