Mjv420 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 Tore the bike down to clean it up a bit and added a couple new parts and it will not fire up now. Cylinders have 130psi each, 22cc domes Running stock carbs with 200 mains 0-500 ft asl, carbs are clean, choke tube is in place... I have spark on both plugs... When I initially got it back together it acted like it wanted to start but wouldnt, after awhile it didnt even want to attempt to start. Im trying rule out either a faulty stator or cdi, which is my best guess of what could be wrong... It will fire up if cylinders are primed, but will not stay running once its used all the prime.. I guess what im asking is how do I go about ohm'ing the stator to see if its working correctly, its a RS stator. I know the only way to troubleshoot the cdi is to try a known working one... Just getting some opinions before I start to go buy replacement parts... Quote
AKheathen Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 It will fire up if cylinders are primed, but will not stay running once its used all the prime.. there you go- all electronics fine- it's not getting fuel Quote
[email protected] Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 check ure crossover tube between the two carbs , not the one thats on the intake boots. but the actual tube between the carbs. Quote
firebanshee Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Make sure you have fuel in the tank and don't need to put it on reserve. If you do have fuel in it you can pull off the fuel hose and see if it flows out at the pet cock, if it does you could crack open the screws on the float bowls and see if you have fuel there. Quote
Mjv420 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Report Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks guys, The gas tank is full, the petcock flows, and the carbs have gas in the bowls, crossover and choke connecting tube are all installed... Quote
Mjv420 Posted January 3, 2009 Author Report Posted January 3, 2009 The chassis, all the motor got was a new topend. Everything is torqued to spec. Quote
mo-powah Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 i dont want to start a new thread so i wanna add to this one. My banshee NEVER starts. I always have to use starting fluid. I have MANY mods but i dont know what to do. i tried new jets but it didnt work. Quote
firebanshee Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Thanks guys, The gas tank is full, the petcock flows, and the carbs have gas in the bowls, crossover and choke connecting tube are all installed... I would pull the carbs apart and check the pilots to see if they are plugged, and clean the rest of the carbs and use alot of compressed air to blow them out. It doesn't take a very big piece of debri to plug the jets. Quote

Im going to put my older carbs back on and see what happens, because the carburator issue has kind've got me puzzled as of right now.. Quote
mo-powah Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 I will replace the pilot jets and check for air leaks. once it starts it idles fine yet really high and i usually only have to use starting fluid like in the begining of the day or if it has been sitting for a few hours Quote

Ok i was having this same issue with my stock banshee carbs. they were spotless through out and i just couldnt figure out why it wasnt started. then after searching around i found out that the carb bowls have to go on to spicific carbs. look at the front of your bowls with the carbs on the bike. the left carb with the choke plunger should have a bowl with a little brass bee bee looking thing on the front of it. this is kinda hard to explane. anyway, your left carb should have the bowl with the little gold bee bee looking thing of the front of it. if you look directly at the front of the bowl you will see it and know what im talking about. if it is on your right side carb instead of the left its like having no choke and it doesnt get enough fuel and willl never want to start. hope this helps. I will check that out, because otherwise it makes no sense to me why these carbs are not delivering fuel. Thanks for the reply's guys Quote
