rynophiliac Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 Hey guys i took my bike out the other day and my throttle started to get stuck a bit. it only seems to stick when its under load, if its in nuetral i havent gotten it to stick yet. but when im under load riding down a trail the engine rpm starts to climb untill it revs way up and i kill the engine with the kill switch, the throttle cable doesnt seem to be the problem because i can gun the throttle to full throttle and then let off completely and it seems to do nothing to the rpm when it gets stuck, it still slowly climbs up and revs out untill i kill it. im guessing it is inside the carb? maybe something is getting stuck open? any ideas? hopefully someone else hass had this problem and can steer me in the right direction. thanks alot Ryan Quote

If the carb tops are to tight the slides will stick open. It could be dirt in the slides. You also need to check for an airleak in the intakes. Pull the filter out and look at the slides and see if the drop down smooth. Quote
rynophiliac Posted December 27, 2008 Author Report Posted December 27, 2008 so ive been reading a few more postings and i need to add that i took my banshee through some small puddles and it has no air box, this could be the cause of the throttle sticking? Quote
shee4speed Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 pull the carbs and clean them really good. Then check it out. Quote
rynophiliac Posted December 27, 2008 Author Report Posted December 27, 2008 pull the carbs and clean them really good. I'm sure you'll see a stuck slide...you should clean out the whole carb. if you haven't done it lately...but you can just pull the slides out & clean them & the bore, dont lube them & don't over tighten the caps. JasonsBanshee Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 (edited) Clean the carb and slides with carb cleaner. If you lube the slides, lube them with two stroke oil. As soon as premix gas gets in there they'll get lubed anyways so it won't hurt to lube them. If you have TORS, be sure that the short throttle cables inside the TORS housings are not bent. (this one got me before) Replace the throttle cable. Sometimes the throttle cable frays inside the tube. Also, lube the throttle cable with good cable lube. Make sure it's not kinked or in a bind when putting it back on. Remove the throttle cover and make sure it's clean in there as well. That should eliminate every issuer possible with a sticky throttle. Edited December 27, 2008 by JasonsBanshee Quote

AKheathen Posted December 28, 2008 Report Posted December 28, 2008 the black coating on the slides is supposed to be a friction coating. i wouldn't suggest lubing them because strait oil is to thick and may collect any fujitive dust perhaps pledge would work Quote
