  1. So im currently running K&N's with old worn out outerwears that are stretched out and dont seal on the k&n's with no airbox. This is what came with the bike when i bought it. Evertime I wash it, even if i put a plastic bag over the carbs and air filters i always seem to get some water in there because when i go ride it the throttle stick for about 15 minutes. the problem im having is my bike will run like poo and then itll run great for awhile and then out of nowhere itll start running like crap again. Then itll gradually start running better and then its perfect again?!?! then maybe an hour later its back to running like crap?!?!? I am convinced its the crappy old filters letting crap in my carbs? I am looking to replace them and am just wondering if you guys have any advice as to what is the best filter system. I run mainly in dirt and in the dunes maybe once a year. I have always ran uni foam in the past and have loved them on my other quads, do they make a single uni filter over the two carbs or do i have to get 2 uni's? and ides or suggestions would be helpful. thanks Ryan
  2. Hey there guys, I have 64.5mm pistons, I was wondering how many more bores i have left on these cylinders? do they usually go in standard incriments of .10 over? how many over is my 64.55 mm right now? thanks for the help Ryan
  3. Ok guys, thanks for the help thus far on my bike. Im ready to get into some porting and polishing. I found a friend that is willing to sell me his head and i am wondering what this thing is worth so i can make him an offer. all of the parts are used and came off a good running bike. the whole unit comes with: 1. the head(looks aftermarket but not a cool head design) and has alittle bit of pitting in one of the domes 2. the cylinder which is ported and polished in feb of '08, the bores have some time on them but have a real nice cross hatch still and are bored to my exact piston size of 64.5 3. reeds, the cages are stock but not sure about the reeds themselves 4. boost bottle i am trying to figure out the price this unit is worth so i can make him an offer on it. also, i am hoping since the bore is 64.5 and my pistons are almost brand new (about 12 hours) i can just run a hone through the bores and throw some new rings on my pistons and call it good? and ideas or suggestions?
  4. hey thanks for the advice i think youre probably right. also, the previous owner has def over tightened the caps, because i cant get them loose. im gonna have to go buy a huge pair of plyers
  5. you mean take them apart and clean them in and out or just pull them off the intake and spray some cleaner around in there? i heard if i clean them im supposed to grease the slider with waterproof grease is this right? thanks again
  6. so ive been reading a few more postings and i need to add that i took my banshee through some small puddles and it has no air box, this could be the cause of the throttle sticking?
  7. Hey guys i took my bike out the other day and my throttle started to get stuck a bit. it only seems to stick when its under load, if its in nuetral i havent gotten it to stick yet. but when im under load riding down a trail the engine rpm starts to climb untill it revs way up and i kill the engine with the kill switch, the throttle cable doesnt seem to be the problem because i can gun the throttle to full throttle and then let off completely and it seems to do nothing to the rpm when it gets stuck, it still slowly climbs up and revs out untill i kill it. im guessing it is inside the carb? maybe something is getting stuck open? any ideas? hopefully someone else hass had this problem and can steer me in the right direction. thanks alot Ryan
  8. try this pic thing again
  9. Hey thanks for the ideas, these are all relativeley new to me cause im been a four stroke guy my whole life so if you could share alittle more info about each mod that would be great. the v force reeds i looked them up looks like they go for about $200, it looks like the bolt in between the carbs and the intake valve? I could be wrong. as for porting, how much does this cost? I assume i must have a shop do this? the FAST head, how much is that? also i looked up the timing thing and it looks like there are several options, what is the best route to take. Thanks alot for the info guys, also i would like to stay on 91 octane and it would be nice if i could still keep it starting first kick, so do any of these mods jepeordize taht? thanks alot for your help here is a pic: the one in the back ground is my roomates, its all stock except reeds
  10. Ok, so Ive always been a four stroke guy, just traded for a sick banshee. Took it out today and smoked everyone i raced, untill a 250r pulled up with a 330 sticker on the tank and he roasted me. I was just wondering what you guys recommend for quick easy hp gains for easy relatively low cost mods. heres what ive got so far 64.5mm Wiseco pistons Toomey T5 pipes +4 swingarm K&N filters ( with bigger jets) what else can i do to this machine to get it going faster?? All suggestions are welcome. g thanks alot
