I appreciate all the input on this, everybody. Plastic it is, then.

The T.M. saver does look solid, I was wondering why it costed more than the billet in the catalog. Thanks for posting the pic jbooker. I'll be getting one of those.

Brandon you bring up a good point with the weight savings. I've already added an aluminum stator cover which is heavier than the stock one, I should start considering weight as a factor on the things I'm adding on to the bike.

+1 to the plastic.

I have also heard bad things happening with the billet, as stated.

It seems to me the billet one is only going to transfer the impact, while the plastic will break before that happens.

I have run RK chains for years on two wheeled machines and never broke one. Ditto on running a cheap chain. The modded out machines will eat a chain in no time flat.

so i have always wondered how do you tell if your chain is wore out? i run renthals and change hem about every 2 years.. this is usually due to the swinger tensioner not being able to make anymore adjustments.

so how do you know when your chain is wore out?

Yep RK GB520EXW chain. It is rated at 8500 breaking strength.

The manual should have a spec for measuring the chain. I think they your supose to measure the distance from pin to pin.
