05.Banshee.SE Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 I hate...how all of my riding areas are being taken away, marked as trespassing areas, and having to run from the cops everytime I try and ride! I ride the same places I have been for years, that's not about to change now. Give us some fucking land to ride on, and there won't be any more problems!!! Every other recreationial activity around here has their designated areas where they are allowed to practice what they love. But you would swear riding a fourwheeler carries the same weight as murder. From here on out, there is no stopping for you assholes. Florida Fish and Wildlife, and Collier County PD is about to find out what Banshees are made of. Long live ATV riding, and even longer live the Banshee. [/End Rant] Quote
brugal Posted December 20, 2008 Report Posted December 20, 2008 Im glad I dont ride in Naples.Sounds like things are going to get H.O.T. Quote
regalrocket Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Up here in NYS it was never legal since I have been alive, but generally overlooked. A bunch of yuppies moved in, and now we have quad police patrols out to bust the few kids tooling around. These kids and a few adults are riding the same areas that are totally legal for sleds to ride on all winter, and they do a good bit of damage (I ride sleds also, I know) but for some reason the quads and bikes are evil. Total BS. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 all your doing by running is adding more fuel to thier fire Quote
elwilliams13 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I feel your pain bro! Have they sent the helicopter after you yet? Quote
jamebo Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 I know exactly what you mean about the lack of riding areas, I have to trailer anywhere from an hour to two hours to get to any good riding spots. Crazy part about that is, I was reading somewhere awhile back that FL was like the number 3 state for the most atv sales, yet one with the least public recreational riding land. I think California was #1 for sales followed by Texas. Quote
bbcmudtruck Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Post up pics of your mug shot when you get it! Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted December 21, 2008 Author Report Posted December 21, 2008 Well, when I was pulled over on my Big Bear (at the time I was 16 mind you), I was instantly accussed of stealing it. Then when they saw the number on the frame was chipped (it's in the left front wheel area, prone to rocks) they put me in handcuffs and tossed me in the car saying they were going to call my dad and he was on his way, and that he was pissed at me. I also offered for them to follow me home and I'd gladly show them the title and book for it...after I gave them all of the specs... 2001 Yamaha Big Bear 400cc 4x4 blah blah. 30 minutes later my dad is called, apparently they had someone elses dad? They told me I couldn't ride it home (like 1.5 miles) and I didn't have a phone to call anyone to tow me. They wanted me to push it home the whole way. I wear all the proper riding gear, ride off road, and chill when I'm near roads, and coast through to my next riding area. I don't ride in peoples yards and tear their shit up either...it's all private land, with no housing on it...it's just woods and sandpits for now. There's no construction, 0 signs, and I've been riding in this one area since 2003. (And I have talked to other people who actually lived here a while back...it goes back much further than 2003.) The county has been purchasing millions upon millions of dollars in land recently, and with every property purchase they sanction it as a reserve, or a state park, or something along those lines. This has already happened MULTIPLE times which they said "After the purchase, it will be designated ATV land" and they were going to open a park. However, once the lands acquired they shut it down. I don't think you'd see the whole picture unless you are from around here. At least some FL guys can agree with me here. The amount of money the county spends on buying and shutting down land, and outlawing 4x4s is disgusting. This is the same county that wanted to ban Hooters because it didn't fit the image of the city. http://www.naplesnews.com/news/2008/jun/09...park-immokalee/ EDIT- And there is no mug shot... I am currently 10 and 0. Squad cars can't go through beach sand, and nothing beats knowing your terrain. Quote
BansheeRider87 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 (edited) Squad cars can't go through beach sand, and nothing beats knowing your terrain. Dido to that! Iv ran a couple times and by knowing what trails bring you where makes a big difference weather you get caught or not. Sometimes its fun because of the russhh . Back when my dad built our house in 87 he bought a 1987 trx250r. He could ride for days and nights and then days again with no one saying anything or cops doing anything. We live in the country and lots of trails back then. No i cant even leave my yard without a cop or our new nabs, (docs and lawyer) complaining. I'm sorry you fucks but we were here first and Ill ride past your 750,000 house if i want to. Iv had a couple face to face incounters with these fucks and had the police come to my house about harrasment. Shit is stupid these days and as someone said before, selds have like a golden halo above them, but when the snow melts and the quads come out its like we ride with horns. csrmel Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 be careful posting things like that online. we all have had our fair share of great escapes. i have even mooned a few piglets. when they close down every place you have to ride, then you might as well go have fun and not care anymore about rules. nothing gets the adrenalin pumping like flashing lights behind you, or above you. 05.Banshee.SE Posted December 22, 2008 Author Report Posted December 22, 2008 Well, I don't do it purely for fun... in fact I'd rather not have to do it at all. (Yes, it is fun and gets the adrenaline pumping...but you shouldn't be evading pursuit, and it's dangerous for everyone.) All I want is some land to ride on LEGALLY. Once I have someplace to ride without being bothered, I won't bother anyone else either. But when you say I can't even ride across the street from my house....? Come on. It's become a matter of principle now. Quote
