robbo350 Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 hey all chasing some info on coolheads as i keen to purchase one?my engine is fairly standard besides pipes and the usuall extras and was wondering do i need to make any mods to the motor to fit one?also what size domes would suit a stockish motor cheers Quote
dajogejr Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Chariot and Noss both make a fine head. I personally like the Chariot for a few reasons. Less Orings, sleeker look and it's available in Chrome.... It's not like you're choosing between a yugo and a Porsche....these are both good choices and site sponsors. if you're at or near sea level, I'd get a 20 or 21cc dome to run on pump gas. Quote
dragbanshee Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Dave has spoken, basically all you need to know. Keeping your compression at 150ish and below will let you run pump gas, most anything above that will need to bump up to raising the oct. or race fuel. Quote
4stroker Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 your in australia right? get noss 19cc domes and run BP Ultimate 98 RON fuel. thats what we all run up here, exact same elevation mods etc etc... youll love it. Quote
JasonsBanshee Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Get the FAST head from Jeff. It's a Noss head. Quote
Keyser Soze Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Save yourself the trouble and have your head shaved. Benefits are the same. Minus the bigger cooling ports? Wont have to worrie about buying a $20 o-ring kit every time you take it off. Cheaper. Quote
jbooker82 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Wont have to worrie about buying a $20 o-ring kit every time you take it off. Cheaper. What is the difference between buying an O ring kit and Buying a head gasket? Quote
tapout94 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 listen to dave and buy the chariot... less o rings and less hassle! i currently have a pro design cool head, and will be making the switch to chariot. i wont make the pro design mistake again! Quote
Keyser Soze Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 What is the difference between buying an O ring kit and Buying a head gasket? You can reuse a metal headgasket...or at least I do.......Ive seen people use gasketmaker.......You can make your own paper gasket from gasketpaper...its really cheap Quote

The head gasket seals by being compressed. It wont come back to its original thickness when you take the head off. O rings will. josh Quote
4stroker Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 the most important part of an aftermarket head is the combustion chamber design of the dome you are going to use. in my experience noss are the best off-the-shelf domes. Quote
