acfine Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 I had minimum power-band, i just swapped the plugs, and the thing screams again! Looks like I'm fouling the plug on the choke side. But the side of the motor the choke is on, pops, but only that side. What does that mean? Any thoughts as to what would cause this? And it smokes like no other... PLEASE HELP! Thanks, Anthony Quote

Thanks, Anthony Make sure your choke tube is in place, "tube running from carb to carb" make sure you got plug wire back on good. And if that doesn't do it clean your carbs/jets. Quote

And if that doesn't do it clean your carbs/jets. I double checked the tube, it's in place. And made 100% sure the wires were on good. It's only the one side, and it has an odd popping from that side. Jets are new, and when I re-jetted it, I did a thorough cleaning. I'm running out of options. Could the Pilot jets being too small have any effect on this, or could I have just gotten a bad plug? dragbanshee Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 When did you last clean or put new jets in and did you put in new or clean the pilots? They clog very, very easily. Your stock pilots are fine, if they are clean. And just for the hell of it, you didn't by chance mix different types of oil in the same tank of gas? Just throwing out there! What about switching plug wires to narrow it down a little more, determine whether or not its electrical? What you think magz? Quote
acfine Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 (edited) whens the last time you did a rebuild? are you making good compression out of both sides? Never had one yet... And I'm not completely sure, I need to do a compression check. Where's the best place to buy the needed tool? Thanks a ton... Edited October 24, 2008 by acfine Quote

Jets, ummm, maybe a month ago. and yes, I removed both Pilot jets and they were cleaned and clear. I don't think so, I bought all the same oil, and get gas from the same plase as well, but I can't rule that out completely... I'll give that a shot, wish I would have thought that, then I'll be able to tell if the "popping" switches sides too... Thanks man! Quote

Thanks a ton... local auto parts store, their pretty cheap, maybe 25 bucks well worth it. see if you have a friend or family member who has one, make sure you have good compression. if you dont the bike wont sound or run right Quote
05.Banshee.SE Posted October 24, 2008 Report Posted October 24, 2008 Are your carbs synced? Is the bad sides slide plum? What are your air screws set at? The compression tool can be around $40-$65 @ Napa or Advance. If your check comes up bad, I'd get a check from another gauge to make sure. Quote
acfine Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 I'm gonna definately get the compression tool. Thanks to all for that advice. This may sound lame, but, how do I sync my carbs? Thanks, Anthony Quote
acfine Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 right here Thanks man! Quote
acfine Posted October 24, 2008 Author Report Posted October 24, 2008 After putting new plugs in, it ran like a sumbitch in a quick test. I just geared up, hit the trails, and about 10 minutes into it, it felt like my shee was at half power again, like when I fouled the first time... The plug is "oil fouled", am I running to rich? 50:1 with 300 mains 25 pilots, and the additional mods in my signature? This is killing me... Thanks, Anthony Quote

Thanks, Anthony I was wondering if maybe you could be a little rich with your mods, I wouldn't think it would be that rich. I cant remember but if you have a lid on or k&n lid, take it off and try running it. That will lean it out a little and see if that helps. Quote

I went back out, wiggled the plug wires, and it started running 100% again. I'm thinking it might be electrical at this point... Quote
