docjcwatson Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 whatever your budget is, plan on at least spending double that amount. It starts out fun and ends up being an obsession. That is the best advice I have heard yet. It's true. I just got finished getting mine ready. 3 months and in the vicinity of $13,000 later, she runs! I always loved the look of banshee's. So I stuck with a stock chassis. Mine was lightened by GT Performance from 46lbs to 26lbs though. Very competitive! Don't forget to let us know how it goes. Quote
bigboybanshee Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 If you give a "general" idea of what you want tips on, you're more likely to get some detailed responses. There are thousands of "tips" that can be given on setting up a drag bike. What do you want to know, specifically? Quote
OKCterror Posted September 2, 2008 Author Report Posted September 2, 2008 mainly motor setups and suspension Quote
kawiking Posted September 2, 2008 Report Posted September 2, 2008 do u want to run stock cylns,or cubs.... how much do u weigh ? is 3-4 grand out of your price range ? because thats what ur lookin at just to get started .... is this a drag only bike or drag/dune ? Quote
OKCterror Posted September 2, 2008 Author Report Posted September 2, 2008 i was trying to shoot for 5k, i weigh about 160 and do mostly dunes. Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 5k will get you a nice built motor, drag pipes, carbs, etc but won't have that much left to spend on other parts. Are you wanting to trench the cases and go with something bigger than a 4mill crank, are you keeping the stock cylinders? Quote
locogato11283 Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 going with a 4mm cub motor will save you a ton of money and time over a 7mm or 10mm.. the 4mm is bolt in and go.. Quote
XxMeltIcexX Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 yeah, your lookin at about 3 k for a done up roller, maybe a little more.... 4 k for a motor. Quote
OKCterror Posted September 3, 2008 Author Report Posted September 3, 2008 im actually just gonna try to make a stock looking banshee one fast bitch.lol. built up cub motor, longer swinger, and maybe some plastic work. Dont know yet. Seen alot of cool shees on here that im getting influence from. Quote
KaosBanshee44 Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 Longer swinger and plastic work doesn't make it faster  Quote
OKCterror Posted September 3, 2008 Author Report Posted September 3, 2008 i dont hope it would either, i just meant that i like how some people cut their plastics and added huge rear swingers. To me it gives it a stock yet kick ass look. Goin with a 4mil cub. Lighteneing the frame. Some stuff like that. Gettn a parts list from fast and other local shops and should be lookn to get a go on the project. Im taking my red 90 and am making it into the dragger then just buying a nice banshee from a local guy and setting it up for sand and local riding. Nothing to serious just a something to put around in then hop on the beast for a good ride. Quote
1996dragshee Posted September 3, 2008 Report Posted September 3, 2008 hope you've got some deep pockets..dragging is addicting lol Quote
