  1. Just be sure to let the dog off the chain before you go riding...
  2. A quick search turned up this: http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/cit_title/v_tit...w_vehicles.html http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/announce/yellow_policy.htm http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/cit_title/v_title_qna.html There is some more there if you click around enough... As for 2002 title bit... For $47 you can buy a copy of the 2002 Vermont Motor Vehicle Statutes from LexisNexis. Review it and see what the law is concerning titling of ATVs. See here: Lexis Nexis However: The case of Concord General Mutual Insurance Co. v. Woods suggests ATV registration was required in 1999. It seems logical that a title would be required for "registration" and this is proven in the more recent texts above (but not necessarily true in 1999). Let me know if this does or doesn't help...
  3. If you do this type of riding most would changing your gearing be appropriate? Set the ratio so that the engine doesn't have enough 'nads to top out sixth. Hopefully the chassis and the rider will be able to handle this speed safely.
  4. Well, I'm not sure about during, but after the party you could send them a bill for everything they ate, drank, screwed or broke. I don't know Joe personally, but for some reason I believe him. If it were anyone else I would suggest they spent the entire party in the women's restroom.
  5. You aren't going to woo many people away from here with a report on the Banshee. You probably couldn't even impress young boys. They are all into the new four-stroke stuff. Think about it. The Banshee is daddy's quad when he was a kid. How thrilled are your classmates going to be with that? Now, on-the-other-hand, if you really want to do a report that will impress young boys you need to consult Michael Jackson. I'm convinced he is an expert.
  6. Keep an eye on serial numbers. The last one made and the oldest one still in mint condition might be worth something someday. Then again I don't see any monuments to the Quadracer 250, 500, Tecate 4 250, or any of the other ATCs, Tri-Zs or Tecates. The Fourtrax 250R was carrying a premium price until the 450R was released.
  7. I'll bet Nyuk sees more used Banshees in a year than two or three dealerships see new ones! I wonder how many Yamaha has made and how many are left out there?
  8. That Banshee definately has a facial expression of sorts. It seems like it has a white/bright eye (black wouldn't really apply - now would it) too since the headlight cover is missing. As for your parts list - I think I have an owner's manual left over. I never read it either, but I'm told it says not to try stuff like this... Get well soon! -Bill
  9. I think you'll be fine.
  10. A lot of my friends have said the name is funny. They liken it to bondage. Maybe that says something about my friends?
  11. My sentiments exactly.
  12. I use Vonage and love every bit of it. Especially the $15 a month for 500 minutes anyplace in the country. I need high-speed Internet so I don't count that cost toward my phone bill. A couple of notes: 1. If moving your number from a legacy phone company expect it to take a while. The phone companies know your number is important. They have to move it. They don't have to be quick about it. Be prepared to file a complaint with your state's phone regulatory agency - then they jump on it extremely fast. Note however if you want to move back Vonage may not be bound by the same regulatory agency. 2. You will get more disconnects and such then before. Voice over IP is a new technology. There is something out there called SPIT - spam on intenet telephony. However, I've never once seen it on my Vonage system. Your high-speed Internet will probably go down when the power goes out. Don't expect to use 911 when the power goes out for this reason. 911 has some more limitations than with a regular phone company. You might even have to tell the 911 operator your address when calling in an emergency (be prepared to say your address when a murderer breaks in). 3. Everything else is E-X-C-E-L-L-E-N-T! The voice quality is louder/clearer. The price is cheaper. You can even take your router with you to another place with high-speed Internet and your phone goes with you. The !@#$# coolest feature that just plain messes with people's minds is the thing that rings your up to five phones with your home number. For example, I program my cell phone in. My cell phone literally works like a cordless phone. I only have to give out one number. People call my home number and it rings all my other phones - at the exact same time! Let me know if you have any other questions. I can say only great things about Vonage. -Bill
  13. If it is under the members section you have to be one to se'em.
  14. Those nylon tow straps have a pretty tensile strength, but it looks like it would cut the animal under the stress. I assume that's what you are talking about?
  15. The question is will he actually jump off it? BFS - did you ever accomplish that Banshee Backflip yet?
  16. It seems like there should be a referee in this game. I mean before the divorce.
  17. I don't have an account there. Why do you? If it's Banshee respect you want stay here. We all know and don't need any convincing...
  18. I'm not taking sides and I'm sorry if I offended anyone on YFZs with my post. I didn't mean it that way. YFZs do win most of the races.
  19. A local paranormal doctor was talking on the radio Tuesday night. He belives it is possible to make hurricanes. After listening to him I'm almost convinced myself. It stands to reason someone (perhaps a real world Dr. Evil or sorts) who would want to cripple the United States could be controlling these things (this year - perhaps not every year): I mean: 1. A couple of hurricanes hit Florida and the Florida pan handle. 2. Katrina hit from Mobile to New Orleans. 3. Next big ocean port is Savannah. The O-named one parked on it for a while. 4. Now Rita takes out the rest of the United States Gulf Coast. 5. Least we forget the one that hit Cancun. Even Dr. Evil throws a wild pitch or a gutterball sometimes. This has the strategic planning typical of an advanced military power... not the random characteristics of nature.
  20. To me crocs and alligators are the same thing - last I checked neither is a vegetarian. One or both existed in the back bay behind Keesler Air Force base (Biloxi, Mississippi). Or at least they did in 1992 when I was there. That's not far from New Orleans. It's close enough for hurricanes anyway.
  21. I was able to form a mental picture after the first guy explained. I laughed and grimmaced in sympathy pain at the same time. Obviously we all ride ATVs instead of trapping animals.
  22. Okay. Here is my observation and my suspision. Not necessarily in that order. You guys tell me why I'm seeing what I'm seeing: I don't think YFZs can start in gear. This type of race (read on) gives the Hondas an advantage. I've been to about a 6-8 hare scrambles this year. Most of them use a "rider on-board, engine off" start. I consistently see electric start bikes sitting on the line a second or two after others have launched. Not all electric start bikes. And I'm not advocating that the 450Rs always get the hole shot. I'm just saying that kick start seems to have perhaps a 1-2 second advantage in this kind of start - unless you can't stow the kicker quickly or the bike doesn't fire on the first kick. Since the 450R is the only four-stroke kicker I have never yet seen a four-stroke kicker left on the line. I have witnessed some 250Rs and Banshees requiring a few kicks and a lot of Quadracers and Blasters pushed back to the pits. Keep in mind the kick-start bikes are allowed to be off the seat, kick-starter extended and their foot on it ready to go. The electric start bikes are sitting firmly on the seat - some in an aggressive "stance" position - seconds before the starter drops the flag. It almost seems like the electric start bikes are required to have their ignition keys off as a handicap to the kick-start bikes. The strange part is the Z400s, KFX400s and Predators have electric start, but they seem to just dump the clutch and go.
  23. I agree. The owner's manual of my '03 states the bore and stroke is 64 x 54 and there are 2 approximately identical cylinders. 1. 64 mm bore / 10 = 6.4 cm bore 2. 6.4 cm / 2 = 3.2 cm cylinder bore radius. 3. 3.2 cm squared = 10.24. 4. 10.24 x 3.141523 = 32.16919552 cc without the stroke. 4. 54 mm stroke / 10 = 5.4 cm bore. 5. 5.4 cm bore x 32.16919552 cc bore area = 173.713655808 cc per cylinder. 6. 2 cylinders = 347.427311616 cc Now if he is bored .065 inches over and has a 4mm stroker kit: (I'll save you the math) Displacement would be 392.663861265288767 cc If he had some special ultra-thick heads with no water jackets and could REALLY bore .65 over (since everything is correct): Displacement would be 590 cc.
  24. My '03 was red/black. Same year a slightly more expensive LE edition was Yellow/Black with a black frame (maybe powder coated?). This is going to be a longggggg list.
  25. This thread would have been more efficient as a poll or "voting thread". The 250R for quadcross. The Banshee for all around sports ATV. Yamaha should get some credit for not wimping out on the sport market like the others in the early 1990s. A lot less lawyers or a lot more Americans with personal responsibility and ATV history would have been something completely different. It disgusts me to watch pro arena-cross dirt bike races. Not only are the four-poke bikes almost twice the displacement of the two-strokes, but it often seems the course is loosely packed. The net effect is the four-strokes accelerate more slowly (but smoothly) and beat the two-strokes which break loose when the power comes on two quickly. -Bill
