Fastest u ever went on land
Cotton eyed Joe replied to sweetshee4312's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Car- 125 Actually in 2 different cars, in the same situation, at the end of an on ramp. One was my dads 77 vette (he was driving) one was in my wifes 94 Z-28. I was passenger in a Porche (can't remember the numbers...929??) going 0-60-0 in my highschool parking lot. Bike- I have no idea probably 90-100 on the back with my dad driving (probably around age 12) Quad- apparently 63 out on the flats of St Anthony -
What a bunch of fuckers. Why do they even allow you to register your atv's then?? Where does that money go? When you register your car, essentially you are paying for the roads, signage, etc...plus its just money in their pockets, but when you get charged to register an ATV in the state of NY, and there are no places to ride, isn't that a little like taxation without representation? Instead of dumping tea in the harbor you should ride wheelies down the street.

Move out west. At least here we have groups like the ASA counter suing the hippies that close our riding spots. Hell, here in Utah, there are only a few places that are actually closed. I don't know about any of the trails, but out in the sand, and the west desert you can ride anywhere you want with the exception of the Hill AFB bombing range. The have unexploded orndinance in the sands n stuff.....might go boom.

Stan: If SOMEONE had his water pump covers done... I wouldnt have had that "other" one on there! hehe As for the mag....... Do you remember Mike Lyons that was there at RF? He was riding the new TRX450 and his 330-350pv R? He was 2 or 3 trucks-motor homes down from us on the right (facing us) Well............ I've known him via the net for almost 8-9 years. We met several years ago and have been friends since. (he is one of the www.sandbros.com) Well..... he writes all the atv related articles for sand addiction, and has been part of atvconnection.com too. After he saw the pics of my bike and knew that I was bringing it out for RF... he wanted to use the time he had to get someone out for photos (Ash's raptor, Jeff's 450r, and my banshee) and would write the article(s) later. So there was really nothing "I" had to do. As for sandsports...... I've never heard much about them or the people that write their articles... I could get you in touch w/ mike if you are still interested... Eventually, as that would kick ass. I dunno, Sand Sports is starting to sort of Sand Suck. AND I'm starting to have a bitch of a time finding it in the stores. I've missed the last 2 or 3 issues, and I haven't missed that many in nearly 5 years. When the time comes I'll give a shout to you Walt.
-
Damn nice Walt!! AND if I hadn't got there just as you were coming back I would have willingly GIVEN you every thing I had on my bike lol..... BTW..I meant to ask you, but how did you swing getting your bike in this magazine?? I've contacted Sand Sports a dozen times asking the same thing, and even asking about advertising, but they never once have returned my emails.
-
We were looking at Sand Addiction Magazine out at St Anthony's and I told Oilsmoke that they were taking Walts Bikes picture out at dumont back in March for the issue....We didn't see it...I wonder if we were looking at the last issue or something... Walts bike is amazing in person.

I'll go check my garage, but I think it went out when I got rid of the air box 6 years ago. Who knows...I still have the stock nerfs, pipes, ......got some stuff clogging up the garage that is worthless to me that needs a good home. NOPE! Stock pipes, stock boots from the air box to the carbs, stock heat shields, nerfs and floor boards. SOL man...I asked my wife about the one we had for her banshee, and I guess she sold it with the bike.

Barnettyoudont get it together!

Looks like its official. Lose the rings. I think the stock plates are the only ones that use them. -

Yeah they do! I was revving mine. It was only running on one cylinder, so I doubt it was over 4-6 grand. I heard it snap when I touched it. I was also touching the thumb throttle, and with those billet grips I use, it was a no brainer....ZAP! -
The most powerful engine in the world.

Plain, thin shell bearings, made of an alloy of tin, zinc and antimony. Cool!!! My dumb ass was looking for needle bearings with the needles the size of a log. -
Why didn't Yamaha add oil injection systems
Cotton eyed Joe replied to xt45's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Yeah what they said. My sister used to have a blaster, and I don't know if it was mechanical or what , but when you would take off that damned red light would light up. Who knows if it was getting oil or not. We assumed it was. It would also light up for no reason. Thats the biggest bitch is you have to depend on a mechanism to dispense the proper amount of oil per gas amount fed into the engine. When you mix it, you KNOW its there in the tank waiting to be burned. -
With tooling and fixturing, it can get REALLY expensive. For example, for my billet bearing carriers I make, I had to buy a $700 indexable drill. It uses carbide inserts to cut that material. Its 1.6875 in diameter and has a length of cut of nearly 6 inches. The pie jaws I bought to hold the aluminum stock were over $200.00. Then it took nearly a day (at $75.00 per hour shop rate) to cut the neccesary offset in those jaws because I had to bolt the jaws to the chuck, then take the chuck off the lathe and put it in the mill, and I had to have a fixture to hold the chuck solid and square in the mill....and the chuck weighs in at over 200 lbs. For those cases, you have to hold them some how, and a vise isn't gonna cut it. You have to bolt the part down to a plate of steel, and it has to be accurite and precise, and repeatable. We make a fixture for a company once to hold something they needed held. It turned into a $10,000 job. They made 1000x that from our jig though. The cases are also deep, no matter how you hold them. You can't just stick a long endmill in there, it has to be larger in diameter to be long. Rigidity is everything. AND if you have a long endmill, you can't cut with it super fast. It will shatter.

LMFAO cool...just PM me a price when you get er done. I'm done riding for the year I think, so I got time to put it on n stuff. Thanks.
-
Also, this very problem you described (at idle it dies but will idle at 1/8 throttle) could also be the pilot jet is too small. I've had both happen to me, and the first time it was the pilot, the second time was the TORS. lol....
-
If I could do it, I would...lol...There is no way in HELL I could even get an endmill down in there to do it with my current set ups. I would LOVE to see these peoples shop in person. I would love to be able to just make cylinders or heads even. I'll be lucky to get a light weight shift lever done this year.

 I wish shit like that could happen around here. The cops would have shot you off of your bike around these parts. Great story!!!!

LMFAO great visual. On that note, what do the main bearings look like???? -
Question on Needle being too lean
Cotton eyed Joe replied to BitchenBanshee's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Damn right. My needles were TOO rich this last weekend at the dunes. If I ran at 1/2 throttle, it would start to bog...then it would literally chug at idle until it cleaned out..then it was fine. With these stock carbs it takes me over an hour and a half to change the needles...... I really liked Fixitrods carbs...what was it, 10 minutes maybe? -
anybody crazy enough to take a shee muddin
Cotton eyed Joe replied to MudSlinger09's topic in General Banshee Discussion
lol...where??? Mine hasn't seen mud but once....salt marsh at that....any one that has ridden in salt marsh can tell you what a power robbing bitch it is to ride in, then you have to wash that shit off before it becomes concrete. Never again. -

To make a triple, I think you would need to chop 1/2 of a case off from another bike, graft it onto the current case (no idea what side) and then bolt another cylinder on. I'm sure the crank is either custom, or a retrofit from a triple snow mo bile perhaps. The tough part would be getting 1: And air tight weld between the case halves 2: getting proper alignment on the crank journals...I think it would have to be line bored anyway. 3: getting all the proper ignition shit together to fire 3 cylinders. I've seen 4 cylinder banshee engines, where there are 4 in a row!! I can't remember the company right now...I think it might even be that monsterquads.com They offerend 3 and 4 cylinder versions.

Why not buy the one good thing from Canada? No honestly what else comes from Canada? I don't mean that badly I just can't think of anything. Crown Royal isn't that Canadian? Brooke do you listen to alot of talk radio or are you just well informed? If so who? Just curious. This abortion thing I am very firm on even though I used to think differently. I used to believe that why is it up to me to decide for someone else unless I was the father of the kid? But since then I have realized that I am for "pro choice". I think you have the "choice" to have sex and live with the consequences or to not have sex. The only time I can see that an abortion is ok is for rape or incest and I think it should be done as soon as possible not this waiting nine months for the head to come out and then killing the baby, yes that is killing you just ended a life. I consider life when something is growing and from conception (I guess I agree with Kerry on something) on a baby is growing, stopping that growth would be killing correct? Has anyone tried to get the swift boat vets book Unfit for Command? I'd really like to read it but I have tried every book store and get the same answer "We had to copies but they are sold and we won't get anymore until September 1st" as I look around the stores I'm sure I can count 150+ books with Blowjob Billy Clinton's face on them. I ordered it from amazon.com can't wait to see if I agree with it. Lmfao about the Clinton comment. His books are loaded on the shelves at the Wal Mart stores here..... HAHAHA Blowjob Billy... If you or I lied to a grand jury about anything......ANYTHING......we'd probably still be in prison, not collecting a check. When you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth....you are bound to do it regardless of what is asked, unless the judge interviens and says its irrelevant. The guy makes me sick....and there is a girl at my gym that tried talking me and my buddy into being a Democrat.... She actually said Clinton was the best president ever because "He just knew how to mix business with pleasure" WTF WTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTFWTF and then she basically lambasted Bush over that scene in the fakeumentary when he's playing golf, and WASN"T having a press conference.....he was playing GOLF...mixing his business with pleasure....Its not like he was hiding out somewhere neglecting his duties getting a knob job and wasn't able to be found in a time of need.....he was on a golf course....and he was easily found.... by reporters no less, that were let on by the Secret Service... the man is accessable. Clinton should be in prison. Sorry for the rant. I just can't stand people like Clinton. He's toooooo slimey for me. But if you want to really get me pissed off....mention his god damned wife....

Yes sir we do. I am part owner of a family machine shop, and am looking at buying it out completely in the next 5 years or so. I don't do a ton of air craft type stuff, but I do make alot of spindles for roller coasters, which as anyone should know, is a highly critical part. 0% rejects in 4 years. We do R&D work, tool and die, prototype, production, maintanence, fabrication, you name it. Hell we quoted a job where they needed us to cut up 8" diameter billets. Our mantra is "We don't turn much down." lol...we've made our living on doing stuff other shops don't want to be bothered with. Right now we are a 2 man operation in a 4000 square foot building with 8 machines. At one point we had 4 people in the shop working, but times changed, and so did we. We have 2 CNC mills, 3 CNC lathes, technically 2 manual lathes, but one is for parts finishing like polish and paint, 1 horizontal mill, and a 16" OD/ID grinder. Then we got all the other stuff, MASTERCam, 2 saws, 3-4 drill presses, 2 sanders, air tools, all inspection tools, digital mics that have .000050 resolution...etc...etc...etc.. but we are in no way a big shop. Quite small in terms of annual gross. I started making parts for the Banshee about a year and a half ago, mostly for the experience of starting a business. I am years from breaking even on my inital investment, but its been fun as hell, and the challenge of building something without buying the competitions parts and just copying it is almost addictive for me. I also plan on starting a 3rd business fabricating ornamental items on a custom basis later on this year, possibly at the beginning of the next tax year.
