  1. If you read the rest of my posts, you would've seen that I said I thought the jetting was stock because I hadn't yet taken apart the carbs. I just did that this morning and learned that they are 270 jets. I don't have an air box lid and just a single K&N cone filter. I was told by a friend of mine that it was running rich because of the power surge and that I didn't need to choke it on a cold start. Also, when I started leaning it out I was making more and more power the leaner I went
  2. The air screws are 1 turn out now. I already posted the answers to your other questions. Also I forgot to mention that the throttle valves were WAAY out of sync. The right one was 1/4 of the way open before the left one even moved. I got those synced up perfect and it helped quite a bit with the low end dogging, but its still there a bit. What I mean is, I can hear the deep sound of the engine drawing in air and bogging slightly when I floor it in the low rpms.
  3. I just got done workin on 'er. I took the carbs off and apart, cleaned them out thoroughly and put them back on. The main jets are 270s, I'm guessing that's too big for my engine correct? I also removed and cleaned the spark plugs as well as re-gapped them(they were up at .055 :0 I put them down at .030). All that made enough difference apparently that I had to completely change my idle screws because it wouldn't idle without stalling.
  4. I'll just take pictures of all of it lol. I want to get this power band issue sorted out before I go hitting the trails because right now it would not only be annoying, but also dangerous if the power comes on that hard at the wrong time, it could flip me
  5. Well I'll find out tomorrow morning. I've set aside 4-5 hours to work on the banshee so I'll take the carbs and reeds off an give them both a good cleaning as well as disassemble the carbs
  6. My air screws are 1 1/4 (one and a quarter) turns out right now. I will take apart the carbs soon, probably tomorrow morning if I have time. I'd do it tonight but I don't have a garage or shed, and I don't feel like working by flashlight in the 34 degree rain haha
  7. I didn't change the the jets out, I just been using the adjusting screws. It's been helping with the dogging in the low end but I'm worried to go any leaner and damage the engine in the high rpms.
  8. My apologies, I thought the "My banshee" box would show on the thread page. My motor is brand new, was just built before I bought the banshee. It has "true welded crank and rods, wiesco pistons, new crank case, tors eliminator kit, stock reeds and carbs, FMF Gold pipes" As far as I know the jetting is stock as well however I haven't had a chance to disasemble the carbs for cleaning and inspection yet so I'm not 100% sure
  9. Hi all, I'm Dylan. Been riding a couple banshee occasionally for a few years now but just recently was able to get my own. I fell in love with the banshee as soon as I sat down on a friend of mine's. Anyway, I just got my banshee, and I've been working on the tune. It was running WAAAYYY rich at first, and had bad gas in it. I drained the old fuel and put in fresh stuff, doubled the power easily. Then I started leaning it out because it was bogging down low reallllly bad but in the higher rpms it suddenly hit a massive power band. I'm running pretty lean now, and it seems good. I'm making a lot of power in the high rpms, so much so that it does a wheelie without popping the clutch even in 3rd gear. My questions are, is that normal or is it running wrong? (the other banshee I've ridden a few times NEVER had enough power to pull the front wheels without popping the clutch and didn't hit as large of a power surge as mine does, so I really have no idea here) And what reeds (and/or other mods) would be good to make some more low-end power for trail riding but not sacrifice my high rpm power? P.S. I did do a search of the forums here and couldn't find any that answered my specific questions, so if this is an unnecessary thread.
