  1. My banshee didn't come with a key and it was previously bypassed so it would still run. I got a new key and ignition switch but I'm having trouble figuring out how to undo the by pass? The switch that was on the quad has a 4 wire square plug and my new one has a 2 wire? It's a Yamaha unit so I'd believe it's correct. Also my quad has 4 unused female plugs right now that someone had electrical taped up. 3 two wires and one 3 wire triangle plug, all female.
  2. I mean the banshee my friend has doesn't act like mine does where the discs stick together like you said. His can be cold started in gear with the clutch in
  3. Still doesn't explain the issue I'm having with my banshee's clutch, or why the one my friend has, acts like a manual shift car
  4. Theoretically, they shouldn't need to warm up right? If the clutch is fully disengaged, then the quad shouldn't jump or kick down or do anything when you put it in gear. The only other banshee I rode worked that way. I would guess that is the proper way for them to work just like a manual car, clutch fully on and fully off respectively.
  5. I'm pretty sure we're on the same page. Also, it seems to be temperature related somehow. Like if the thing is completely cold, it'll stall in gear even with the cable loosened. But once its sat there in neutral for a couple minutes and warmed up, it doesn't. I understand mechanically how the transmission works and everything but this has me bewildered
  6. Yeah, I know that's how it should be but when I adjust it that way, the engine stalls when I put it in gear
  7. Okay I did that, and when I push the arm to it's stopping point, the arrows are lined up.
  8. Update: I've got the clutch cable unscrewed from the perch as far as I can without using a pair of pliers and the clutch arm is lined up with the arrow already, like without me pushing on it, it's already there.
  9. OHH its just the handle/lever. Okay so just unscrew it from there all the way and then do the arm thing with the arrows?
  10. Yes, and I don't know if this is normal but I can only push the arm about a quarter of an inch before I get resistance and the arrows line up.
  11. Alright, I'll check into them. If you're just as knowledgeable about the clutch/clutch lever on the banshee, could you respond to my other thread I posted earlier?
  12. They actually don't carry jets he said. I'll have to find them online
  13. Wait, actually I just remembered there is a Yamaha dealer about 25 min away from me. They should have them right?
  14. Unfortunately no, the only local shop I had went out of business a couple years ago. Where is a good place to get them online?
  15. It's 25 my apologies. There was a little smudge or something that looked like a point
  16. Yes and I took that little thing off. Is the pilot jet the little tiny thing waaay down in that hole?
  17. I've got the carb off and apart here and I'm not sure what exactly you're talking about. I went ahead and took a few pictures in hope that they will help, but I don't know how to post them in the thread here.
  18. Alright, thank you, that is making more sense to me. I will go do that real quick.
  19. Hi all, I'm having a strange issue with my banshee. I just got it, and it has a new clutch. For some reason, when I adjust the free play in the clutch lever to the owners manual spec, it stalls when I put it in gear with the clutch pulled all the way. But, when I set the free play in the lever WAYYYY out of spec, it doesn't stall like that. (I'm talking being able to pull the clutch half way before there's any resistance at all) Also, no matter what I do, the quad jolts slightly and idles down when I put it in gear like an automatic car/truck. Any help is appreciated
  20. I apologize if I didn't say it or make it clear, but I am new to working on banshees. This is my first one, I just got it last Sunday. I'm very familiar with riding them, just not with the tuning. Anyway, I've got it running really strong now, I'm actually staggered at how fast it is for being a stock bore and stroke. It only dogs when I floor it in gear just off idle but that only lasts like half a second then its pulling so hard the front wheels are in the air, or the back wheels are spinning. Does that sound pretty good for what I have? Also, it's worth noting that I'm not looking for the bleeding edge of performance here. I just want it to be fast enough for me, running correctly, and decently reliable. I don't want to be pushing the engine so hard that it's liable to randomly break itself in the middle of a normal ride.
