  1. Yes it is grounded under the voltage regulator to bare frame
  2. Yes, I have spun the engine over numerous times with plug grounded to a head stud.. No arc. It is also grounded as it should be underneath the voltage regulator. The quad was bought not running and has never had fire.
  3. It has one of my old stators with an adaptor on it. The stator is still good, it fired the last time I had to use it. It is an OEM yamaha stator.
  4. I have trimmed be plug wires and put them back, no luck. & that's what I meant by "zeroing out"... Sorry for the confusion. The only reason I used an aftermarket cdi is because that's all I had available for that year model banshee (92 with the circle plug harness)... A friend didn't care if I pulled the ends off to see if that corrected my problem. I have 3 other banshees, but all of them have the newer style harness
  5. Hello, I have a 92 banshee in front of me. Buddy bought it with the guy saying it had no spark. Got it home and tested the on and off switch, kill switch, stator, ignition coil, swapped a cdi with an aftermarket one , set pickup gap, swapped flywheels, checked ground on voltage regulator, and tested for resistance on every wire in the harness itself. All wires zerod out (0.00). Does anyone have any recommendations??
  6. My billet impeller should be in today but I have figured out the issue. Ended up being the ignition coil. I swapped with another quad and it ran perfect
  7. Will do, I will get back once I find something out
  8. Funny that you ask about overheating... the last ride I took it on to try to test the jets I noticed a little bit of coolant on the swingarm coming from the hose on the overflow bottle. I also noticed a faint smell of coolant, I'll go check the coolant in a few minutes. But I ordered a chariot billet impeller today because of what I noticed, I'm 100% positive it's a stock impeller in the water pump but not sure of the condition. Dumb question, but could that cause my issue? I have a stock woodruff key and flywheel, mix 32:1 with yamalube 2R, and full engine is 64.75 bore and pistons, 115psi compression last time I checked, stock stroke aftermarket crank (not sure of brand, bought it with it in it), stock head, Toomey T5, boyseen reeds, pro design intake with boost bottle eliminated, stock carbs, airbox w/o lid and k&n. Thanks for the reply!
  9. Thanks for the reply, but no I haven't. I believe the problem is a lean issue so I haven't backed down on jetting, only up. I have cleaned carbs well. I have thought about swapping coils but still wouldn't my plug be wet if an electrical issue was present?
  10. For the last few months I've been having issues with getting full power out of the 3/4 to WOT range. It begins to sputter as if it is lean. Last weekend I did a leakdown, and had a airleak between the cases. I sealed that up and replaced the seals while I was there. Got bike all back together, did a leak down, 100% sealed up.. 6lbs for 6 minutes (didn't drop a bit). Took it for a ride and it was doing the same thing. I'm at roughly 600ft elevation, and the temperature here is around 75-90°f. It currently has 32.5 pilots, needle in the middle position, and 330 mains. Did a plug chop and the plugs were completely white as if NO fuel was getting there ( I had 310's in at the time)... not much better with the 330's. so I swapped carbs with someone else with 27.5 pilots, needles in middle position, and 300 mains and I had a verrry light brown reading on the plug... best I had gotten so far. So I swapped in my 330 mains into those carbs and once again it was back to white.. I'm frustrated and stumped. So far I have adjusted my float level to the proper setting, checkedy carbs for cleanliness, looked at reeds for cracks or gaps through the intake ( looked tight with little wear ), replaced crank seals, and I will be putting some huge jets in tomorrow or Thursday to see if that gives me a reading... does anyone have any advice on what the hell could be going on?? I'm fairly stumped. Modifications I have are factory air box without lid and a K&N, stock carbs with stock tors (unhooked), pro design intake ( ditched the boost bottle though because it went through grommets every week), stock stroke crank, 64.75 cylinders, stock head, 115 psi compression, Toomey T5's.
  11. Just had an engine rebuilt, bored next size up on stock cylinders, Aftermarket hot rods stock stroke crank, Vforce 4 reeds, upgraded boss intakes with no crossover, 35mm khenin PWK carbs that came with a 160 main (unsure of the pilot at the moment), and an airbox without lid w/ K&N. Leak tested engine and it passed. Where is a safe place to start for the jetting? I'm at 680' elevation and the weather here now is about 32-55. Any advice appreciated
  12. working on a banshee for a buddy that is 2002 according to the frame, but it has an older round style harness (87-94). The engine connector coming from the stator has the white square plug like a newer one (such as an 02)... Therefore the bike has no power from the stator cause it can't plug in. The guy he bought it from said it was a ground up build and has never been started because he had " a few minor things left to do". My question is would a stator with an older plug style work on this newer engine? Or should he just get a whole new harness, cdi, regulator, etc?
  13. For the past few months it hasn't been riddden, just started and gassed to try to see if it's grounding out on something
  14. And I it takes different amounts to kick when it's cold day by day... Some days it's 2 some days it's 12. The ground is good and the wiring harness looks intact
  15. We built my brothers banshee a while ago and it's been doing a weird cutting in and out like it's losing spark every now and then. But now it's doing it every time you hit the gas, especially when it's cold. If it's cold and does it, it will not cut back on for a few minutes. I am led to think that the stator is dying? Anyone else had this problem or can give me me some info on what they think is happening?
  16. From my view, the holeshot tires I have run smaller than the ambushes cause they make it look like I have 19s or something on the front. I'll post a pic when I get to it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. That handles good on wooded areas, mainly for trail riding
  18. Any good reviews of some tires that will match the size of some 20" ambushes? Preferably slightly bigger so she squats a little. I came from 18' mxr6 holeshots and that offered little ground clearance. But also have 21' holeshots on the front and those new ambushes make them look really really small and stupid. Looking for a bigger tire for front, any suggestions? Thanks
  19. Do I need widened a arms too or just the suspension? I've been lookin for some shocks and a arm deals on eBay and in my area on craigslist.
  20. Thanks for the piston series numbers! & currently it is, I'm planning on putting a +1 or +2 roundhouse swing arm and widened axle. I won't have any suspension upgrades until I find some for a deal..
  21. And are there specific pistons required for the 4mm stroker crank? Thanks, just trying to get this 4mil build done right the first time. This is my first 4 mil build.
  22. I'm considering 4 milling my 02 shee in the near future. I'm posting to see what all everyone recommends, I've read through some forums but they didn't have all the info I needed. My current plan for it is to go with the 4mm stroker hot rods crank, 35mm pwk carbs, vforce 4 reeds, pro design cool head, and port work. Anything else that you guys know of that will give me the most power out of my shee while still running 93 pump will be greatly appreciated. I'm mainly gonna use this quad as a trail bike and occasionally a mx quad. What port would best accompany these types or riding? And what size domes should I go after? My elevation is around 600ft I believe, might be 650ft.
