  1. Wow, that place looks amazing! I'd love to bring my truck and the quad out there!
  2. KT, do you still have the Coolhead? Is it a Pro Design or compatible? Thanks.
  3. OK, so I got my Serval kit from M&M. Beautiful kit, talked to Andy and he's a great guy, more than willing to chat and answer questions. Anyway it's a top end kit with a 4 mil crank and I already have a cool head. However, my existing engine is recently rebuilt and it runs great! It seems like a shame to take it apart to build the Serval. So, should I: 1. Just build the Serval with my engine and sell the stock crank, pistons and cylinders. 2. Buy another bottom end and another cool head, build the Serval with that one and sell the complete stock engine. 3. Buy another bottom end, build the Serval with that, swap on my cool head, buy a stock head for the stock engine and sell it complete. Thanks for the ideas!
  4. Hungry, going to McDonalds...

  5. Sounds like a plan! Hopefully the stars will align and I can make it.
  6. Thanks for the replies. I took the cover off the throttle assembly and made sure there was about 1/8" of slack in the cable. Then I snugged the carb tops down. (They were loose) After that, I screwed the TORS idle screws in all the way, warmed it up and did a few runs around the lower front yard to get it up to proper operating temp. When I stopped this time, the idle was holding at about 2500 RPM so I started backing the idle screws off bit by bit until the RPM's started dropping. However, when the RPM's got to a certain point (still too high) further adjustment caused the engine to suddenly drop to a low level and stall. I kind of went something like 2500, 2400, 2300, 2200, 2100, 2000, 900... And I couldn't make it fall anywhere in between. I may just live with it idling at 2000 RPM until I do the TORS-ectomy. I also have a fuel leak from the bowl drain line so I'll have to address that as well as removing the vestigial Boost Bottle!
  7. Yeah, I know the TORS is born of the Devil. I just want to make it work until I do my major upgrades next Summer.
  8. Guys, I don't typically let the engine idle but recently, I've been idling a little to warm it up before riding. The idle seems too low and the engine stalls so I went to the TORS boxes to ramp it up a bit (TORS is going away soon). Strange thing is that the idle adjustments had no effect. I could turn them several turns in and out and no change to the speed. I finally gave up and returned the screws to their original position. This makes me have to blip the throttle frequently to keep it running. I feel like this thing should be able to idle by itself. The engine has a fresh rebuild and it starts instantly and runs great. Anyway, the other odd thing is that while idling low - maybe 900 RPM or less, if I touch the throttle, literally touch it like just lay my finger on it, the RPM's jump up to about 2500. When I touch the lever, I get the feeling that it's just taking the slack out of the cable. I read over the manual and searched out info here but nothing is pointing to this specific problem. the manual simply says to use the screws on the TORS to adjust the idle and to keep them the same. Is there a minimum throttle position adjustment on the lever that I'm missing that should be done before I adjust the idle? Is there a quick step by step I can do to get this straightened out? Thanks for the help!
  9. learned something new today: Don't aim the back of the Banshee towards the open garage door when you start it cold...

  10. Merry Christmas everyone!

  11. I'd go 4 - 5 hours for a weekend trip... You guys would have to go easy on me, I'm a noob!
  12. Give the guy a break! I can fully understand life getting in the way of a project. I can also fully understand the frustration from getting a chunk of interesting info and then having it seemingly go nowhere. Years ago, I had the same response when I posted on the truck forum about a mod I did and that I would have before and after dyno results. Well, the dyno ain't cheap and it never worked out that I had the money at the right times to make it happen so it didn't. A lot of guys aren't professionals but they do great work - on their own budget, as a hobby so you can't expect them to produce the same results as a full time pro. Ideally yes, you should have all the info before posting but sometimes we get excited and want to show what we're doing NOW! Anyway, I'll be getting my Serval top end soon and I'm interested in seeing the results for this test for future reference!
  13. In North Carolina, you can buy an "indemnity bond". Essentially insurance against a vehicle being stolen so you can get a title for it. You buy the bond for 1.5 times the value of the vehicle, go to the DMV and fill out the affidavit that says that you don't have a title and why. Turn all the paperwork over to them and you get your title a couple weeks later. I would think most states have some kind of procedure like this.
  14. This is definitely in my plans. I need to find out more about local races, sanctioning bodies, etc...
  15. I'm already getting "bored" with it.. Get it? Bored!
  16. Brilliant! Thanks for that. Can't wait to get started on this for a Winter project!
  17. Hi, just checked the status of my order. Last entry says "Delivered" on Nov. 28. I'm assuming that means "filled" or maybe "shipped" since I only ordered on the 26th. Thanks for a great deal!
  18. Thanks guys, these are the kinds of answers I'm looking for! Mine has these little nerf bars that go from the pegs back to the rear fenders. You can't see them in the sig pic because the pegs and bars were off so I could repair the frame when I took the shot. DDQ, that's a great shot of your setup, I can even see your tether setup! Thanks, that's really helpful!
  19. Ha! Something like this:
  20. Well, I'm not 14 but I know nothing about the requirements for safety gear above and beyond everyday recreational riding. When I say "rules", I'm talking about for competitions. Boots and helmets are obvious so I'm asking what you all recommend as far as brands/types. Thanks. PS. I think you may be taking what I say too literally. I just put "Banshee" in the title to keep it on topic. I guess I have a really hard time putting into words the questions I have.
  21. Hey guys, I searched around the forums and all I really get is stuff for sale or intake "boots"... So, I'm interested in doing some MX or trail scrambles and I'm wondering what the required boots/protective clothing is for these activities. I'm sure about boots but what does everyone run? How about protective leathers? What are the official rules? What kind of helmets/face shields are popular? Thanks in advance!
  22. That's pretty close to the same bike I just picked up for $1700 in VA.
  23. Appears to be right in our back yard... http://www.mideastracing.com/
  24. Hey guys, I just bought this quad a couple weeks ago and I'm going to be doing some upgrades to the engine and cleaning up the exterior. On the list right now: De-stickering the body. (I guess I can tolerate the drop in HP. ) Powder coating the engine after the re-build in satin black. Leaving the cool head natural polished. Leaving the rims polished. Dump the yellow stuff, including the shock covers. Now a question: Should I leave the frame and suspension gloss black or go with satin? Also, I'm going to have the exhaust coated. Should I go with silver or satin black? Any other opinions? Thanks for the input!
  25. I just realized that I may have come off like a jerk in the original post saying this was not a "major hobby" for me. What I'm trying to say is that I can't AFFORD for this to be a major hobby! I fully respect the time, talent and money that goes into these bikes. Sorry for the faux pas...
