  1. Do a new thread called "Busco Beach 2013" or something like that.
  2. My bike wasn't ready any way so no big loss... Will be ready by Spring though!
  3. OK, it's not real clear when looking at the schematic. It looks like there are two wires coming off the charging side - a yellow and a black one that runs to the harness ground. Do I leave the black one as is and add the floated ground wire?
  4. Guys, I've read through the various threads and instructions for doing this and one thing remains unclear: The stock charging system has 2 wires coming out of the stator. When you float the ground, you add another wire to the previously grounded lug. So, now you have 3 wires. Which of the 3 do you use to connect to the reg/rec? Thanks!
  5. Time to start talking about this! Make some plans.
  6. OK, I went to do this and my stator has a screw with a couple wires and a lug connected to the ground. It doesn't have the same configuration as the one in the picture. Is it possible to simply remove this screw and insulate the connection? I can post a picture of it later tonight but I'm sure someone has seen this configuration.
  7. That's much better than anything else I found, thanks.
  8. I've Google searched all over creation and all the diagrams are small. I may have to scan the one out of my manual but I was hoping to find a good digital copy. I'm making some extensive modifications to the wiring harness and I need to design it before I start tearing things apart.
  9. Hey guys, My forum and internet search turned up nothing. I'm doing some mods to the electrical system and I'm looking for a stock wiring diagram that's hi resolution so I can edit it. Everything I see is around 640x480 and it just doesn't look right blown up. I'd prefer a diagram for the later models but I'll live with an earlier one if that's all I can get. Thanks for the help!
  10. I can't come then but I was checking out the web site and the whole Hat/Mac trail system looks fantastic! I'd love to ride it some time.
  11. Hey, Anyone have a throttle cable that's off the bike that they can measure the length of? It's difficult/impossible to measure in place with any accuracy and I can't seem to find any info here or on the Inter-web. I'm just looking for the jacket length, not the overall length with the cable ends. Thanks a lot!
  12. I"m up for another ride. This will give me the time tom complete the first stage of upgrades.
  13. Just to follow up, the spacing is between 100 and 102 mm. The variance is in my measuring ability since it's difficult to get an accurate measurement with the carbs installed on the engine.
  14. Yep, sorry. I won't have access to the engine until tomorrow and I figured I'd ask and see if I could find out a little earlier.
  15. Hey, quick question: What is the center to center spacing between the carbs? Is it something like 102mm? Also, what is the OD of the carb where it slips into the rubber boot on the reed housing? Thanks for the help!
  16. Sure had a good time meeting and riding with you guys today! You really have some strong running machines!
  17. Hope you guys aren't getting rained on!
  18. Well, it looks like I'm going to make if just for Saturday. Just to lower your expectations, I'll be the wimpiest rider with the ugliest, slowest, worst tuned Banshee. But I intend to have some fun! I'll try to show up around 8 AM on Saturday driving a bright red Ford F250.
  19. That makes a lot of sense, thanks!
  20. Thanks for the replies! Compression should be good, it had a recent top end rebuild. I'll check that and the carb jets.
  21. Guys, sorry for starting a topic on what probably is a common subject. "Running on one cylinder" is not a valid search query so I didn't have much choice. The engine seems to be running on only one cylinder at idle but it runs like a scalded dog at anything higher. At idle, I only have one smoking cylinder but if I blip the throttle, I get a puff of smoke from the other. It pulls as strong as ever on the top end but lower RPM's act like someone has cut the ignition. Here's my troubleshooting matrix: Carb slides matched perfectly. Air screws matched. Spark plug wires swapped - no change. New spark plugs installed - no change. New float needles and carbs totally cleaned. What do you recommend I go after next? Thanks!
  22. Bad news for me. My GF is having some serious surgery on the 17th and in all likely hood, She will still be needing me for support for the next several weeks. That gives me about a 5% chance that I can make it. If at all, it will be just for the day on Sat or Sunday. This wouldn't be a big deal since it's only about an hour and a half away. If you had to put money down for a camp site for me, I'll reimburse you. Heck, I worked on the quad most of the day today and even rode around in the rain making rooster tails in the slop!
  23. Stoked! My new/old fairing for the MC came in today from Australia!
