NO, don't do that. Take the carbs off the bike. Take the float bowls off of the bottom of the carb. Remove the splash gaurd, remove the main and pilot jets, spray everything down with carb cleaner. Spray in any passages, make sure that your jets are not clogged or anything like that. Clean any gumming off of the slides and inside the carbs. Once you tear into in you'll see what I mean. I like to get a shoe box for eash carb so I don't mix the parts up from side to side. You may even want to look into getting a couple carb repair kits from the dealer. They run about $15. Just be sure to use the right jets for your mods as the repair kit comes with stock jets.
