  1. You really can't tell anything by looking but for entertainment purpose.....
  2. There really isn't a need to tightenen the spring bolts more then 1/4 turn past tight. They thread into aluminum which strips out real easy, and they have a spring on them, kind of like a loc washer anyways. They won't back out.
  3. In general stay away from an aluminum sprocket and go for steel. At your level of power any steel sprocket should be OK. Once you get up there in power like my boys 10mil cub stay away from the steel sprockets with the holes in them for lightening. He has exploded a couple of them.
  4. Nice floors....
  5. What set-up are you running now? Do you think it's slipping?
  6. Every 2 stroke motor with a clutch should have a bearing there lol Every 2 stroke with a clutch should have that extra bearing. Thanks Justin. I think I'm at the point to where I need a slingshot. I just didn't want to spend the money if I can't ride the other 99% of the time I'm not racing.
  7. In my experience caster based oils tend to do this the most. That and overheating regular oil. This also tends to happen in winter or a motor that has sat without running for a while. Once you get the rings unstuck use a cut old ring to clean the channel.
  8. I believe 12mm and up you will need to epoxy, weld or whatever.
  9. That's not a bad job IMO. It's about as good as you can get without sanding. If they were my cases I'd be happy with that job and just hand sand the upper to be a lil flater before paint. Hellz I wouldn't have a problem epoxying them my self before machining.
  10. I do about 5 lbs over the stock torque rating. This is only because I believe the stock torque rating is weak and for well stock motors. I know anealing will make them expand but will it expand them around the hole in the middle of them? This is the confusiong part. Will heating them cause them to bind more with the head stud or not? I used to anneal my copper head gaskets on my dirtbikes back in the day when they got compressd with good results but they never binded with the studs.
  11. OK I bought this acorn nut head kit. Why because for no other reason then it looks good. It came with copper washers. At this point I've had the head off multiple times and the copper washers are starting to be a real PITA. They are compressed to the point of them binding with the head stud. The simple answer is just buy new ones but has anyone tried to anneal them?
  12. Twists are cool until you try and turn and give it gas at the same time. Twists aren't good if your bike like to wheelie all the time either. If I were a dune rider or drag racer a twist would be the shitz though.
  13. This is funny to me because my brother was telling me the other day his Lincoln would beat my shee.
  14. The most beautiful thing about Yamaha is once Yammy finds a nice design they continuously build off and refine it. With that said the banshee motor is built off so many other 350cc motors it's ridiculous. Impress your 4 stroke lovin streetbike riders by telling them the R1 used to be 350cc's and a 2 stroke from the 60's.
  15. I stayed with 115 rods so I could use Hotrods.
  16. Heres some pics they will tell you all you need to know.
  17. Can you use stock springs with a slingshot and still trail ride?
  18. I've found those copper washers to be a pain in the ass. Mine like to get caught on the head studs making them real hard to get off. Guess i need new ones....
  19. Theres no fear of hurting your top-end. You could prematurely wear out your trans gears and clutch if it goes dry. Mine leaked there on my last trip out. Just keep an eye on it.
  20. Thats awesome Starwriter.
  21. Do it. It won't affect it at all. I recommend lapping it afterwards just incase it somehow warps from the heat. I did mine and lapped it afterwards but I knew it was warped before I started.
  22. Sorry I'm late on this brother. I called today and talked to the guy. He said to get it set-up on the dyno would be $75. I asked how much time or runs does that give me he said if it's not a busy day I could just stay on it until it's tuned right. He said 1,2,3,4,5,6,7 runs it doesn't matter. I also asked about swapping carbs while I'm there and he said as long as I'm doin all the work thats fine. Basically he said the price is for getting hooked up. After that I could have fun with it. They are not real busy. RJATV still has my new carbs on back order but as soon as they come in it's on! I'm gonna do some runs with the stockers for shitz and giggles
  23. Dude put up a better fight then the 450's. I'm not sure of his mods. Look my bike isn't a world beater or a drag bike but it's more then 60hp.
  24. It just worked for me? I'll give them a call tomorrow and post it up.
  25. Please. I whooped an 800 renegade all day. Be sure to check out my dyno thread coming soon.
