  1. With dieing after it runs, and then starting after it sets for a while. Something often overlooked is the gas cap vent. Check to see if it flows air.
  2. Thanks for the input, got somewhere to start looking. This will probably be a winter time project as around home there's not really anywhere good to run this thing through the gears.
  3. Not sure who cut tranny. I had a site sponsor build this motor with the override about 4 years ago and never really rode it much until yesterday and this started shortly after the day started. If I let off the throttle and clutch it it will shift. Sometimes if you keep it pinned it doesn't do it sometimes it does. This only happens in second gear.
  4. When I shift to second gear it feels like it kicks in and out of neutral on its own, it's difficult to get into second but only seems to do this in second gear. All other gears shift fine with no problems. Could this be a shifting fork? It has very low hours on it like less than five. It is a n down 1-5 behind a drag ported cub. Has anyone else had this issue ?
  5. The set of miaer plastic I've put on my junk wasn't perfect hole placement, but took just very little effort to make fit correctly.
  6. You will not be disappointed with his engine build.
  7. I'm not sure how yours will do with 17/38 mine is drag ported. It idles in first gear around 10/15 mph, not really a trail friendly setup with +6 swinger and very violent (for lack of a better term) acceleration.
  8. I've got a trail /play banshee that does well with 15/39 gearing that is still 347 cc with stock jugs no port work, just bolt on stuff.
  9. 17/38 on my 421 cub HJR drag ported, and unless you're on pavement it still blows the tires off. That's with +6 swinger. It really kinda depends on what port work was done and what other mods you have.
  10. Thanks, jetting is spot on right now.
  11. Thinking of installing a set on my trail/play banshee, did any of you who have them on your machines have to rejet after installing them? Thank you for any input.
  12. If I didn't have skid I couldn't go 5 minutes and I'd have junk.
  13. Do you still have the parking brake on your machine? Did you get your carbs clean and readjusted properly? There are many things that could cause the poping and backfiring, but changing the oil is not one of them!
  14. If you have to ask, you will never know. Yes my 96 will smoke my 02. ( look at my sig)
  15. I can see that happening if you mix Yamalube at 24:1 , then switch to Belray and mix it at 40:1 hahaha!!
  16. Hell yes it's true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My '96 will flat out blow the wheels off of my '02, and that is no shit!!
  17. I run Yamalube in both of my banshees and never had a problem. 40:1 in 110 octane tubo blue. I've done this for over 18 yrs so I guess it will be ok.
  18. I totally agree, but this guy keeps going off track for some reason??
  19. I really don't think this is a carb issue. If you don't want to check the plug wires and caps to see if they are in spec, then check the rear tire pressure and see if that is the problem!!
  20. As you stated in this post, when you changed plug wires so did the problem. Check the resistance on wires and caps!! Clean caps and plugs and then check resistance on caps and coil wires. Get a Clymers manual or look up in the tech section of this forum for ohms of resistance.
