Well I am not sure the type of gauge I have but it has the pressure relief up at the gauge. But I just checked the ring gap on one of the rings and it is past .025 (far as my feelers go). Looked in book and said service limit is .020. Looks like I will be running race fuel when I get it back together. I am doing some thorough cleaning and might paint frame. What is good to get the surface rust off pipes? Also what's good to clean the carbon out of the domes? I know Mother's takes alot of stuff off. I just noticed my cylinders have been polished. Never even realized it. Should look good when I get it back together.
Do I need to get all new O rings for the cool head? Don't think there is anyone local I trust to set the pistons up right so i'll probably just send them out to one of the sponsors and order pistons from them and have them set the gap and all that good stuff.
Piston is 513MO6550 which I found out to be Wiseco. Looks like she definitely needs some rings a? Will I need to get cylinder honed or can I just put new rings in?
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!!!! I just now pulled the head and it has 18cc domes........................... WOW that's a shocker. So that means getting a reading of 125 and 130 psi that my rings are pretty much shot???? Wonder why it isn't smoking more if that's the case. Means it should probably be getting race fuel with new topend cuz compression is gonna go up a pretty good bit a? Correct me if i'm wrong. Bottoms of domes are pretty black.
It does start but not like it should. I am at about 700asl. Looking on a chart I found compression should be higher w/ a cool head. So a top end would be feasible. I should be between 156 and 169 w/ a 20cc dome according to chart. Like I said it was very warm out today and it takes forever for that initial startup. Once it's warmed up its fine.
Been working forever it seems to get it tuned.
I just dropped down to a 25 pilot. I do have a Pro Design cool head but don't know what domes. I'm assuming 20's. I did notice tonight there is a small crack in one of the intake boots coming off the air box going to carb. What should compression be for cool head?
I finally got around to checking compression. The right side is 130psi and the left is 125. Would this call for a rebuild up top? What is the factory specs for a fresh topend?
Can't get the bike to run like I want. It is like 70 degrees out and I go out to start it and have to kick it forever and still can't get the pilot circuit tuned right so it don't sputter from 0 throttle.
Thx. then they just attach to the frame up front? Guess between that and the other front mount missing a bolt and 1 half out that might stop a little of the vibration lol. Thx.
Might sound dumb but I don't see the long control arm looking engine mounts under my quad. Anyone got a pic of underneath where they go? Why would they not be there?
I was just curious as to the theory of the 2mm ring and why you can't judge a plug you have been riding on for a while. And I was wondering how you would do a plug chop for the pilot circuit. Just visually better to see the ideal color rather than hear it if that makes sense.
I know there are always questions about jetting and i'm sure others would benefit from pics of good and bad plug readings. Thx.
ALSO: Do you let off the throttle as you kill it and come to a stop or would you keep the throttle opened up as you roll to a stop?
O.K. so what's the deal with the 2mm ring? Is that where the main registers at? Would you do the same type of chop for medium throttle and idle? Y is it a 2mm ring at the bottom? Just because it hasn't made it's way up the entire porcelain?
Just wondering if anyone knows of any large amount of good pics showing different jetting readings on plugs. Seems like that would be an awesome sticky or something with a bunch of different pics of different conditions of plugs.
Messed around trying to fine tune it some more today. Seems the leaner I go on the air screw the better. I am around 2 1/4 out. The thing is that every now and again the damn thing wants to revv up and act like its running lean. I did notice that the intake boot has a small tear but can't tell if it goes clear through for air to enter. I rode around for a little bit and the plug still shows it to be a little rich. Should I continue going out on the air screw?
Go to craigslist (chillicothe) search for banshee carbs or banshee. Guy has a set off a newer Shee for $40. Yah I know y don't I buy them? Too much other stuff I need.
