how much $$ is it to split the case
old roost replied to zephyrdog's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
if you have any mechanical ability it is sooo simple, i always had bikes so i thought my banshee was going to be tough, so far it is the simplist thing besides a vw bug LOL Like the other guys said just take your time and stay organized. I used to use baggies and lable with a sharpie for nuts bolts etc. but you could also use a big piece of card board with holes and diagram and lable that way. -
i dont think you are getting water in the exhaust flanges, if you got water in there you would most likely hydro lock. i say like the other guys said check it at night.....also you may not have a good seal on your stator cover, on most bikes etc the stator cover does not have a gasket, i was having the same kind of problem on one of my old bikes.... go through the stream/ water hole whatever and the bike would die. I ended up just using some rtv silicon to make a gasket and i didnt have the problem again.

great i never thought of using my air hammer thanks ill try tonight

Ok guys, banshee is 98% stripped, ready for paint......problem is i can not get the swing arm bolt out, any ideas? i even used a long exstension to try and tap it out with a hammer barley moved, and yes i have the weight off of of the frame and swing arm

Milky grey crank oil? what could this be?
old roost replied to 92bansh's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
you are getting coolant into your oil. you either have a bad gasket or worse a crack in one of the cycl -
boy i miss New Yorkers LOL LOL. Really all kidding aside i dont care if i am by myself but i plan on riding with wife and kids, but from what every one is saying i will have plenty of range.
-
yes it is bad, see what black sunshine posted, it can cause a lean condition, to much air and not enough fuel, the banshee 2 stroke engine relies on the oil mixed in the fuel for lubrication in the cyl's, if you are running lean it is not lubricating properly and bad things can happen. and yes a gasket/ air leak can cause an engine to sputter wether it be a 2 stroke or 4 stroke.
-
I know what you mean my kids 4 stroke dirt bikes go forever on a tank!!!!!!! thanks, at least i i can ride with them for a few hours, when i run out send them for the fuel can LOL LOL
-
If that is happening do not run the motor anymore untill you replace that gasket!!!!!
-
really??? even if you dont get into the throttle hard? I thought it would be more with what 3-4 gallon tank? Good thing i have extra fuel cans LOL LOL. Thanks for the reply
-
hey guys, what do you all think the average range is on a shee with a full tank of fuel with not getting on the pipes to much trail riding? I know every other 2 stroke i have ever had just sucks fuel. would you say 3-4 hours?

There is no way that bike will do 70mph!!!! those chinese engines max at around 5-11 hp. The chinese 200cc only makes up to 11 hp! And you have to be crazy to put the stress and strain from Nitrous on a very very poor nock off of a Honda engine. Sorry i cant stand ridiculous claims!!!!!! My sons crf 80 (stock will only do 40-45 on a flat road.) Oh but wait it is a BIG BORE on a 50cc desingend motor. I bet that motor is making close to 100hp with the NOS. LOL LOL

Hey guys, I have a 1975 Harley sx 250 i am selling( i was going to trade to a kid in Ohio for a Xr200.) but i cant justify driving 1500 miles to trade bikes. It is in very good shape for the year. All stock except for the front fender. It has the normal surface rust from sitting. It runs like a raped ape, but the tank will have to be cleaned and lined.I have ridden it by filling the bowl and going up and back down the street. This bike will start to spin the rear tire on black top hitting power band in second gear. I wanted to keep it and restore it but i have to make room in the garage. If any one is interested let me know and if you give me your e-mail i can forward picc/ video.

thank you|!!!! watching for a big box at the door LOL LOL jugs are going to be bored tomorrow,
-
thanks zach....... by the way i was a fellow New Yorker! transplanted to texas.
-
that is what i was afraid of!!!! Ok so if i order a new crank does it come already together with new rods etc? Good place to get one? or would i be ok with the ones that are on it for a while? Like i said they both spin very very freely
-
I am in the process of rebuilding also, good luck to you....... the best thing to have is a air compressor and air tools, impact gun and air rachet !!!!a huge savings in time. and it will easily remove the clutch basket nut with out a holder. The only " speacial" tool i needed was a 32 mm socket... $8 at sears,to get the clutch basket off.

Ok got the main gear off, thanks for the advice, i wasnt sure if i should tap on it or not being i have never worked on a banshee before. Now that i have the gear off i cant get the right side bearing off. i t should just slide off correct???? It spins very freely if you give it a flick of your finger it will spin at least 10-15 times all the way around.but it does sound slightly noisy so i think i should replace it in stead of lubing it up. also painted case black, came out really nice, i used 1200 degree high temp paint, started stripping paint and surface rust from the frame, started painting that red,

great i will try that thanks guys

same thing happened to my sons crf 80 main jet partialy clogged up.
-
no the crank is not in the bike...it is completly dissasembled. i am talking about the main gear on the right side of the crank, the nut is off and the gear for the water impeller is off but the main gear on the crank does not want to come off. I obviously have to get that off to replace the outer bearings and the oil seals. any ideas??? I did not want to try to force it with out checking with you all first, i know some one on here has run into this before
-
hey guys, what is the easiest way to remove the main gear from the crank? i have the water impeler gera off but the main gear does not want to come off, I need to get it off to replace the right side crank bearing Is it safe to use a 3 jaw gear puller on this?
