  1. I use tractor trans fluid. Costs about $8 for 2 gallons. If it can push a combine and other tractors around fields for 12 hours a day and weeks on end, then the banshee is no problem. I find the trans shifts more solid and I find neautral easier. I get it at Farm and Fleet.
  2. The brake rotor hub almost always moves a little where it attaches to the axle. If the disc moves on the hub then the bolts are loose. Re-tighten them. There's really no way totighten up the hub on the axle. The loose front end is likely A arm pivot bushings or ball joints. More likely pivot bushings. Check out Holyman tech in "tips and tricks" it might give you a few more ideas. Coolant will come out of the O flow tube for no reason so for the bottle to be empty is no surprise. If the coolant is spraying out, then you've overheated and boiled over. This can be caused by a melted or broken coolant impeller. Alot of people use the gear saver oil. It's not my preference but it seems to be a quality oil so if you like it, that's all that matters. I sell bearings to replace the bushings if that's where the looseness is. I give HQ members a break from the eBay prices. Email me.. [email protected]
  3. Send me a pic of those 2:1 pipes... [email protected]
  4. What are the YFZ guys putting on their quads then? if the stock shocks are so good?
  5. Here's what I think... http://www.bansheehq.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19955
  6. I'm sure this went bye-bye with the old forum so I thought I'd redo it. Start from the front and work your way back. Get it on flat ground and look at it. Does it look lop-sided, the plastic fit tight, bars bent, rims look straght up and down and not tipped in at the top. {some aftermarket arms will look tipped in at the top}. Grab the top of the tire from the side and push it and pull it. There should be no looseness. There is it could be wheel bearings, A arm ball joints, loose pivot bolts or worn out pivot bushings. While you're there look closely at the frame for bends or cracks where the brackets are that hold the A arms to the frames. Grab the tire from the side one hand front and one hand back and move it like you're turning the bars. Looseness could be tie rod ends or wheel hubs. Move to the front of the quad and grab the upper A arm and pull it forward and push it back. Looseness here is worn pivot bushings or loose pivot bolts. Push down on the front bumper and notice any clunking especially at the shocks or front hubs. Notice how easy it is to push down for strength of the shocks. Look at the radiator for dents or repairs. Look at the fit of the rad plastic to the front fender. A crooked fit shows the bike was rolled and the steering hoop has been bent back. Look for discolored plastic or cracks. Take the plugs out and look at the color. They should be nice and clean and not burnt, melted, or black. Screw in your compression tester. Go around and check the oil. It should be clean and not smell burnt and should not look like chocolate mousse. Silver flecked oil is NOT good. Get on the quad and sit on the seat. See if the bars and pegs feel like they're in the right place. Move bars and listen for noises or looseness. Could be top stem bushing, lower stem bearing, tie rod ends, A arm ball joints or bad hub bearings. Stand up on the pegs and bounce all of your weight on one of the foot pegs and then the other. Listen for clunking or movement other than the squishiness of the tires. Looseness or noises are usually swingarm pivot bearings or axle bearings. Sometimes loose rear wheel hubs will thump a little. Look at the pegs too for bends or looseness. Bounce up and down on both pegs at the same time and listen for noises usually in the rear at the shock. Move the throttle a couple times and try to notice any snags or rough spots. Hold the throttle open and kick the kicker until the compression gauge won't go any higher. Write down the compression. Do the second one and record the number. Less than 100PSI compression or more than 10% difference between the 2 numbers means top end time. Get off the quad and take off the seat and filter top. Take out the filter and see if it's clean and run your finger inside the carb. Any grit or dirt means bad filter maintenance and NOT GOOD for the motor. Check carb tops to make sure they're tight. Check crossover tube or boost bottle for grooves from the cables rubbing. Put the filter and seat back on. Get off the quad and look at the grab bar where it meets the frame. This spot usually gets bent from back flips. Grad the rear bar and lift hard and lsiten for noises especially at the shock and linkage as well as the swingarm pivot and axle bearings. Grab the bar and push it side to side. This is another way of seeing if the swingarm pivot or the axle bearings are bad. Check the chain and sprockets for looseness and bent/ worn teeth on the sprockets. Check the tires for uneven wear and check the plastic for discoloration or cracks. Start it up and let it get warm. Alot of smoke for the first few minutes is not unusual. Clanging noise on the right while it's idling is probably the kicker. Reach down and hold it to see if that's it. Rev it up. It should rev freely. Go for a ride. Power should be even with no significant hesitations and no bogging. Check brakes front and back. They should stop well with no clunking and no grinding. Come to a complete stop and hold the front brake rock forward and back and listen for clunking. Could be loose A arm bushings, hubs, ball joints, front discs, and calipers. Hold rear brake and rock front and back. Noises could be swingarm pivot bearings, axle bearings, loose caliper or caliper bracket, or loose brake hub or caliper. Get moving again and go back and let it coast to a stop. Listen for anything unusual. A slight rubbing/ whirring sound is probably the chain slider. Well that's about all I can think of right now. Hope this helps
  7. I haven't looked at the plugs.
  8. Sounds like a bearing. There should be no movement up and down. Sometimes there is a slight {VERY slight} movement side to side but never up and down. If you don't have a grease fitting on your carrier, plan on installing one when you have it apart.
  9. I'd still buy used. A new banshee is only as good as the warrantee and that runs out in a month or 2. Then you've got a used banshee that needs a bunch of upgrades anyway and you just spent more for it than a used one with the mods on it. And as far as the bushings go, I'll get you some bearings to replace 'em with and you should never have to change 'em again
  10. You need to lean way forward to get the wheels to spin a little. I'm sure you can beat him but you need to be a better rider that's all.
  11. Thanks for the tips guys but how about this... I've always run the Toomey 2:1 filter with T5's and a Hush kit. I never messed with the jetting and rode from HOT summers to 10 below zero for hours. So the only real change I made was the pipes from T5's to the Trinity's. Oh and I switched from 40:1 Yamalube to 80:1 Amsoil. Any new ideas? Or does everything stay about the same?
  12. First of all, everyone should know that I DON'T do jetting. But I'm going to have to soon because I changed pipes. I took the ol' girl for a ride today and she was flat on top wide open in 6th. Usually it's not a problem. I don't know what my jetting is right now so an idea of where to go from here would be great. Mods... Stock bore, Boyeson reeds, Stock carbs bored to 28MM. 2:1 filter, Trinity pipes and silencers. Any help is much appreciated.
  13. I checked the clip and it's 9.5MB. Sorry.
  14. I ran the 2:1 filter with my T5's a melted it even though I had the filter rotated to be in the center. Then I went with Trinity pipes and they are all up on the filter. So great tip. If I don't switch to a 2:1 intake, I'm gonna do what you did.
  15. The last year has been every year since they made the first one in 87. The second thing is don't be worried about buying used. The only way to buy someone elses junk is if you don't know what you're looking for. Get an education before you buy a banshee {meaning know what you're looking for in a banshee before you buy.} You can save tons of money and get a head start on mods by buying used.
  16. First of all thanks for all the advice. If nothing else, I'm getting more motivated to get the site up and running. As far as vacation goes, I went on a cruise to Belize, Honduras, Grand Cayman and Cozumel. I'll give you the abbreviated version of my travel log. 1- Belize is great for scuba. I don't scuba. We were going to do a snorkeling excursion but the water was rough and they were offering refunds to those who "might get sick" from the choppy water. That meant to us that you couldn't see anything. So we went shopping and there wasn't much to see there. 2- Honduras was rainy. We got on a bus to go to a beach but it rained so we got back on the bus and went back to the ship. As a side point my brother in law {wifes brother} and his inlaws {his wifes parents} and their kids and a couple friends {total 8 people} decided to save a couple bucks and catch a cab to the beach. The idea was that the cab would take them there and then get paid for the round trip when they got picked up. Long story short. The cab never came. So 6 of 'em hitched a ride on the back of a Datsun short bed pickup that was 1/2 covered with a toolbox and that had piles of used truck coil springs in it. The other 2 flagged down an ambulance and got a ride. They were the last 8 people to board the ship There was another couple {wifes aunt and uncle} that went on a jungle canopy tour where you strap on a harness and slide along cables in the tree tops. They loved it. 3- Grand Cayman was great. We did a stingray tour where you snorkel with the stingrays out about 3 miles from shore. You feed 'em squid chunks. They are totally harmless and even rub against you like a cat. I took a short video clip I could send you if you want to see it. If you go there I would say it's a "must do". One other thing... They make Tortuga rum there. So STOCK UP!!! 4- Cozumel was also great. There's plenty of shopping, clubs, and an AWESOME eco preserve about 1/2 hours drive from shore. We did a "Jeep snorkel" tour. They put you into groups of up to 4 and then your group gets the keys to a Jeep Wrangler. You drive to the eco preserve and see the croc farm, some small ruins, and then a perfect beach where you can enjoy the sun or snorkel out to a reef. We snorkeled along the reef for an hour and a half. We got back to the Jeeps and then did some "off roading" where the tour guide drives you thru the jungle on one of the worst trails I've ever been on. Rocks, roots, holes, water the works. The guides were great. They had CB's that played on the radios in each Jeep. They would constantly say "remember you're on vacation, have a good time ... but HURRRRYYYY UUUPPP VAMANOOOOOSSSSS ". There was a group of 4 old ladies that never even drove stick before trashing this Jeep, at night, in the dark, in the woods and a Mexican saying "C'MON YOU NEEED A PUSH???!!!" It was an awesome day. I would recommend Grand Cayman and Cozumel unless you scuba. I'm told that Belize and Honduras are some of the best scuba in the world other than Austrailia.
  17. Ben... where can I get the free netscape thing?
  18. On my 99 I put it in the tank plastic just under the handle bars and on the 95 I put it under the left fender on a little aluminum bracket. I run 2:1 pipes on the 95 so it wouldn't work on every banshee. I've seen it in the side of the rad plastic and thru the fender on race cut plastic. Some folks put it under the seat with a bar that goes across the bolts that hold down the back of the tank. I'm too lazy to pull the seat to turn the key. I can email you a pic of mine in the tank and on the fender if you want.
  19. I can get you whatever you need. email me with a want list and I'll get you a price. [email protected]
  20. Basically looking for a simple site to host some HQ pics since Lee won't host 'em and to link to my eBay auctions for my bearing sales and maybe some tech tips on kicker rebuilds and other tech stuff like your site. Heck isn't that every HQ members dream
  21. I need everything. Right now all I have is... "This site is under contruction" imperialhouseofracing.com I went thru ehostpros like someone on here suggested. I have a friend that does website stuff but he's so busy that I can't even pay him to do it.
  22. Yep. From an 87.
  23. Send me the pics and let me know if there's any plugs in 'em... [email protected]
  24. I've had a website for a few months now but don't have ANYTHING on it. I really could use some help.
  25. My dealer sells the wire by the foot and the plug caps too. I got 2 feet of wire and new caps for under $15.
