The only red on this one is the hubs. Otherwise it's black plastics. Should have posted a picture of before i took it apart. I'll see if i can find one tonight. Yep, thats why i said jug was trash. Guess i could get another sleeve installed but i figured it would be cheaper to just find another jug. -
Ok lets see if we can get this right. When i think top end i think pistons jugs head, bottom end is complete bottom end (engine internals top case half, bottom case half). So are you selling this with only half a crank case like the picture shows? Not trying to be rude or smart just trying to figure out if an engine part i need is included or not.
-
Why would you want to?
-
Does the top case come with it?

Not to thread jack but you recommend NOT to run a check valve?

I purchased it expecting the worst but i'm happy with it overall. Rest of it is in really good shape and it has an fmf sst pipe set on it so i don't think i did too bad. When it's all said and done i hope to still have less into it than a nice rinning banshee would have cost me around here. Unless i go nuts with the motor rebuild. -
Well picked it up last night for $900 thinking it needed a topend rebuild. Guy said it was running on 1 cyl two years ago so it was put up in his garage. Got it home, tore it down and what do i find? Broken piston, rod, jug, head and crank. HOPEFULLY the case survived won't know till later. Not sure how i'm going to continue with the rebuild, guess its research time. Heres a few pictures. I'm still excited to finally have a banshee instead of my blaster.

LOL! I feel like the king of the world when i'm a couple feet off the ground. No big jumps for me. BUT i do want as nice of a ride as possible.
-
Well i would always like to spend less but i only want to buy suspension parts once. I would rather dump money into it handling the bumps better than speed for now. Speed can always come later.

Thank's for all the help. Are the elkas really worth the money? If i went with them front and rear which ones would be recommended?

Good stuff keep it coming. I'm not so worried about performance right away. I'm sure whatever i find will already have pipes on it and if not i will do that. I'm sure going from a blaster to even a stock banshee will be a HUGE improvement in power alone and will take some time to get used to. What i don't want is to have a quad that kicks my ass after riding a few hours like my blaster does. We typically ride 5 to 6 hour days and everytime i'm beat after a few hours of getting kicked around while the guys i ride with (couple of z400's, honda 700xx, raptor 700) are good to go all day with their plush suspensions. I'm already going against what everybody tells me by getting a banshee. Nobody in my area runs one and everybody thinks i should get a z400 or raptor 700. Don't want to hear the "i told you so's" if this thing ends up beating me up the same way my blaster does lol.
-
So when i get my banshee i should still have a few grand to spend on setting up the suspension and anything else i want to change on the quad. I mostly do fast trail riding we do have a few good drag race spots but this will mainly be a trail machine. I currently ride a blaster and am tired of getting the shit beat out of me even though i have done a good bit to help handling and ride quality. With my budget in mind how would you set up the suspension (shocks arms other...)? I have a little time to think about this i only want to buy parts once.

Still considering banshee need some input
lmaloch replied to lmaloch's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Everybody told me i would hate a blaster for riding trails also and the absolute only thing i can't do that the big bikes do is back up. Not too worried about the power delivery on trails as long as the shee isn't going to overheat all the time. My friend has a z400 and it is a great bike. Love the way it rides, hate the power delivery. I'm always over revving it lol. -
New to banshee and I got the fever

Thinking of stepping up from my blaster myself. What do you think of the differences in the way they ride? -

Thank's for all the good input. As far as getting on the pipe in the trails i'm not worried about that. I'm not on the pipe most of the time on my blaster and it does fantastic even creeps very well. I'm sure the banshee is pretty much the same. -

That is a great selling point as i was not sure how hard it would be to work on either quad. -

That's what i would expect. We do alot of woods riding but we move along at a good pace. We don't do alot of putting around. As long as the banshee will handle well (i'm riding a blaster, everything handles better lol) and will keep up with the raptors in the woods and on the drags i'll be perfectly happy. My blaster is dead reliable and would hope the shee will be to. Would love to try out a shee before i purchase, but out of a group of 20+ riders i am the ONLY two stroke. The only guy that even owns a shee never rides it and it's a drag bike anyhow. -

That's a good start. Can you give me any reasons for the order of your list? Also how much of a difference will i notice in the ride quality, and the power of a "stock form" banshee over my modded blaster? I realize it would be much simpler to just ride somebody elses banshee but everybody i ride with is stuck on four strokes lol. -
So i'm buying a new quad in a few weeks and i'm torn on what i should buy. I've been stuck on the banshee train for a long time now but i got to ride a new raptor 700 last weekend and it blew me away. I am currently on a blaster with a toomey system, intake mods, better shocks, and a bunch of other goodies. The question is this.... will i be happy with a banshee or should i get a raptor 660 to tide me off for a while till next year when i can afford a new 700. I love the two strokes but i've never been on a banshee. I know they are alot more power than my blaster but if i get a stock shee will it be a vast improvement over my modified blaster? I know i will have some biased answeres lol but i've never been on a banshee so who better to ask? BTW we do mostly fast trail riding and a little racing on the sand bars.

How does the banshee do for trail riding
lmaloch replied to lmaloch's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Thank's for all the info. I'm used to how different the two strokes are on tight trails and technical uphills and so on. I actually prefer the power delivery of a two stroke over a four stroke (i'm the only two stroke in my group) i just didn't know if there were any problems trying to trailride a banshee. Like overheating or major ground clearance issues. My blaster seems to be perfect for what we do, the big bikes and quads can't lose me but when we get in the open i'm lacking just a tad. Hoping the banshee makes up for this but also want my blaster like ride on the trails. Any of this make any sense? -
So i've been on a blaster for a while and have done quite a few mods i won't get into it but now i'm looking for a banshee. I was told that i wouldn't like the banshee for trailriding but i was told the same about my blaster and love it. I realize no reverse but the blaster doesn't have it either and hasn't been a deal breaker so far. Any opinions? I really don't want to be another guy on a four stroke. Great site by the way.
