  1. so from your knowledge of the carbs do you think the metering rod is close to the right size? again im at around 2000ft and i have shearer inframes and clamp on filters..is it possible the the rod is just too rich for the engine down low? once i get it about to the powerband it smooths right out and the power comes on really strong and really fast all the way to the top rpms. if the rod is too rich what sizes would you recommened trying out?
  2. i def agree with tedd1 on that one! dont risk it but bumping up the compression cuz if you are running low to begin with putting it up to 130psi is gonna make the outcome even worse; broken piston skirts, bent rods, cracked cases, etc...its not worth it!! spend the extra cash and send your cylinders out to get bored. you will def be farther ahead in the long run and your wheeler will run much more reliable. good luck
  3. i just had a possible thought on why mine could seem to be loading up down low..the carbs im running are 38mm. is it possible that those are too big and are drowning the engine? im looking for more on the topend and not so worried about the lowend power cuz we do all pavement and road riding but at the same time i want to be able to get up to powerband fast so the pipes can kick in! if the carbs are too big for the engine would i only be able to tell on lowend? or topend? or is it noticeable throught the entire rpm range?
  4. yeah thats one thing i learned fast about these carbs and that is they are awesome cuz you never mess around with any jetting! once you get in the close range with your metering rod it will be simple to fine tune the carb. like dajogejr said, read the links above..they are very interesting and tons of help!!
  5. well idk how much performance difference you will notice since this is the same size as the carb you are running now. i know these carbs were the best investment ive made for my banshee yet. def alot of bang for your buck!! i obviously felt the power increase cuz i went from stock carbs to 38mm's lol but ive been told lectrons produce a little more lowend power than conventional carbs and are about equal on the topend. and once you get the carbs adjusted close for you setup i can tell right away that fine tuning is a breeze!! 10 times easier than messing around with jetting. for 30 bucks id say give it a shot..you wont be disappointed!!
  6. 1) What type of aftermarket exhaust do you have? shearer inframes (SB) 2) What type of airfilter do you have? pods 3) Are you a)running a stock airbox with lid stock airbox with NO lid c) Stock airbox with vents d) no airbox at all 4) What is your elevation? (If you don't know, go here: http://www.topozone.com ) 2000 5) What size pilot jets are you using? -- 6) What size main jets are you using? -- 7) What temperature is your Banshee jetted for? wide range 8) Do you have a port job? yes 9) What kind of carbs? lectrons 10) What size carbs? 38 11)crank? vito's 4mil with the right gearing this makes an awesome top end wheeler! excellent post!!
  7. good post! i have a 4mil on mine with just the spacer and im wondering if cut domes are gonna be better too? the first thing everyone looks at is right at that spacer on mine so thats an instant give away. but id also like to know the pros and cons of both! and difference in performance?
  8. i got a digital mic ordered from harbor freight so hopefully it doesnt take very long to get here and i post back as soon as it comes in. and klemet banshee, i would def say pick that up if thats all it costs cuz i know what i paid for my carbs and thats a deal lol
  9. ok ill pick up a mic in town tomorrow and get them adjusted and keep leaning them out. now if i lean them out so far will the rod itself completely unscrew?
  10. so you are thinking that if my metering rods arent exact it could throw it off and seem to load up like it is? im new with lectrons and still trying to figure everything out so any advice would be great.
  11. i dont have a micrometer..i could pick one up tomorrow. is the adjustable powerjet something that can just be bought or do they only come special on different carbs?
  12. yes i leaned out the rod a few different times and i just did full turns everytime. it seemed to run a little better but still loaded up down low. any idea of where i should be on the powerjet size? i havent checked whats in them now but what should be close? im running shearers with clamp on filters.
  13. hey guys i got some new lectrons on my 4-mil. i tried them with the metering rods they came with (4-2) and its seems to load up some down low but once it gets close to the powerband it takes right off and flys. can anyone get me close on the metering rod and powerjet size?? im at about 2000ft.
  14. depends on what type of riding you do. i use shearers and they are awesome topend pipes. def worth the money!
  15. the carbs clear the clutch good now but i dont know how it would be without the spacers. is there any performance gains or loses with or without them? the midrange comes on really strong..would you sacrifice a little on the midrange and get rid of them for all topend or wouldnt i be able to tell a difference?
  16. just wanted to know what your opinion on reed spacers is?? i have them on my 4mil with shearer inframes and 38mm lectrons. im still working on the carbs to get them where i want to be but i want to know if they are worth having on there or if they are just a waste. i do basically all topend pavement riding so whatever makes best mid-top power is what im lookin for!
  17. alright guys im looking for some advice on where to go with this..i bought a project lt250r this spring to fix up and sell. i rebuilt the engine and rode it for a bit but it lost all spark. everything on the wiring harness and coils are all cobbled together and i just want to get all new stuff. where is the best place to get all this? the cheaper the better!
  18. this is off topic but are those 18" or 19" holeshots on the rear?
  19. where can you buy those? what about the cable?
  20. what type of throttle are you using with your setup? i want to keep my stock carb setup for a project that im building so i dont want to do anything to it to where i cant use if for the stock carbs. thanks!!
  21. alright thanks guys. where or what is the best type of throttle cable to use? and also, will i have to change the actual throttle part itself? i know my buddy had to do that with his lectrons
  22. hey guys i just bought a set of 38mm lectrons with filters and intakes. this is going on my 4mil and i just wondered if you guys had any pointers for me before i run them?? im new to lectrons but the guy i bought them frm said he took them off his running banshee so would there me much changing to do in the carbs to run them on my setup? also, can just the stock banshee throttle cables be used with lectrons or do they need a special cable? thanks in advance guys!!
  23. what fuel do you guys recommend for a 4mil stroker engine with 20cc domes and +4 timing? is pump gas enough or should i run higher octane?
  24. i had those same UPP intakes. i got them new from a buddy and the package was a moose racing package. i ran them and they seemed to work fine for me
  25. one of the guys around here has a set of 34s he would sell me for $400 with the cable and pod filters. does that sound like a reasonable price?
