alright i talked to a local builder today and im gonna have him do some engine work for me. im having him port cylinders for my 4mil and and im gonna have him add boost ports right away..he says they add alot of power down low and im debating on whether or not to have him port the cases. he says it will help alot too but i just wanted some input before i spent the extra money. any input would be greatly appreciated!

i got mine off ebay. got them alot cheaper there than if i was to buy them new but there are alot of other places to get good deals on new stuff then you are sure of what you are getting where as when you buy somethin off ebay you never how until its on the bike and running.
-
i did the same deal with my bansh. bought it blown with a bad crank..dropped in a vitos 4mil, 20cc domes and +4 timing and it came with fmf fattys. the stock carbs did alright but i was expecting a little more bang for my buck. switched to shearers and 38mm lectrons and it was a whole different world. even with the shearers there was alot more lowend but the topend gain was awesome!! i would def. encourage anyone to get the bigger carbs if the engine can handle it.

you got some real good mods and cpi's would def wake it up alot! i had fattys on my basically stock motor and they performed decent then switched to a 4mil and you could just tell that the engine wasnt reaching its full potential. i switched to shearers which are gonna be very comporable to cpi performance wise and that did the trick...good low to mid power but pulled like crazy on topend! i would like to try cpi to see how they compare but i definately think the cpi's will really let your bike reach its max potential! good luck

yupp that does, i just wanna make sure i have everything straightened out before i buy the rest of my parts lol thanks guys

does the porting for the 4mil changes between the 110 and 115 rods or do the pistons compensate for that aswell?
-
alright im gonna give him a call and see where he thinks i should be and go from there. thanks again for all the help!! much appreciated.
-
alrighty thanks again ill keep lengthening them and see if it improves at all. just out of curiousity, about how much do the metering rods cost?
-
ok i measure from the slide itself right next to the brass insert to the tip of the rods and one measure 49.91 mm and the other was 49.94. anywhere close?
-
ok i just looked on the vitos site and they only sell one type of 4mil crank and that uses the 110 rods so that means i can use and regular banshee piston right? and will this type of crank need different cut domes than what one with 115 rods will need?
-
how would you be able to be sure it is right in the center? does anyone know the number it will be from the very top to the bottom of the rod or can that vary from differents cranks too?
-
alright i got the cailpers today and measured up the rods. when measured 99.82 from the tip of the rod to the top or the slide and the other measured 100.1 now is that gonna be far enough off to throw them out of sync? i just adjusted them to be just about exact just to be sure now but are those numbers within a decent range?
-
i have tried to contact the person but they dont respond to my emails so im out of luck there. is there any way to tell or anything i could measure on the crank or rods?
-
ok thanks guys..does anyone know what rods come with a vitos 4mil? i bought a new 4mil off ebay and its a vitos but there wasnt any info on it an im just curious what pistons ill need
-
ok this may be a dumb question but ill ask anyways..do all stroker cranks come with the 115 rods? and also..do you always have to use the 795 pistons with any stroker or are instances when you dont?
-
is it worth it from t6 to shearer or cpi
studroes replied to screamin_banshee_2003's topic in Jetting & Exhaust Forum
your mods are about identical to mine and im runnin shearers and love them!! well worth the money. the mid-range is decent but once they get to the topend they just keep pulling with tons of power! -
i do have a set of cylinders that im running on my banshee now but they are bored 66.5 so there is nothing left. i guess if the ported cylinders arent gonna work for the 4mil i will resleeve the ones im running now and put the ported ones on the basically stock engine i have in the wheeler and once i get the other one all finished ill run that one. without the cost of the sleeves does anyone know about what price range i could be looking at?
-
if the builder i take them to says they wont work on a 4mil is there any way to get them to work without having to resleeve the cylinder? they are stock bore so id hate to ruin a good cylinder and dump a ton of money into them for just a back up engine. any suggestions would be great!!
-
alright thanks. what is the difference in porting between a 4mil and a stock crank?
-
ok i planned on usind cut domes but the crank i got did come with a spacer. if the porting wont work correctly with the crank will i be able to tell right away with the engine running?
-
so if i use a spacer plate instead of cut domes ill be ok you're saying?
-
ok im getting parts around to put together a spare engine and i got a question about porting. im gonna be putting in a 4mil stroker and i picked up a set of cylinders very cheap from a buddy. they are trail ported cylinders but the only problem is that they were ported on a stock crank engine. is this gonna be a problem putting them on a 4mil or will they work? if its a problem what is the best solution? i def want the 4mil in there so if i have to change something its gonna hafta be the cylinders. thanks in advanced
-
alright thanks again ill measure them up as soon as the calipers come in and post back with the info. another question..what is the best way to go about getting a throttle cable for the carbs? i got a stock one on them now and but its an old cable and doesnt pull good and i know people have said that lectrons need there own special cable. does anyone have one of these or where could i get one?
-
it all depends on your riding style. i do all top end riding and i have shearers. they are awesome from the powerband and up but as for trails..a definate not!!
-
well im still waiting on the digital mic. so far ive adjusted them out 2 1/2 full turns and it hasnt really seemed to affect it too much. if i unthread them all the way will the rods come right out..is that how you change the rods?
