no forward motion please help
fck55mph replied to mustnotknowboutp's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
X2 on that..unless somehow your clutch got out of adjustment, sounds like the plates are fried -
If you dont want to take cylinders off yet, remove the pipes and use a flashlight to take a peek at the exhaust side of the pistons..
-
Yeah, I dont see the need to split the cases...you might even be able to get away with removing the cylinders and using a telescoping magnet, remove it from the crank area without removing the engine
-
I wouldnt try it...too easy to mess it up!! Porting is a little like voodoo and when you want a curse put on someone, you go to the pros!! hahaha....I had mine done by Herr Jugs and the power was night and day and the tech help as far as jetting was awesome. There are a couple other places on here who do porting and Ive seen lots of good responses from all of em...its not that much money and you will be SO happy...trust me!!

You say it makes the sound when the motor is running or cut off and when you roll it?? Put it on a stand and check your axle bearings. Sounds like that might be it

Could it be a clutch side crank seal...sucking trans oil into combustion chamber?

Overflow tank cap popped of twice during riding
fck55mph replied to fck55mph's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I will check the coolant bottle vent tube and go ahead and replace the head gasket. I think I have one in the garage. Thanks for the input guys and especially to Kevin...love the power you hooked me up with!!! -
I have a 97 shee that runs fine, jetted perfect. Yesterday while riding, i noticed the coolant overflow cap popped off. Didn't think too much of it,put it back on and the coolant level was still fine. A while later, it had popped off again. It was not running hot nor has it ever been run hot or low on coolant. Would a bad radiator cap cause the pressure in the system to pop that cap off?? Just wondering if anyone has seen this before....Thanks for any input!!!

hahaha...on a serious note, i did notice quite a bit of difference when i put in my timing plate and put it at +4. not a huuge difference but you could definitely feel it!!

Newbie, help, full throttle at start up
fck55mph replied to mooney's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Watched my buddy do this after he completed a rebuild...the tube that connects the carbs was off. It would shoot to redline. Check that -
I added a timing plate before I did any internal mods and I was quite impressed with the results. Easy to install(if you have the puller) and very well worth the few bucks it cost. Your builder doesnt seem to smart...

Don't forget to also make sure water is not getting into the flywheel area.

Anyone that is on the fence about porting
fck55mph replied to fck55mph's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I sent them out 3 day UPS and it cost me 40. They came back Fed Ex and I didn't notice a shipping fee. He either sent it back free or at a very little fee cuz I didnt notice it. -
I tore my 96 apart cuz it was feeling a little tired and compression was around 110. The plan was, fresh bore and new Wiseco Pro Lites. I decided to call Kevin at Herr Jugs. I told him what, how and where I ride and he recommended a full port job. He did the port work for $300,bored my cylinders and sent me a piston kit&gaskets for $295 and a .030 shaved head for $45 to regain the compression you lose from porting. He told me what jetting to run and everything. He also did the work fast and sent them back promptly. So, for anyone that is maybe trying to decide if they want it done or not..call him and have it done. I just took it for a ride after assembly and man!! It hauls ass and hits ALOT harder and all I did was go through the yard a couple times and 2 quick blasts up and down the street!

It MAY be internal but I had the same thing on mine and the shifter cured it!! I couldn't believe the results!!
-
I had the same bitches about my 96...the shifting felt sloppy. I bought an aftermarket billet shifter(i think from rocky mountain atv) and it cured it. Much more positive shifts. It even clears my boot better

Just look at the boost bottle the same way you would look at that "tornado" thing people put in their car airboxes to boost power and fuel mileage. Matter of fact..I think I might try one of those on my shee now!! hmmm

washed my banshee and now wont start
fck55mph replied to ericstam07's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I did what previous people have already stated. I let it air out real good, sprayed WD40 in there and let it dry out more. I cleaned the trigger and pick up with 320grit(can't remember exactly but I think that was it) and then did my best to make sure no more water would get it. Mine started from washing too. I didn't use a powerwasher either so I figured that water must have had a very easy path to get in. If you are gonna take off your flywheel, you migth as well buy the adjustable timing plate. That is a awesome bang for the buck mod!! Anyway, check the area of that grommet real well and where the wires come in. I put silicone around the grommet and pumped silicone in the wire tube and even cinched two zip ties around the wire tube. Probably overkill but I didn't want to be stranded by 2 ounces of damn water!! Think about that adjustable timing plate though man!! -
washed my banshee and now wont start
fck55mph replied to ericstam07's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
I had the same issue and I replaced the gasket and shot some RTV around the wire grommet and inside the wiring itself. Hasn't gotten wet yet. Most of my water was getting in through the wire tubing itself. I wish there wasn't the big pocket for water to collect on the top of the case. I don't think you will need to pull the flywheel if you let it dry out good and maybe even shoot some WD40 in there and like someone already said, remove any rust from the triggers and pick up. I have a puller if you don't want to purchase it...I can send it to you and you can send it back when you're done....if you have good credit and can give me 27 good references.(just kiddin)
