  1. Is the Type F tranny fluid better or just as good than say Bel Ray(just an example) trans oil?? If so, I will switch in a heatbeat...cheaper and I don't have to drive 30 miles to get it.
  2. VF 3's and bigger, better carbs. Leave the boost bottle in the catalog buddy!!
  3. check to make sure its straight sprocket to sprocket. if your disc guard had been banged up it may be binding on your rear rotor.
  4. yeah, the plug is there and i put a little silicone around it too. I guess, I will buy a new one of those grommets and then re-seal it. I just thought I couldn't be the only one that this happens to. just frikkin annoying as hell is all. thanks for the input
  5. I dont go into deep water or anything, maybe the occasional puddle and a little mud. During some riding and mostly when washing, I keep getting water into the flywheel cover. I have replaced the cover gasket and siliconed the wire grommet but water still comes in a little bit. I notice when I wash the bike, alot of water puddles right there on the cases. Any solutions to this P.I.T.A.??? Thanks for any input!
  6. I was looking for stock graphics for my 98. It is white with the blue decals. I was on Yamaha of Troy looking for them but there are two different part numbers. I assume the decals come in two different colors...my question is does anyone know the code for the blue graphics?? thanks alot!!
  7. On the sleeving note: I sent my cr250 cylinder to L.A. Sleeve and it cost me a total of $220. That included the new sleeve, installation and a Wiseco Pro Lite piston/ring kit. It was a fast turn around as well. Give them a shout or check thier website and call for a price check. Thats the only time I have had anything sleeved so I don't have anyone else to compare them to but they were quick, and fair priced.
  8. check the sprocket gearing...when i got my 96 i couldnt figure why i was shifting through the gears so damn fast when my 88 shee wasnt like that. turned out the previous owner had a 12 tooth front and 43 tooth rear!! it was basically geared for climbing walls!!
  9. i just bought new rims for mine, i have a set of the stock ones(gold anodized color). you can have a front one for the cost of takin tire off and shipping if you cant get it straight
  10. I have an air hose hooked up to my boost bottle. i have the other end of the hose goin to a foot pump that i welded on the left footpeg. when i am riding i pump my left foot up and down...its the perfect homemade forced induction!! dyno sheets show a 47HP improvement!!
  11. I whole-heartedly second the adjustable timing plate!! I did mine recently and it woke it up. Get the correct flywheel puller and the job will take you a whole 20-30 minutes and its WELL worth it.
  12. Man! That +4 timing mod worked wonders! Thanks to those for the advice! It seems to rev quicker and it does pull better!! For those that haven't done it...DO IT!!! Very quick and easy to do..I think it might have taken 30 minutes and with the correct puller, it was a breeze! Next step...NOSS head! Again, thanks to those who gave advice. Love this site!!
  13. CDI box??
  14. Will do..thanks for the advice. I didn't even think that of the fact that they are site sponsors. Definitely want to kick the business their way. Like I said, am I good to go with 21cc's or should I do the check first? I want to be able to run on 93 pump fuel.
  15. I guess my next add-on will be the Pro-Design head. Should I just go ahead with 21cc domes or pull a compression check first? The head seems to be a very reasonable priced mod...does it help alot?
  16. Yes, I have the correct thread in puller. Guess I will do the install tomorrow. Be looking forward to seeing if it gives me a little boost.
  17. Hello all!! I have a 96 with FMF exhaust,Vforce 3's and a kick ass huge boost bottle(kidding!!). I have all the parts and tools here for the +4 advance mod but wanted opinions to see if this is a safe mod for my ride. Everything else is stock(head, stroke, etc) with the exception of a rebuild a year ago with wiseco's. I also have it jetted for the pipes and all and she runs awesome now...just looking for the "go ahead" for this next mod...Thanks!!
  18. i only run golden spectro...have for 15 years and i havent blown a motor using it. i know everyone has their preference but i also go by how my motors look when i do tear em down. golden spectro is my choice.
  19. I have one of those temp radiator caps on my CR500 & 250. I have used them with no problems. You can find those at your local Advance Auto or Autozone
  20. I rebuilt a buddies banshee a bunch of years back and the exact same thing happened. i cut the switch, then pulled plug wires..still revved to the moon. i finally put it gear and held both brakes to make it die. turned out it was the line that connects both carbs..i think its the choke tube or wutever its called. anyway, put that on and it fired right back up and ran like a champ. after the redline right after a rebuild, we figured it was broke in!! haha....i wound up riding it in the sand dune all that weekend and it ran perfect. that might be somewhere to start for ya.
