  1. That frickin' bansheezone site gets a solid 150 hits a day, every day. I find that hard to beleive but its cool. That reminds me... I gotta go change the pic of the day.
  2. They're cold blooded creatures thats for sure, mines got plenty of compression but she's still very hard to start when its freezin' cold. Here's some ideas. Warm up the garage where you keep the quad. Get that room temp up to alteast the mid 50's. I like to place my kerosene heater close to the quad and then i'll leave it the garage for an hour. Warm garage helps. Airscrews. Where do you have em set at ?? The colder it gets the richer you should set yer screws. Turn em both in a half a turn. What size are your pilot jets ? If your running aftermarket pipes then get some size 30 or even 32.5 pilot jets. Learn the cold starting proceedure. Here's mine. First I'll shake the hell outta the quad to mix up the gas in the tank, the newer modern pre-mix oils claim they don't seperate, but its just an old habit of mine to shake er up before I fire it up. So shake the quad up, and keep the engine kill switch in the OFF position and the fuel petcock in the OFF position, hold the throttle wide open and give it 20 good hard fast kicks. This will mix up any gas\oil that settle'd around the bottom of the crank and clear out the combustion chamber. Now turn on the gas. Turn on the run switch. Full choke the bastard. I'll wick the throttle a coupla times, being careful not to flood it. With your kickstarter, bring one piston up to TDC, ratchet the kickstarter to the top of its travel and kick er over. I don't give it any throttle on the first few kicks. If it doesnt start in 5 kicks, give er a little thottle action while your kicking. If it doesnt start in 20 solid kicks, and your sure the engine is in good running condition, stop and rest your kicker foot. You might have it flooded. Turn off the run switch and fuel petcock, hold the thottle wide open and kick it 20 times, this will help "un-flood" it. Its easier to kick if you pop one or both spark plugs out. If the spark plugs are wet, replace em with fresh dry ones. Make sure they're gapped correctly too, if the gap is too small they're harder to start. Don't want something silly like a .020 gap causing you all your headaches.... or should I say... footaches . TAKE THAT CAN OF STARTER FLUID AND GIVE IT TO YOUR NEIGHBOR AND NEVER EVER USE THAT SHIT AGAIN ON YOUR 2-STROKE. A better method, for the sake of those pistons, is to pull out one or both plugs and put a very small amount of your pre-mixed gasoline down the sparkplug hole. You only need a little bit of gas, like a soda bottle cap full at most. When its 14 degrees outside and my Banshee sits for a week, its a mofo to start. I have plenty of compression too, its just the nature of the beast. A warm garage really helps tho. Good luck and wear a good pair of boots, iv put many of hole in sole of my right sneakers
  3. They're not designed to be replaceble. But anything is possible with a big hammer and a welder.
  4. holy shit the banshee zone is number 3 on that list. I havent checked that since the first day I put that banner up a few months back. OoooooOoo Im right behind BHQ. Where on BHQ is the banner located so we can vote em up?
  5. Hey i was readin this the other day. The quake was caused by plate techtonics, one plate slid under the other plate and made the earth more "compact" which makes the earth spin just a little faster. And I thought it was 3 miliseconds per day, not every second. And the quake did cause the earth to tilt on its axis by an inch, but it doesnt matter cause....... the earth has a natural wobble and depending on the time of the year its axis wobbles up to a 33 feet wobble, so an inch means nothing. But it is pretty wild tho
  6. we were just talking about CF2 We should do it, I'd bet we get twice as many people to come this year. How many people were at the first CoalFest, including wives and children ?? I'd bet there was alteast 75 people at coalfests camp. Coal Hill is going to be packed with riders this summer because of the Huevos video.
  7. I got to see H7 tonight, the coal hill section with Dunk jumpin down the face was great. A must see. Coal Hill area is where we held coalfest last year. We camped about a mile away from the mountain. Its the same hillclimbs that Banchetta rolled his Banshee from the very top. JKJK got some great footage of that. 03 Orange shee, Coal Hill is your stomping ground too Do ya recoginize the place Do you know where on the mountain that Dunk the big cliff jump ? I'll have to get up to that very spot and take some pictures. Im afraid to walk to the edge of that cliff, I don't know how he survived launching off it. Much respect to Jason D. ..... and for the dude who rolled down the hill....... I don't know who he is.... but he might be the best part in the whole video !!! I havent laughed so hard in years. I will track him down and get his autograph, I'll try to get a picture of him sitting on my Banshee this summer. That guy rules ! There's always a few locals at the hill and Id betcha he's a local. Treverton and Shamokin sit right next to each other and the terrain here is the rolling appalacian(sp) moutains..... well there's a lot of interesting people living outside of town and in those rolling moutains and valleys, some real winners His roll in the Bonus section of the DVD was even better than his first roll. He flipped over 20 times rolling down that hill. He's standing at the very top and does a few streches and neck rolls then he just jumps right down the face of the steepest part of the hill and does 20 rolls till he stops at the bottom, fuckin hilarous The Directors Cut was great too. The Banshees in philly was my second favorite part. NYUK I swear I seen you in Huevos7, there's some really nice drag banshees just like yours in the dvd, you gotta check it out. The backflips were cool, showed about 10 of em. The helmet cam view during a backflip was just terrific to watch. Its perfectly smooth and you can follow the whole rotation, spot the landing ramp and stomp it perfectly.... all through the view of a helmet cam. A damn good helmet cam The trucks mud bogging was pretty cool, it was a nice break from the quads. Did anyone catch what was written on the tailgate of that one Chevy truck ? We paused it and read it The Baja500 section was killer good too. The high speeds, the helicoptor filming it. The trophy trucks, lots of trophy truck footage. One scene shows a guy on a quad, Eichner possibly, and he's just haulin' flat wide open down this desert road and there's a big black trophy truck 20 feet behind em. They were truckin'. The had two GNCs, Loretta Lynns and Glen Helen. The road riding in the Dominican Republic looked like fun. Id love to ride around town like that. All in all, I thought it was a really really good video. Better than the last 3 iv seen. H3 was good, H4 was better. H5&H6 were sucky if ya ask me. But H7 is really good. Might be the best one Iv seen yet. Oh, filmed again in 16mm and it looks and sounds great. I liked the sound track, it was really good in fact. We watched it in surround sound on a big screen and the video's production was beautiful to watch. They used alot of slo motion, and it looked great. Thumbs up Mr.Miller. bravo. COAL HILL
  8. off the top of my head... I think the dies were 150-200 bucks apeice depending on what degree they bent to. The degree wheel was another $125 and I think the bender itself was $250 or 300. All the prices are listed somewhere on thier site. Whatta think about that bender ? Looks nice to me, doesn't look like Chinese crap, in fact I think they proudly say made in the usa on their website. I wanna fiddle around with frames and removable subframes. Looks like a ton of fun to me.
  9. About an hour left. Nice little mod. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...item=4513277942
  10. Look at these nice benders. I'll have one at income tax time... I have big plans for one of these... http://www.probenders.com
  11. Jeez I hope no one got offended by sayin the RTC levers are expensive
  12. we got an extra 15 minutes on our lunch break cause we had a little x-mas party. I work maintence so I always take an extra 15 minutes for lunch, more like 30 minutes extra. So we didnt get anything at my job.
  13. I was looking for a new front brake lever. Found a nice RTC lever. $40 bucks. Forty dollars for a stinkin' brake lever. Its crazy. I guess I can see billet aluminum parts costing more because of the CNC costs and the costs of billet alum.
  14. happy birfday old man. how old are ya ?
  15. I'll agree with that. Heims flex advantage would work better on a long travel setup. There are ball joints that can acheive high angles tho, akit of A-arm brands use ball joints, other brands swear by heims. Sredish, you mentioned mud and heims. XC racing is mud racing at 50% of the races. The vast majority of Pro racers use ball joints. Yokley and Duvall use heims in thier Roll arms.... I think. Everyone else uses ball joints. Prolly cause of the mud and maintence reasons. Id like to own a set of the heim end tie rods. how they working out for ya ?? Post some pictures, what brand are they ? Someone just posted a picture of American Star heim end tie rods somewhere on the forum, they looked cool. Honda style tie rod too.
  16. Yes thats correct. 1-4 is as wide as they come, 3-2 is wider than 4-1 but narrower than 1-4, and 4-1 would make your quad the narrow'est. not sure if there's a 2-3 offset but there probably is.
  17. those numbers are inches. they are measured from the outside edge of the rim to the center plate of the rim. 4\1 rims for example. If you'd take a tape measure, the inside of the rim(part mounted facing the brake rotor) you would get 4 inches from the edge of the rim to the center mountin plate. Take your tape measure to the other side(outside) of the rim, and you should get one inch from the edge of the rim to the center mounting plate. I think your thinkin' A-arms.
  18. Heims will have a better range of motion over ball joints and the ones Iv seen are rated a higher tensil strength than ball joints. Ball joints have an advantage tho, they require less maintence than a heim because they are enclosed in a rubber boot. Now there's rubber boots for heims and if you take care of your quad\heims they should last just as long as ball joints. Heims are relatively new in ATV applications, but have been used in automobiles for years. Iv seen pictures of those million dollar Baja trucks with the 3 foot long shocks using Heim joints. I have Heim joints in my A-arms and after 3 years they are showing some play. But im not going to replace em just yet, they have the slightest wiggle in em and I'm not worried about it, hell there's 10 times more flex in my front tires than whats in my Heims. A-arms with heavy duty ball joints are very nice tho, Iv personally seen some hight quality ball joints and they look super tough and really industructable. I wouldnt be afraid to use either type, look more at the quality of the A-arms when buying a set of arms, research the products reputation.
  19. thanks scott thats the thread I was lookin' for. And I did put my name is as the "author of the thread" or whatever.... and still couldnt find the thread. I'll get some pictures of my mods soon. I have it all ripped apart now. I got some long travel A-arms to show yas. I wanna go to Texas and race the first GNCC round, who's goin' with me ? Road trip !!!
  20. I didnt get to see that part yet... only seen the first few minutes, the stuff before the backflip footage.
  21. I caught the beginning of the video today and got to see some of the Coal Hill video shots. Did ya all see Dunkelburger jump off the top and land 40 feet down the hill !!! Its crazy. God I love Coal Hill !! I'll get to watch the rest of the video soon, but damn they had a pile of Coal Hill stuff right at the begining. FYI Coal Hill is my practally my backyard and Iv spent countless hours there. Grew up playing on that hill before we even rode bikes. I could walk there from my paps house.
  22. how much do high quality heims cost ? ya wanna split hairs ? I didnt say R&D costs make up ALL of a companies profit either.
  23. coop. no prob
  24. quite a bit, id say about 5 to 7 mph. you should re-gear for the differnent size rear tires. 13 tooth front sprocket for 22 inch rear tires and a 14 tooth front sprocket for 20 inch diameter rear tires.
