    Usually when the main is to lean the piston melts. I've seen it happen more then once. This was not the case.

    I ran my 492 with 35mm carbs for years with 145 mains and a 40 pilot. When I went to 38mm carbs i run 162 main and 45 pilot. Every motors different..I also jetted a couple 421 cubs. There mains were in the 165 range, 45 pilot.

    Personaly, I think what you say makes perfect sence. I have nearly, the same motor. I had to file my domes to get them to fit. I only rode it 2 times. but it ran great.

    Call me crazy, but I dont think its the domes. I have the same motor, but mine has 73.5 bore. I never had any problems. I think it was a jetting issue. But I guess we'll see today when Brian gets it apart.

    The PV's weren't dirty, but one fell apart. We fixed that. I didn't ride it after that.

    Rappy, I have 38mm carbs on mine. And 25cc domes. Also have a drag port. IDK what Carl has for porting.

    I think your going to find there getting hard to find parts for. TDR is the only place I can find that has the pistons, gaskets, ect.

    I helped happy take these parts off the bike. The carriers is like new. Good bearings, ect. The Axle is in good shape. Splines are good ect.

    I have a new Wiseco piston for a 04-05 Yamaha YFZ 450. Its new, never used..But it's only the piston ( no rings, pin or clips ) Its been laying around the garage for years collecting dust. It's a 95.00 bore. 13:1 high compession piston. Part # 4835M09500 Im asking $40 shipped.

    I got one for hill climbing.. The hills we ride on are very steep, and alot of times have no more then a 5ft run. Its just easier to upshift on a steep hill with the overide. I never had any issues with the stock trans, I just like the overide better.

    You won't need any trans mods to run it..I ran mine for 2 yrs before I got a cut trans. A duneable override is nice. But you'll be ok without it.
