what kind of heads is best ?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to acadien506's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Free head is the best head. +2+1 means 2" wider per side and moves the spindlel forward 1". +3+1 is then 3" wider and still 1" forward. You'll want shocks set up for the wider arms as the leverage on them is greater. -

Has anyone here ever dealt with MacDizzy? His site was one of the first ones I ever was on. I read everything he posted....till I saw his personal bike What a piece of shit! A really ratty looking Honda 250R. 75%-80% of the members of the other big sites have nicer looking rides. I understand that looks aren't everything.......but I'd like to think that anyone who is going to post all that info as if they were helping lead you all to the promise land, might have a nice looking bike. Sadly that was not the case. I stopped reading anything he wrote at that point because I wouldn't go to a personal trainer, if the guy was 30lbs over weight.....I wouldn't go to a marriage counsler who was divorced.....And I just can't take advice on how to make a motor/bike "Bad Ass", from a guy who's bike just looks like Ass. I don't know......maybe he's an "Old School Guru" and I'm just not familiar with his reputation. Anybody know anything more about him that I'm not familiar with? -
maybe you should weld a hitch receiver to the front of your frame. Then you can get one of those flat carrying racks that people use on their cars when they go camping. Or the water tight storage box style. Just trick yourself out like an old school biker, with your bedroll on the bars with all your junk rolled up in it. Or cut you plastics at the base of you radiator, put a hinge on it like a toybox, then make a box that hangs from the frame between the A-arms. I know guys fit large 4-stroke batteries in that spot. Don't know how much room your looking for, but between that and a fanny pack strapped to the front bumper....you should be able to carry alot of items. Otherwise your going to look funny with your backpack on backwards like a baby carrier, trying to shift your weight forward for those hill climbs.
-
I agree. I don't think it's your lines. I know you said you rebuilt the master......But I've had new parts in the box that were bad. You might have screwed it up, or the parts you used may have been poor quality. My best friend has 1994 lines and they are still fine.....and his bike was stored outside in Chicago weather for 8 of those years!

Do YOU do it, or did you send it out? Where did it get done? I'd like to do a bike in Carbon Fiber Orange! -
Everybody in the fast friends MI crowd is a polisher. Chrome and anodizing is what we need now. Damian...(Sheefreak from MI of course) did all my stuff. Carbs too.

You'll learn faster and have better help in the days and years to come if you start by getting a CYMERS manual for your machine. It's full of picture like you just asked for, all your machines torque specs and step by step instruction for thigs like that. The cable can't pop off there unless your bolt and bracket came off that holds the cable in place. Sounds like you may need some pieces.....

New 4 stroke banshee !
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Michael Jackson's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I don't know for sure what "Technically" makes a Banshee a Banshee. But I'm sure a 4-stroke doesn't "Scream like a Banshee" wether it has one cylinder or two. I AM SURE that photoshopping a picture, doesn't make it anywhere near a reality........So let's not debate if it's a YFZ or a Banshee.......it's an April Fools GAG. What WE CAN call it is an old stale fantasy. At least dream bigger than a CanAm 800, Thundercat 1000, etc. There are R1 Banshees and YamaBusas listed on Ebay every couple of months. Drop coin on one of those, or fire up the welder and make it happen. -
What all are you trying to carry? Let's see......A samich....bottle-o-beverage......2-spark plugs....plug wrench....a few jets and a jet tool....Camera.... insurance card......And BAIL MONEY! LOL. I've never seen a Banshee with saddlebags.... Hope I never do. Is it concealed carry if your gun is in an ammo box strapped in plain sight to the front of your machine? You got a VOID card for that banshee son? Wrap the webbing of the straps of a fanny pack through the front bumper. It'll be like a back pack for your front. If you need a "Rack " for a banshee...you need to do a machine change........or leave the purse at home. Carefull, that thing behind your purse on the rack is a radiator. Just playin' OK, let's see some pictures of some Hillrod rack contraptions......

What's the ballpark price to do the drag bike like you did? Snoop. I thought you had a CAMO bike..........looks more like a TETRIS bike. -
They are adjustable for whatever size motor you have. You order them per your set-up. They aren't like a CPI or Shearer with a Small bore/Big bore offering. If you have your CC's, port timings, compression, etc. They will design a custom pipe for your motor. The section sizes are designed so that they can change them before welding, to shape them to fit your motors needs...............Sooner or later we'll know weather the product is worth all the hype. I'm either running Shearers or Snipers this next season. I'll have some good info from my buddy, hopefully in the next week or two. I'd love to see M+M have a set made for the Serval.
-
It's a DUNCAN RACING bumper...or no bumper at all!
-
Because "Our World" is snowed in on an EPIC level. The "other guys" are running OOF pipes wide open at glamis. Most (Not all) but most of the In-Frame crowd is in hibernation. I'm waiting like you. I have a friend who will be getting his set for his 4mill DM soon, and he's going straight to the dyno......So I'll let you know what he finds out. I'd like to hear how they work for 4-10 mill cubs, 4-10 mill DM's, and 4-10 mill Servals.....
-
Plug has a little locking clip. Other than that.....try a very small flat blade screwdriver as a pry tool and slowly work it out. Look close though to make sure your pulling the right parts apart. Some of the plugs have a 3 piece look, when it's two pieces your looking to serarate.
-
I have a 472. It's a 4mil 72 bore. Or you can go bigger. It might be a 72.5 bore. A 73 bore is the 485 and the 73.5 bore is the 492. But if he was trying to run an FMF pipe on that motor....he surely built way too much heat into it. It might have run for a while, but not all day. Heck for an offer of $2,000 you might get a great deal. On the other hand....you might literaly get a steal. Whatever it is, it's going to need new domes, because ALL the 4mill cheetahs come with a incorrect dome design. Buy it and part it!

Your problem is obviously in the master. Swap that with one from a YFZ450 and You'll more than likely see and end to your issue.

New 4 stroke banshee !
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Michael Jackson's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Yeah, I think it's widely understood who's running the propaganda machine that is Dirtwheels. I knew the fix was in when they did an artical on a 4cylinder supercharged lay down drag bike that Trinity was working on.....and the damn thing didn't even work! It was SO FAR from working, that they had mothballed the project. But that didn't stop the puppy love editors from running a story on a failed build by their beloved benefactor. -

Cam, I think I can speak for us all when I say..........I think we call all stand to hear a little less about your "Ass blasting floppy dick." I think we know what you mean .......But save that talk for your other late night forums. -
Stolen Cases, please keep an eye out
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to dajogejr's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Whoever stole the truck will more than likely see them as scrap aluminum. I'll bet they end up at a scrapper. I know that when a bunch of my stuff was stolen....It turned out that they cut my 12 paddle Taller Haulers off the rims to scrap the aluminum. They also ruined my Sand star fronts, a full set of Holeshots, and a full set of stockers for the same reason. But it sure doesn't hurt to put the word out there. Sorry to hear about your unauthorized charitable contribution. You know they used to HANG "horse" thieves.........Wouldn't this qualify? -
Tradin in the banshee.
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to bluebanshee421's topic in General Banshee Discussion
specialbled07 thinks this is a Honda 400EX forum. It's called BANSHEE HEADQUARTERS. What were you expecting people to say? I like 4-strokes too. I'm looking for a YFZ450 right now. But I'm not getting rid of any banshees. P.S.....If you have to rev your machine way up to make power....you don't have shit for power. As for a Raptor 700....I like the white and blue 07 special edition. -
He said it was a cheetah cylinder.....still need to know if we're talking "Cheetah" or "Cub".

banshee smashes spark plug electrode?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to dtr7720's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
ok so i was riding my banshee through a feild and it suddenly died, i got it back to my house, and took the top end off, and the piston was smashes to s#!t and it there was some scoring on the side of the cylinder? but does anybody know wat happened, we couldnt find any peices of metal so im guessing there in the exhaust, but nay help is appreciated! This happens alot with Banshees. I don't know if this fits your situation, but guys get a machine that was owned and modded by someone else. They get on and ride it figuring the other guy had it working fine so why worry. (Or you change a part and hope it won't need jetting because checking jetting is tiresome.) Well, many times Banshees get ridden in slower situations most of their life. Lot's of 3-4 gear stuff. Very little time in 5-6 totally wound out with the throttle pinned. So the previous owner thought the jetting was fine. You might own it for a while and think the same thing. Problem is, the day you find a nice flat turf farm or flat open field and decide to let her totally rip, you find out your jetting at Wide Open Throttle is too lean......you find it out the hard way. (This happens to the sled guys too, the first time they make a run across a frozen lake!) This leads people to think you can't run WOT for a long time. You can if your jetted safe. 99% of the time if your machine gets hot, it's jetting. Sometimes it can be that your going very slow and running with high revs in 1-2 gear. But most situations involving a Banshee that's running hot....it's jetting. I'd say that was the issue you had going on in the field. Detonation can cause electrodes to bend and the ceramic of the plugs as well as ground straps to crumble, fail and melt. This is most likely the reason for the piston damage. Another possibility would be an air leak in a motor seal or a failed crank or rod bearing going through and getting chewed up. But I'd start with looking into your jetting. Dump your head pipes out and see if there is any bits and pieces in there.......See if you can tell if it's leftover plug pieces, or metal bearing bits. I'm sure if you can post pics, other members will tell you for sure what went down. So you've burned up a top end......welcome to the club. -
New 4 stroke banshee !
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to Michael Jackson's topic in General Banshee Discussion
I got the new banshee! You start by replacing everything that came stock with aftermarket, from the frame to the plastics to the cylinders etc. I've got all the modern technology. Metal tech +4 chromoly frame, 472cc CP cylinders, WPK carbs, V-force reeds, Custom Arched Stellar swingarm, Elka's. Why would I want a 500cc 4-stroke banshee? My wife's 370 long rod banshee can outrun a fairly modded Raptor 700. What's a 500cc Machine going to do? Just calling something a "Banshee" doesn't make it fast. Chevy had a stupid front wheel drive piece of crap they called a "Nova", but it didn't run like the old 350/396/472/454 NOVA. Dirt wheels actually thinks they have the power to influence the industry. The stupid April Fools issue isn't going to get Yamaha to design something based on an April fools gag. They have made that YFZ looking Banshee for years.....it's call a YFZ with a 513 big bore kit. You could own one today. Heck put some Banshee stickers on a YFZ and send it to dirt wheels, telling them you did R+D and got some top secrete pictures. I bet you'll end up in DirtWheels. -
Can jets really make a major difference?
WINDYCITYJOHN400 replied to troyzstang's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
WTF would you run CPI Big Bore pipes on a stock motor with stock carbs, etc.? (I know it doens't sound like an answer to your problem....but it just might be a little part of the cause. NOTE: Bigger isn't always better. Yes, jets can make a big difference. Too big and you foul out plugs and loose HP from to rich a mixture. Too small and you burn up the whole pile of aluminum.
