What are you guys using to pack your silencers? And good packing out there that I should stay away from, or any that are better than others? I am going to pack my silencers this week as I was in need for awhile but I want to do it ASAP. If the local shop doesn't have it in stock, I can order it or get it online. What are you guys using and generally how much do you go through with 2 silencers?

I was never pissed off for 2 weeks straight like that before. It realled sucked I am going out to climb some hills for the afternoon... I am going to take the camera
-
No problem... they are here if you change your mind. I agree though on the trailtechs, they look pretty good and from what I hear really light up nicely
-
If you need bulbs, let me know. I can send some out your way. It'll cost 1 or 2 bucks, I can just ship them to you, no biggie. I can ship them Monday morning with my hubs to another member. I have 4 bumbs sitting around.... 2 new, 2 used. All 4 work. Just let me know.

The hubs are going out Monday lol... I got Lonestars though, just need to get the bolts for them. I currently have it at 160 mains, 50 pilots, CEL on 3rd clip, screw 1.5 turns out. But will most likely drop to 158 mains and settle there. -
 Hey man, I am just giving credit where credit is due... I won't sit back and let such a day like this blow by without giving the man who gave his Saturday and sweated all over with me not take credit for this. Butch made this happen and desrves more than a hug... I do not know what you mean by the gap and coin question... We took my spark plug gap from .030 down to .020... and took the pickup gap down to a hair comapred to the gap it was at. I belive it was at 93 thousanths. Like I said, I doubt in a situation like I should be acting like a tuff ass bansee owner SOB... I am thankd=ful that I had help today. Many guys here will experience it some day as well, maybe not with a banshee, or something mechanical, but you will be very thankful when you feel like you have no other direction to turn... Butch, and Kevin, were both there to lend a helping hand. And were happy to do it. That's a case of beer right there, not just 1...

2 weeks yesterday... I just can't believe the local bike mechanics. I really can't. The one did a few banshees over the past year. I wonder if it has something to do with me having Kevin porting/honing and not him? Who knows But the important thing is there are great people out there. I am more pumped about meeting Butch than having the thing running good. He hunts, rides, catches a few fish, etc. He is just a clone of me who knows alot about these bikes. There are still GREAT people out there!!! And Jack, I can't forget about you my main man.... my WWI helmet wearing drinking brother. I know you wanted to take a swing at this as well. You wanted no profit, just wanted to help a guy out. I appreciate it. The only reason Butch took that swing was because he runs these motors and they run the same one down that way. I can't thank you enough for wanting to help to get me back on the black hills. Matt, you too. You tried, but I know how busy you are. Kids, work, your own shit, etc. Thanks man. And everyone who talked me out of the parting the bike out... I can name about 15 guys on here. Thank you guys. I am going to have a little conversation with the local "bike builder". Very disappointing. I could have just looked in the Clymer on the pickup gap but took his word. Very disappointing. Butch knows his bikes. Spun the stator, and saw the VERY OFF pickup gap instantly. And he has his won little secret of measuring it too... very cool. This is alot my fault for not taking responsibility on checking this. But this guy does a few banshees a year that rip. I hate to say it, but I did before... I think it might have something to do with another builder doing my bike and me coming to him, with him knowing I ride with his builds... I just tried jetting it, etc... and went nowehre. So I went to have a guy that I knew take a look at it, etc. And some bad info was relayed back to me. I didn't even double check it as I would think since he builds nice bikes, he should know. But the main thing is we got it going... I made a great friend today and will be visiting again soon. Kevin can make a motor go, hands down. It has 3x what it had with a 2 into 1 and every bolt on imaginable. No joke. It is going to be a tough stock stroke bike to beat... Thanks Kevin for being so patient. Most guys would take the money, and be done with it. You stuck with me, and you are a stand up class act person, and a businessman as well. Maybe if Butch didn't mind the coal dirt he would visit us!!! Thanks Butch, and Thanks Kevin! And all you HQ'ers who kept me chugging along... thanks guys. Every last one of yous. Except you fags who wanted my plastics and pipes. You guys can go pound sand because they are staying here hehe

I am running 105 and it shows no signs of detonation. I will be running pure 110 this week just to be safe. But I couldn't be more pleased. Butch is very smart... not to mention has the sickest banshees I have ever seen. Really cool bike, and the man is just straight forward. Great guy. Felt like he was my friend from the first handshake. The drive isn't that bad... I am going to watch a race or two, and he in return will come up here sooner or later to climb some coal hills or just hang out and watch. He got a kick out of the coal dirt on my bike since I didn't get a chance to wash it as I was working on it all week (s)... he thinks it's nasty lol which in all reality, it is....

Paid Butch (00tbanshee) a little visit today... I originallt thought the problem was fixed with that air leak, and I think there was a tad more to it... Yes, that air leak I think was a big part of the problem tuning, jetting, etc. But I took it down today into Maryland to Butch's house, and we really got into some tinkering. The local mechanics around here are an absolute joke... pickup gap was 4x higher than what it should have been. He told me it was ok, this and that, let's move onto bigger things, etc. UNBELIEVABLE. To think this guy builds motors and tells people this, You guys know the situation I was in... I take it to someone to check it out, and they tell me the pickup gap is normal. I learned alot today, alot of things i didn't know. Butch saw it right away. Put it back to normal, gapped the plugs a little tigher, and she plain out screams. I am just speechless... had it out since 4 pm, and it just got dark 20 minutes ago. I smiled for the first time in a long time today... Butch is a top notch guy. Taking the woman to see him race next weekend. Both of us are excited as all heck. HJR all the way!!! Kevin can flat out do some serious work. Beat a few local ported banshees today by A LONG SHOT. And I made a good friend today as well. Thanks Butch!

Where I'm at on the bike

Yes, it is very wierd. I had a suzuki 250r and Honda 250r and never had these problems after assembling motors. It is being very stubborn... very stubborn Thanks for the hopeful wishes, I am keeping the fingers crossed we can make this run like a monster. -
No joke here... $20 will get you the easiest pulling lever out there. It is made by MAGNUM. It's the EZ Pull lever. I felt an ASV, and the MAGNUM. It is just as easy, maybe easier, and is only $20. Just my .02. I just got it and I love the thing. I will use these until they stop making them. I had a hard clutch due to putting heavy duty springs in the clutch. My stock lever was giving my arm some serious pump. I put this one on and I use 2 fingers now instead of my whole hand. And I am a strong guy. You will not be disappointed... Like I said, just my .02. Many won't take it for much with the problems I am having with my bike right now lol.

Where I'm at on the bike

Yes, as of right now, this should be a fast fix hopefully. The thing is I just didn't feel like tuning it after working on it ALL day again. But it still might not be the problem. I don't know as it is really rich off the bottom right now, as well as idle. I just shut it off and said screw it, I will tune it tomorrow with Butch. I couldn't look at it anymore after the time I put on the wrench today. Plus Butch knows how there motors should run. It will be assurance for me that if he says it's good, it's good. Because I don't know how they should run. Supposedly alot of power to make anyone pleased but not me yet. That's why there has to be something wrong. But like I said, I didn't mess with tuning it after I found and fixed the air leak in the intake. So I am keeping my fingers crossed we can swap a few jets in, play with some needle clips and air screws, and call it a day. But the little I did run it (1st 2 gears by the house)... it is still running like a dog compafred to my stock non ported jugs and the 2 into 1 carb setup I had before. So I am guessing I only fixed part of the problem. Should be interesting... but if Butch can't figure this out, the bike is a gonner for sure as there is nobody in my parts, or state of Pennsylvania, that can fix this. Nobody even wants to mess with it. I had 2 mechanics that work on bikes all the time shrug their shoulders and point me to another place. That other place didn't fix it either. So let's hope... it's a bad part somewhere. 2 strokes, as most of us know, are pretty simple. They can be very complex if you can't swap parts like in my situation with another guy. -
we have some questionable guys on the board

I feel confident that I just fixed the problem, but now it needs to be tuned. After I fixed the leak, I started it and it was rich as hell. Which is making sense due to it sucking air before the fix. I'll officially give up if tomorrow yields no improvement... -
Hey man, no problem. You never know when you may need that other one, or maybe put it in your other bike. It works for sure. Well worth it. These things get hot pretty quick if you get on them. I have 1 or 2 extras sitting in the garage on the bench for whenever I may need it. I saw more coolant leaks in my time out in the coal hills than I can care to mention. If you don't have an extra when you get home, what are you going to use, you know? That's why having that extra 1 might be a good idea. You will like that stuff though if you never used it before.
-
Just a tad under 1/2 gallon. They come in 1/2 gallon jugs If you drained it completely, whic you should if you were using other coolants in there, it will take 1/2 gallon, like .45 gallons. I had some left over

Where I'm at on the bike
TeamRealtreeHD replied to TeamRealtreeHD's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
When I fixed the leak today (I brought the bike to my place today) as the other guy had a head off a 250 quadracer he was porting. So I took it home to do it. But I got it done, and put it back together. The air leak was fixed, all bolts tighhtened. I started it up and it was runnning really rich now. I am thinking due to the air not getting in anymore, it richened it up. Smoky and rich. That would make sense now that air was not getting in. I bet it will be a ton easier to jet now. But still something wrong. C&B, with that compression, according to Kevin and others, puts me right around 104-106 Octane. Any other input from anybody before me and Butch get surgical on this thing tomorrow? -

Fixed the leak, cleared it up a bunch. But still not responding to the throttle down low (1/8-1/4). Heck if you puch it it might die out. I knew the leak wasn't going to clear it up all the way. Who knows... we will see what me and Butch can do tomorrow. -

I think you may be onto something there.... honestly, a few people are mentioning this, and it is all starting to make sense. It's like putting a puzzle together. I am heading over to work on her now.... Thanks everyone for the advice. I think we might be kicking this problem to the curb either today or tomorrow. -
Good luck... I will chalk that one up as a bad tester too. The ones at Auto Zone are pretty nice.

Good to hear blanco... everyone keeps telling me this, I have yet to feel the power I had on my 2 into 1 non ported setup. It ripped and now I am in shambles lol I have faith, it just wants to make you punch a whole in the thing when everything you try isn't working. Hopefully I didn't get a dud for a motor. That's not the problem though. Just have to check this leak out with new gaskets/o-rings and then if that's not the problem, Butch is going to get involved in this mess too lol I think we will get it going, I just need someone (and Butch is the man for the job) to swap parts with and someone who knows Kevin's motors close by. I think I can make it to his place in 1.5 hours if I drive my truck like I drive the banshee -
good deal on fullbores if anyone is interested
