  1. A buddy of mine finally got his bike up and running after it seized 3 years ago. He rebuilt it with the following: -Vito's Forged pistons, gaskets, bearings, etc. (their top end kit basically) He has a Pro Design Cool Head on the thing with 17cc domes No timing K&N filter in the airbox with the lid off, running stock carbs FMF Fatties with Power Core 2 Silencers 2 weeks ago was rebuild time, he has 8-9 gallon burnt through it as we speak We are at 1300ft ASL I did a compression test tonight and got 192 on the right, and 193 on the left. Now without any timing, doesn't that seem high??? It sure does to me for some reason. My bike last year, with stock HJR ported cylinders, running 17cc domes and +4 timing was right around 185. Those Vito's pistons can't be the difference, atleast not that much. Or could it? I would like to see what you guys think. I am stumped on that one lol
  2. If they are just tight and you can't get the bolt loose from the screw, I like PB blaster to loosen bolts up. But really, anything like wd-40 to just get in there and loosen things up will work. If you can't get it out of the a-arm after the bolt is off, tap it with a screw driver to get it to move through the arm. But watch so the threads don't get squished... Sometimes they can be a bastard if they haven't been off in awhile...
  3. The pivot bolts?
  4. What are you guys using for alarm systems on your bikes? I found some good ones but they are for bikes with batteries, I was thinking of putting something on the bike, sand if it moved, I would have something on me that would go off in the house. Like a little sensor or something. Any agvice on a good system out there you would recommend???
  5. Engine Ice is good shit... it really is. Firm believer here...
  6. It's a good precaution to do (crank welding) especially if the motor is pushing out the ponies... but if yourmotor isn't modified much, shouldn't need to. But it is a very good thing to do if you want to be on the safe side.
  7. To be completely honest... and this is coming from the bottom of my heart... If I didn't have to tune and jet, I wouldn't feel like I owned a banshee or a real machine. Don't get me wrong lobo... I love the fact that you run that, made that machine, and know your shit. That is good stuff, without a doubt. Incredible that we have those options. And I tip my hat to you that you took the charge like that to save a big buck. I repeat, big buck. Good for you my man. But with me, tuning, and ripping into the carbs on a cool morning preparing for a hot day later on, is what being a banshee owner is all about. The main reason I wanted a banshee to be honest, because I love ripping into them.
  8. I would never run E85. Not to mention the fact I don't have a place anywhere around to get the stuff It wouldn't do me justice to run it and switch over the entire setup
  9. Run 17cc domes with that setup... it will tear it up Especially if you are running straight 110. I had the same setup, although I had the hillshooter port job and ran my timing at +5 You will love it...
  10. Little dumb fuck... lol This site is the best
  11. Still got parts here to move... Stock footpegs are back for sale. $10+shipping Stock gas cap make offer Stock swinger, looks great, no paint chips, make offer Stock crank, zero play, great shape $95 shipped OBO
  12. Cloise all bleeders and openings... fill with fluid, take rear resevoir lid off, keep at a good level... Pump, pump pump, pump, then reach back there with the wrench and open the bleeder, while holding the brake pedal down. Don't let off the pedal during the opening of the bleeder. Close the bleeder. Pump pump pump, hold down, open bleeder. Do this, may take a while... then all of a sudden, you will have pressure. Back is easy, fronts, well they take awhile.
  13. Kevin said it will work... Although we ripped a buddy's bike down, who ran straight av gas for 2-3 years on the same build, and his domes were pretty thick with carbon deposits, etc. He mixes his rich with klotz though, 32:1 and sometimes even more like 25:1. Don't know why... But his bike was piped, 18cc domes, cool head, stock carbs, non-ported. Basic mods. Don't know his compression, I would guess in the 150-160 range if I was to estimate when that motor was fresh... But Kevin said it wouldn't hurt, he ran it before. I just don't know if I want to chance it. I wish I could run it, sure beats the $8.90 a gallon for the race fuel here (Sunoco CAM 2 Maximal 116). I am currently mixing that with pump 93 to get around 104-105, but this motor will run on 100 just fine. Just skeptical about it... mostly because I see alot of slightly modded banshees running fine on it, but not much from the guys running heavily modded bikes like mine.
  14. Ahhhhhhh..... I dis two words. Seems like it is 50/50 on opinions on it. With my cub, I may be best set to just pay for the race gas
  15. Thanks guys for helping guide me to the links... Everything I put in the search utton, told me "an error hasoccured, etc." I appreciate you guys taking the time...
  16. I did... and found zero results
  17. I have been skeptical for a long time about running it... I have a few buddies running it for several years with no problems. I have access to it for around $3.40 a gallon. It is hovering around 100 octane I suppose, maybe more. I called Kevin at HJR since he built my motor. He says it would be fine to run in the cub with 23cc domes and +4 timing. He ran it in his bikes before. The gas I have been getting was Sunoco Maximal, 116. Mixed it with 93 pump. But that is just expensive, so might be switching to it after I run out of the 10 gallon I got here... Anyone running it?
  18. Looking for a set of stock studs for the cylinders... in good condition obviously and not stripped.
  19. My bike was 185 PSI last year before I tore it down and it ran fine on 50/50... 116 with 93 pump to make 105ish That was a ported stock jugged, 17cc domed, +5 timing build at 1300 ft abl
  20. I will put the motor in, see how it fits. If it's too tight, or a little tight for my liking, I plan to buy the washers and bolts and shim it if need be, because I can't grind these chromed pegs lol
  21. Crank has good bearings, no wiggle at all... looks great. $100 OBO
  22. Nick, thank you for the response. I got a panckae bearing ready to go for it. I really appreciate the info, and enjoy your summer. Tony
  23. Got a direct drive lockout from Jeff at FAST... He says there shouldn't be any modifying the peg or anything on the right side. He is sending a cover, the lense, the clutch, etc. The whole thing. Just wondering if any of you guys had any troubles? I trust his word, and many others told me it should be fine. Only reason I am worried is because I just got polished chrome footpegs, and don't really feel like chopping into the right side peg lol... to make it fit. Thanks guys!
  24. What size rim? 10"?? I might be able to set you up that day you arrive...
