  1. i did say i run the flats. i know my banshee wouldnt pull it but if he's ported he might be able to. most drag banshees only run through 5th. not many bikes (even big bikes) pull 6th w/ alot of paddles in the sand. usually you only run 2-5. i dont know what all mods he has. i'd agree w/ you that a 13 is the best place to start.
  2. no way man, go w/ the 10 paddles. here's whats done to my shee. t5's, clamp on k&n's, timing advanced +4, and a 13 tooth up front, stock 41 on back. i run 21x12x8 10 paddle haulers. on a piped banshee. i come out of the hole in 2nd w/o any bog and it comes out hard. i can pull 5th easily. you'd be suprised how much paddle you really can pull. this is on the flats though. but still, its a piped banshee, no motor work, no other mods, stock carbs, still got the tors, all that shit.
  3. the problem w/ streetbike motors is that they weigh so much. for hillclimbing they are good but for flat 300' might as well stick w/ a banshee.
  4. here ya go............... http://www.planetsand.com/ubbthreads/showf...=5&o=&fpart=all
  5. exactly. depends on if your motor can pull higher gearing or not. and how much you weigh and how much paddle your trying to pull. trial and error. good thing front sprockets are cheap!
  6. start in second gear. the less you gotta shift the better. since its dirt and wont hook that good put you ass back on the seat almost on the grab bar as long as it dont come up on ya. slap those gears as fast as you can w/o bogging it. turn around and wave to them.
  7. i'd say its well worth it. my builder does them for i think $375. compared to other mods and motorwork that isnt too expensive especially for the benefit it gives you. my builder put it to me this way. each time you shift its a split second you arent gettin power. in a 4 second race a split second is a long time. and you got 3 shifts in a race.
  8. i dont even want a banshee anymore. if you rode in one of those everything else would suck from then on. the fastest drag shees wouldnt even be fun.
  9. lian, just get the pipes and silencers at the same time. less hassle. deuce, go w/ t5's.
  10. they add alot of torque.
  11. dude, can't you afford bud light ???
  12. if u can ride, you'll beat him.
  13. how bout this........
  14. LMFAO!!!!! that's the funniest thing i've seen all day!!!
  15. its the one w/ the old sandtoyz plastics isnt it? my builder looked at it during sandfest and was gonna have his dad buy it but i dont think he had the money on him at the time. said it was nice though.
  16. if the only mods you have is what you got listed then you are way too rich.
  17. ill vote once you throw rock in there too. and i'd also have to say that Led Zeppelin is the greatest rock band ever. Jimmy Page is the reason why i started playing guitar.
  18. 2 stroke because, Have you ridden both of them????
  19. ok, first get pipes and air filters. for your riding conditions either t5's or cpi's. if your gonna stay stock go w/ t5's. if your gonna get porting, go w/ the cpi's, you'll thank me later. for filters get some k&n's. get the clamp on's so you dont f*ck up like i did and get the big one and then get clamp on's later and now gonna need another set once i get bigger carbs. you dont need a new head unless your going to do some internal work. get some reeds or port your stock cages. advance the timing. lighten the flywheel, rejet and gear. you will be happy until you get beat by a ported bike. p.s. dont get t6's, they suck. guy on planetsand just did a dyno of a bunch of pipes and t6's were worse than t5's. in my honest opinion t5's for unported motor and cpi's for modded motor.
  20. dont get them. they suck ass. where completely ruined in no time flat. get some oury's or renthals. that's my tip to all of you.
  21. i dont like toomeys. they slip off the line. i guess if you dont drag that might not matter but when your lined up and rev it in 2nd they creep forward. BAD. my builder is starting to use barnett clutches w/ toomey springs. says its the best combination. my brother got a toomey then burnt it then got a barnett and burnt it and since his toomey lasted longer he got another one of them just for that reason. but he is hard on shizzel. i mean real hard. i think he is single handedly supporting our engine builder's family.
  22. i run haulers but all i do is drag race. i've ran alot of other tires and for your conditions i'd run some sand sharks. they hook better than geckos and you can beat the living f*ck out of them and they will keep asking for more.
  23. you'll love the shee. i was on this site before i owned a shee and new nothing about them engine wise. now i got one and its modded and i know everything about them. helps that i hang around an engine builder all the time but ya, plugs, oil, that type of stuff. i think the only reason why people think that banshees arent reliable is that because they always see drag shees broke down. i dont think there is such a thing as a stock shee. and once you get hooked, you get hooked hard. and if you go full drag, stuff's gonna break. you either be fast, or reliable, not both. but you dont see bolt on shees broke down anymore than the 4 strokes.
  24. in most cases, haulers are the best tire you can get for sand dragging. however, setup is EVERYTHING!!!!! if you get the round haulers, they are the best. but if you get the flat kind, they arent that good. we had a set of the flat ones and a set of geckos and sand sharks. w/ the flat haulers you'd come barreling out of the hole like 4 bikes ahead of the others. but since they are flat, there isnt much top end and alot more paddle is getting to the ground which puts a bigger load on the motor in the higher gears. the sand sharks and even the geckos would catch up in the end because of the rounder shape and less paddle getting to the ground. geckos suck ass. i'd say for a piped banshee, sand sharks are a damn good tire and i am very impressed w/ them. but if you got porting go for 21x12x8 10 paddle haulers.
