  1. Ok did a plug chop today with 340 mains, they are the right color but less than 2 mm width. Tried to get rid of that sputter right before half throttle by putting the clip on the needle all the way rich at the bottom of the needle and no change. Got in a 27.5 pilot screws at 1.5. Don't know whether to go richer or leaner. Also got some uni pods hooked to the carbs if that does anything. In case you forgot I got fmf gold series fatties, +4 timing, And the above mentioned stuff. Thanks.
  2. Alright ran it again today and the mains look leaner than the last run with 300 mains and I was using 330 mains this time. I was getting good color but not the 2mm height so I now suspect an airleak at the rubber boot from the 2 into 1 filter. because I have some debris in the left carb and it has a little sputter right before it gets on the needles. I check my plugs at idle with a new set and after 10 min were bone white. With the 27.5 pilot will need to fix the leak before I continue. I will try some uni pods because I ride a mix of sugar sand and dirt here in florida.
  3. Sounds good will try it out tomorrow. Will let you know.
  4. Carbs synched, 27.5 pilot, screws at 1.5 turns from seated needle 2nd slot leaner.
  5. Here is the latest, got up to a 300 main and the chop reveals a brown ring about 1mm thick, it has a sputtering from right about 1/8 to 1/4 throttle or right before it gets on the needles. Tried a 330 jet and I had the 2mm ring but lighter than at 300. What would be next to remove that sputter, or is it how they run due to the advance?
  6. Alright need a ballpark number for jetting. 2006 stock bore no port FMF fatty and silencer, toomey 2 to 1 uni filter, +4 timing 32:1 yamalube and 93 octane. high humidity, 85 to 95 degrees most of the time, sea level, Currently have 260 main 27.5 pilot standard needle in 3rd slot, TORS removed. I have access to mains all the way to 340 and 30 pilots courtesy of a friend. What is a good starting point? Thanks.
  7. I broke down and bought some FMF powercores. Thanks alot.
  8. Looking for a set of FMF silencers in decent shape.
  9. Anybody got one with the foam UNI. My airbox has had it.
  10. 2006 banshee stock motor FMF Fatty pipes, Pro design K&N filter setup, 32:1 yamalube 93 octane Sea level 80 to 100 degrees year round, 300 main 27.5 pilot airscrews 1.5 turns out, needle 1 notch richer, mostly trail rides with occasional WOT. Let me know if you think it looks good was planning on a 4 degree advance and some better reeds. Will the advance affect jetting some?
  11. Thanks any other replies appreciated.
  12. Just got some FMF fatty pipes and was wondering if they could be run with the stock silencer? Are they repackable? and how much a difference would the powercore silencer make. I am running an otherwise stock machine only mod is the K&N prodesign set up with no lid. 2006 quad.
  13. I am looking for some used pipes and silencers if anyone has some laying around. Not too worried about the condition let me know what you got. Ernie.
  14. Yeah, saw where it came from as soon as the head came off. Got it all cleaned up and honed just waiting on the parts. Thanks for all your help.
  15. Ok thanks alot fellas.
  16. I was wondering what is the black debris in my coolant? I have all stock banshee 2006 and am using engine ice. Went to drain system because my top end is getting redone due to low compression. Any help is appreciated.
  17. Yeah I was both carbs open all the way.I gave the tester a little snug with a wrench to make sure it was tight. I beleive that I may have a bad head gasket now because when I cranked it up again and rode for a while it had a coolant leak and my hoses are bulging near the clamps looks like the cooling system is getting pressure from somewhere. I'm confused.
  18. Would a plugged carboned up stock exhaust system affect your compression readings because the numbers I'm getting it shouldn't even be running 55lbs per cylinder. But it runs well with a slight hesitation until the rpm's come up. My other banshee runs awesome with 120 per cylinder on the same gauge. Did a search here and did the test just as described. I don.t know Maybe head gasket, rings, or funky gauge. What do you all think?
  19. Thanks for all the advice will try all of them and get back to you guys.
  20. Yeah it starts alright, My gauge might be off as well haven't used it much but all the symptoms point this way just wanted a second opinion on this the rings was more of a preventive thing but will measure to make sure. Thanks
  21. Just wanted to get your opinions on this one. 2006 Banshee all stock not hitting like it use to. It is not a responsive on the throttle. I got pressure build up in my coolant as it leaks when at idle. And the hoses have a slight bulge at the clamps. compression is 90 psi right cylinder and 60 psi on the left. I am suspecting a head gasket leak but would appreciate any tips or info. If I replace the gaskets I will go ahead and do the rings too. Thanks.
  22. Thanks again you guys are great will keep you posted on the progress.
  23. Thanks for all the great advice. Will try it and get back to you. Also I have some Castor 927 from a friend that sold his dirtbike will it be ok for my quad? Will it be over doing it a bit for a stocker?
  24. I was wondering how much jetting will be affected with a pro design K&N kit on a total stock machine no mods what so ever. Stock filter was damaged. I cannot close the lid with this new set up so I will run it with the lid off. 32 to 1 with 91 octane. I was under the impression that if the pipes and cylinder cannot move more air then the filter would not make a diffrence unless the velocity moving through the venturi makes hard for fuel to keep up. Also since I did this modification it is kind of flat just past idle adjusted air screw in a bit and gets better and is not as snappy as with stock filter. I would appreciate a starting point if possible and I can work from there. I ride in florida so sea level and HIGH humidity. Thank you. ELW
  25. Yeah that is what I was thinking too. Just wanted to run it by you guys because it has been awhile since I messed with this. The wife said it was smoking pretty bad when I blew past her wide open plugs where a little darker than I like.
