  1. there are still snowmobiles being sold with 2 strokes as well
  2. We did sync them (without the tool) before we even tried starting the bike because they were off by a mile when I bought them. I will have to check the cable tension, I never thought of that. The choke is working...it settles the idle down when you pull it out. I just went out to the garage to get some stuff and noticed a large puddle under the overflow tubes, that was happening with the old carbs as well but nowhere near as much as I have now.
  3. I did a leakdown test before it was put back together and it had a slight leak at the brand new gaskets I put on, I have since sprayed them down with permatex gasket sealant and it passed the test. when we took the carbs apart we did it one side at a time to make sure crossing of parts would not happen....I will double check though because I am not the original owner. I know the choke tube is in place because I just put all new hoses on the carbs and that was one of them. what all started this teardown was the bike would not start and if it did start it would bog right out after 5 or so seconds, after removing the TORS the bike starts first kick.....it just idles extremely high.
  4. So at the end of last season my bike would not idle at all, over the winter we tore down the bike and replaced all the top end gaskets and I got a set of carbs with the TORS removed and now the bike idles....just extremely high. it does not matter if I bottom out the idle screw or back it all they way out, it screams until you pull the choke lever out. not sure what to do from here. modifications = fmf fatty's w/ turbine core silencers, +4 degree key, Vitos Tors removal w/ twist throttle, K&N pod filters (airbox removed). When I bought the carbs we put brand new 27.5 pilots and 280 mains in them. elevation = 784 ft.
  5. I kinda wondered how it would look with black pipes and polished silencers....and seeing yours it actually looks good. although my pipes are flat black and yours have more of a gloss finish.
  6. are you guys suggesting that I get rid of the gaskets and use an rtv or liquid gasket or apply these products to the existing gaskets?
  7. I performed a leak down test last night and while I did not hear any leaks anywhere, I did spray soapy water over the engine and I was getting a slight foamy uprise from the gaskets at the reed cages. these gaskets are brand new and I cleaned the mating surfaces really well before bolting everything back on, is it normal to get a small amount of air through these gaskets? I had no other leaks than the leaks described above.
  8. very nice. thanks!
  9. I am anxious to see this bike with the black full bores.....this color scheme is almost exactly what I have planned for my build next winter.
  10. Does anyone have black full bore plastics? I have been searching hi and low through these forums and have not been able to find any pics of them. I have come across every other color known to man except Black....Id love to see how they look, I am between black and silver and cant make up my mind.
  11. Just wondering if you guys think I should try to polish these silencers or sand em down and paint them flat black. pipes are flat black now and I have never polished anything before and do not know the first thing about it but it's never to late to learn in my opinion.
  12. I have dealt with Ray a couple times recently and I have to say he is a stand up guy and I would suggest him to anyone looking for used parts at a good price. I also have Rays number in my phone and I have found that if you email him he practically replies instantly.....like I said great guy to deal with. I will certainly be buying more things from him in the future.
  13. thanks for the offers....I think I am just going to get rid of it.
  14. I am switching to pod filters and I want a coolant overflow bottle relocation bracket as opposed to cutting the stock air box, I found one on Vitos website but it says they are out of stock, anyone know where I can find one?
  15. oh.....excellent......thank you.
  16. Does anyone know the torque pattern for the head bolts? I need to change my head gasket and my Clymer manual still has not arrived. also is the torque spec 20 ft lbs?
  17. I will throw in another vote for maxxis
  18. I should probably mention that I am buying these used, I am getting 2 stock carbs with vitos tors eliminator and the twist grip throttle all assembled already. If I go with the 20 cc domes in the cool head will I need to run race gas? I have been told with 19cc you do....but how about 20cc? also I strictly trail ride so I do not need to be concerned about water skipping or the race track.
  19. thank you for the advice....do you have any more information on the timing plate....I have no idea what or where that is.
  20. I am considering several upgrades at the moment and I would like to get some opinions on what I am considering. I am currently running on an all stock machine. I have a set of fmf golds going on this weekend. the other upgrades I am thinking of are: 1. Twist grip throttle with Vitos caps to eliminate the TORS system. Is there any downfall to running a twist grip over thumb throttle? 2. cool head with 22 cc domes. 3. air box eliminator kit? I am thinking of switching to the 2 into 1 kit with outerwear. the only real reason I am thinking of doing that is to make working on the bike easier. 4. vforce 3 reed system? I have always used Boysen reeds but I am interested in giving Vforce a try. 5. boost bottle.....do they really do anything? your thoughts on these upgrades are greatly appreciated.
