Ya thats prolly the easiest place to start.

Ok i was out doing some trail riding this weekend and for most of the weekend it ran great, but all of a sudden it had no power band.I just figured it was a fouled plug so i changed the plugs twice and no change. It revs clean in neutral and starts first kick, the new top end is 5 hours old and compression is still the same as the last time i checked it perfect. The clutch does`nt seem to be slipping at all, every thing is normal except no power band.It can`t be jetting cause it ran perfect almost all weekend and the weather did`nt change at all.Tors was removed so that can`t be it either.I did refuel with new fuel that may have been mixed a little richer than i mixed the first batch, and i was riding in a little mud,but my airfilter is clean and i`ve never had a problem with running my fuel a litte rich .The plugs where a little black but not wet but they where all weekend.Im stumped, what do you guys think?

I was in mclean creek this weekend and sounds like i ran into the same weather as you.Where you riding through alot of water.I find when i ride through alot of water it seems to cool the motor down so much thats its like riding it cold but after a few minutes of not riding through water it clears right up.I would`nt worry its just the nature of the beast.

Low compression on newly rebuilt top end
warbags replied to Olds Eddie's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
well i could be wrong but if its never been started then the rings have not had a chance to seat so thats why the low compression. -
Ya thats a pretty good deal,I`ve tried to find some in alberta and i can`t even find one for sale, well i found one but he wanted 12,000,i wonder if that included the crack pipe.Mine is a 2001 and i paid 4800 2 years ago,but it was pretty much never ridden and had pretty much the same mods as the one your talking about.Just make sure you do a compression test cause i bet it needs a new topend and possibly a new crank.
-
well that does`nt sound right, did you check the same place that you got the sundre elevation from?
-
Well i would hate to see you burn up a brand new top end,so what i suggest is call what ever stealership you bought it from and find out what jets are in it now and see what they say as far as rejetting goes.Let me know and i`ll double check with my builder and see what he says cause you never know they might say its ok,but then again if you blow it up then they asume you`ll get them to rebuilt it.

I ride Mclean most of the time, and im not sure but i would think its higher than sundre.Never been to Sundre so i could be wrong.Let me know next time you guys go i`ll meet up with you guys.

I just got a set of elkas cheapest duel rate shocks and even they are twice as good as stock,so i bet the ones you got fuckin rock.
-
Well where are you going?I never rejet for around calgary.
-
Well i just got back from my builders shop, and man i feel like such an idiot,i just put a dg skid plate on and i did`nt lock tite the mounting scerws so there where a couple mounting brackets loose so thats what the rattleing noise was.He checked the compression and it was 135/135.but he could`nt explain why it locked up and died.thanks for all the help guys

Oh ya thats canadian dollars ,but ya if he does`nt wanna fix it i think i`ll give it i try.

It had 290 mains and the builder put 280 mains in it,but i guess either way it was still to lean cause it was a little chilly the day it blew.My next question is would it still start and idle fine if it leaned out or sucked the reeds in.It starts and idles fine but when you give it a little gas you can hear a rattleing sound that should not be there,im starting to think it might be the crank. The builder wants me to bring it back so i guess i`ll wait and see what he says, but i asked him twice if the crank was ok before i picked it up and he said it was fine.I don`t know im just pissed you would think a $1000 for a op end would at least get you more than 30 min of riding especialy after i took every precausion to break it in right.

My main jets are 280 and the clip is on the second notch on the needle jet im at 1500 feet above sea level. My plugs where a nice brown not to dark not to light.I rebuilt the top end cause the psi was at 90.
-
My mods are fmf sst pipes k&n filter no lid on the air box,the motor is stock and this was its first time being bored so its 0.25 over stock. The plugs look the color they are suppose to be and clean no metal flakes.I guess i`ll just pull the pipes and see if i can see any thing but i don`t think it would be smart to tear it down ,i`ll let him do that and see what he says but im sure he`ll say its my fault.

I hear ya man i just bought one too and it fit like crap and i had to cut my bumper so it would fit.

Ok i just spent a grand getting a new top end on my shee,i broke it in like the clymer manual said too even know the guy that built it said just to take it easy on it for the first 10 min before i start rippin on it.After breaking it in i took it on a paved road and went threw the gears at about 3/4 throttel and when i hit 6th it locked up.It started right back upbut now when you give it 2/4 throttel i can hear a rattleing noise,so i towed it back and did a compession test one jug is 95 psi and the other is 100 psi and the side that is 100psi the gauge starts going down.I got the guy that built it to jet it for this area to avoid a running lean, but i think thats what happened, what do you guys think? Is it my fault or the builder?Any advice on what i should do next would be nice, thanks guys.

Well im Canadian so im not an expert on what rules the dmv has in the U.S,but i am assuming that you might have a skyline or two in the states and i think that they did not meet road worthiness standards in the U.S. but i could be wrong.I know that the pontiac G.T.O. did not meet road worthiness standard in Canada but i know there are a few here cause i got smoked by one last summer. So i guess i just figured it would be the same for an atv, and you gotta think banshees have been legal in the us for ever so why should it matter what year it is.The only problem i can see is that in Canada is when you buy a banshee all you get is a bill of sale and i know in the states you need a title, whice i have no idea what that is,is it any different than a bill of sale?

Never tried Sundre, how far of a drive is it? -
You can bring a car not available in the states and register it,so why would an atv be any different?

Anyway to take the powdercoat off my frame?
warbags replied to 8buck's topic in General Banshee Discussion
If your going to chrome the frame take it to a media blaster, sand blasting pitts the metal so the chromer will end up having to grind or sand the frame smooth again. We use aircraft stripper at our shop all the time but its a pain to get the pc out of tight corners or of welds,so if you have the time and wanna save some money thats what i would use. -
