  1. Could be a bad CDI.... also check the pickup gap between the stator and the flywheel.. should be about a matchbook cover size gap there. Zach
  2. The Drag strip is not under water ... but its rough well it was a week and som wind can change things fast up there. But seems to me the fastest 450 I faced woas a Suzuki beleive it or not
  3. We Did it out on the dunes actually just passed the 2 way traffic down there where the first little water pools are.... it was bumpy as all hell
  4. Well I spent the day up at silver today... wont be able to go over the holiday weekend seems HOPE College is the only college in the country that has school Monday. Anyway, it wasnt a bad turnout for a monday. Did a little racing after finally getting my stuff all working good, all and all i beat a 450 of every make so i was feeling pretty good about myself and my 1980s technology, well the end of the day was coming around and i met these guys that were all the way up from Boston. We got to talking and riding a little bit, and they asked me to race their buddy. He had a 450R ported head cam pipe etc... they had been looking for people to drag all day so I said what the hell lets do it. So I do a few warm up passes race one of his buddys on a shee with t5's dont know what else but i beat him good so i was like ok lets do this. I didnt really know what to expect because I had not raced a worked up 450 ... anyway the flag dropped and i had him right out of the hole he hung with me till 3rd and I started to pull away by the end of the race i was a good 8 bike lengths ahead. They were shocked as hell and im not gonna lie so was I but it fealt great. At days end the good ol shee never lost to a 4 poke. Just fealt like sharing.. Whish I could be there this weekend -Zach :happy:
  5. Its fairly easy, get a clymers and it will help u through the whole process
  6. I wouldnt re use the plate but thats just me others might... and yes you can buy just the plates.... I do believe that Jeff uses oem plates in his clutches.... If u have a clymers it will tell you the specs on plate thickness ...Im sure others will chime in -Zach

  8. I had the same exact problem..... make sure your choke tube is in place and get rid of the tors. I got rid of the tors and it started in one kick and ran like a champ.... before it wouldnt run for shit and it would rev to the moon withought giving it gas
  9. First off I would like to say that R&B racing did my portwork and i had my cylinders back and in hand in 2 weeks just as i was quoted. The thing rips ...... just be patient im sure he has his hands full just like every builder this time of year
  10. Well guys thanks for the help im gonna check shifter adjustment and then if that doesnt fix it ill get ahold of Jeff and get a star and a shaft and see if that doesnt cure the problem..... I appreciate all the Help -Zach
  11. Nope no Lockup just the FAST clutch setup which seems to work really good
  12. U guys really think im running enough HP to warrant an override. ... I would think that this thing shouldnt shift like piss i cant be running that much hp

Alright guys .... good trip to silver ... so i get in my first drag race..... yzf450 and heres how it goes.... he beats me out of the hole of course.... then i hit second and am pulling ..... hit third and im even then pull ahead by about a bike.... then im like alright time for light speed and go to shift into fourth and the fucker will not shift up im pretty sure i almost broke the shifter off and it would not go. It did this multiple times between second and thrid and third and fourth and needless to say u cant drag with 3 gears.... so yea im gonna check my shifter adjustment. Needless to say he shifted and passed and i was pissed the only way i could get that thing to go was to reach down and pull it with my hand. but it seemed to shift alright in the lower RPM"s so i duno whats up

  15. Thanks for the replies guys. Dajogejr I do have 8 inch rims which is a plus. Headed up this morning. Hopefully there will be some ppl there Fridays are usually decent. Still have not had a chance to line up with a 450 yet !

  18. Hey Guys, I have been doin a little drag racing up at silver .... on the dunes not at the track but I was wondering what you thinkg would be the best sprocket combo. My mods are in my sig. Im running 8 paddle haulers and a 15 tooth front as or now and I launch in first. Last week I dusted another banshee and beat my cousins yz250 10 out of 10 times on the wet sand but he has no paddle... anyway back to gearing . Should i take the front sprocket down or leave it where its at and launch in 1st Thanks Zach :biggrin:
  19. Do not go buy a Jet Kit for 50+ dollars its a waste of money. Like said before go to a local shop and tell them u want a cople 280 mains and some 27.5 pilots. Im guessing it will run u less than 15 bucks instead of spending the extra money. Save the money and buy more stuff to GO FASTER... and u will love the fatties good pipe great price Zach :biggrin:
  20. I would get rid of the TORS even if its not causing the problem. My bike wouldnt run at an idle till i got rid of em. But like they said it could be a cooling issue

  23. Alright guys i was taking my clutch apart because Jeff at FAST is sending me a new racing clutch but when i went to pull the outer pressure plate i got the ball and rod with it. The wole thing came out as one piece where do i go from here can i just grind the ball off and get a new one or what any help would be great thanks in advance. -Zach :mad:
  24. When I did mine i used 2 of the nuts and tightened them up against each other then you can put your end wrench on the lower or upper nut and turn the whole bolt because the other nut wont allow anything to turn but the bolt -Zach
  25. It depends on what size domes you have in your cool head a stock head runs around 130 psi but like i said tell us what size your domes are to get a better idea of what type of compression numbers you should have
