i was looking at 85 atc250r to buy alittle while back. i took it for a test ride and holy shit those things are way to fast for 3 wheels. ill stick to my 350x when it comes to trikes. those things are the reason they dont make trikes anymore.

did you use to riding in Florence, NJ by the turnpike??

im using this bike for ripping around the coal mine here in PA. i figure the coal here is very lose like sand and in some spots is pretty much sand, so, im trying to build a pretty bad ass motor to rip up and down the hill climbs here. i think this motor will work pretty well. plus i wanna see if i can make this thing kick my CRF450s ass in a drag race. this bike will probably never see a paddle tire besides a realtor.

either me or one of my friends rides it everyday. i can promise you that. on saturdays and sundays it gets ridden alot more. it gets 12 hours or more a weekend. Me and a couple a friends were talking about this lastnight which is kinda weird. if i dont ride it when i come home from work, my buddy Walt does. he ajusted the valves once on it since ive had it. i was saying its gotta have between 1600 and 2000 hours, but all my buddies called bullshit on that. when its sitting on Walts Farm he rides when ever hes bored and it gets ridden from 3:30 til dark. the guys at the local dealer called it a freak. i just think it because i take good care of it and no one is riding it around banging it on the rev limiter. Ricky Carmichael rides alot more than 2 hours a day. hes the best in the world! a bunch my buddies ride more than that everyday and only 1 was able to go Pro. he cant even compare to Ricky.

yz250f's are like 32-35hp. i have a 04 crf450 thats never had a top done. ive ajusted the valves once, thats it. if i had to guess it probably has somewhere between 2500-3000hours on it. yeah thats no bullshit. ive never been able to do that with any of my 2 stroke. its all on how you ride it if you ask me.

i was gonna use pwk 35s.
-
the machine shop i use said their really shouldnt be a problem. their L.A. sleeves and their really thick if that helps at all.
-
not sure on suspension and stuff yet. just wanna do the motor first. So the big bore pistons dont last as long?? i already had the 68mm sleeves laying around. i just thought id use them. i dont feel like rebuilding it all the time though. how much power am i missing out on by not running race gas. i dont really feel like paying for it mostly. if i could mix it 50/50 that wouldnt bother me.
-
race gas is kind of a pain in the ass to get. my brother camaro runs on it though, so maybe ill talk him into getting a 55gal drum of it. we'll see. i just wanna know if this combo will work good. what things i dont need and what things i should add. i dont feel like dumping all this money into this thing and having it run like shit. i want a proven combo.

i already have they jugs with the sleeves. the jugs have already been machined. i just have to get the sleeve pressed in. i was told to get the pistons first before he can press the sleeves. they were given to me by a friend. i know how the modding thing goes with chasing your tail. i've built a few cars now.

So my banshee engine bit the dust a week ago and im now looking into rebuilding it. i was given a set of stock jugs when i got it that have 68mm big bore sleeves in them. they've never been ported or anything.heres the build i was thinking of doing so far. -Noss head (unsure of dome size still) -68mm jugs with a dune port -4mill crank with long rods -boss intake -rocket pipes(still in the air on these) -pwk 35s im still unsure of what reeds to run. i wanna be able to run this on pump gas also. does this sound like a good build so far?? also, i dont see 68mm piston listed on wiseco site. do they make them?? you guys wanna add anything to list go right ahead. thanks Bill

Honda is the leader in MX bikes, but Yamaha is right behind them. All of my friends either have honda's or yamaha's now, nothing else. We all ride 450s and i have to say i think the hondas still alittle ahead of the game. their always alittle faster and they dont wear you out as fast. theirs alot less arm pump.

1998 banshee vs 1980 camaro(79 body style)
sled replied to the doug1789's topic in General Banshee Discussion
if it has stock heads and everything on it, you should kill him. those things only had like a 180bhp which is about 100rwhp and they the weight like 3600lbs. its not even gonna be a race. -
that stuff is nuts!! i used it to take the clear coat off a street bike frame. it is hands down the strongest shit ive ever used. that WILL get it clean. just make sure your outside wearing a mask and some think rubber gloves!

i wouldnt worry about a port job unless your a pro. worked over 125s kinda suck now. i always rode 125s up until a few years ago. i was putting rings in my last one every 3 rides. leave it stock or buy a 4 stroke. you dont need anything more than a pipe. i switch from a worked up 125 to a stock CRF450r. im never going back and im probably not gonna buy another bike for a long time. mines a 04 with over a 1000 hours and ive never put a top end in it. these bikes are awsome!

dam, i dont have any registration stickers and ive never had anyone bother me. ive also never ridden in state parks though. what if you dont have a title for the bike???
-
what year bikes need to be register??
-
that sounds like what im looking for. does LRD only make one pipe for the shee???
-
i was just playing too.
-
hmm, i live almost 3000 miles away from there. your probably never gonna see me there! if you'd like to come here and race me threw the woods on your shee with your bad ass cub engine. id be more that happy too!
-
its got FMF gold series on it right now. ill look into those LRD pipes once i rebuild it. im gonna try a 22inch tire and see how that does first.
-
i ride a CRF450 most of the time, im far from a pussy bud. ive smoked every banshee ive ever raced on that thing. i dont think you understand. im getting beat by my 350x because this thing spins so bad. you've gotta ride the shit outta the clutch to get it moving. a friend took it for ride and said he was pretty sure its been ported out. he said it was nothing like his old one. i think im gonna take it apart and rebuilt it with the other jugs. i know what 2 strokes are like. i had 87 LT250R with a bunch of work and mild porting.
-
i have no idea whats done to it. its got pipes on it thats all i know. ive never had to take it apart. its got no low end at all and then it just takes the hell off. i was thinking about trying to run 22in rear tires and regear it. all im asking is, is this normal?? i have another set of jugs i was gonna send out for some low end port work, i was wonder if this would help.

is their anyway to tone down the hit of the banshee's powerband? i dont wanna lose any power. i just want it to come on smoother. i ride alot of woods and farm feilds. everytime i hit powerband out in the feilds my shee just wants to loop around. it starts spinning the tires real hard. its starting to piss me off now and im wishing i still had my LT250r. the guy who had it before me raced flat track with it, so im not sure if its got something to do with the way the engine is set up or what. its got hole shots on the rear right now and they do nothing. any help would be great thanks. Bill
