Billet clutch basket - 2 questions
charles_in_houston replied to charles_in_houston's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yes, I considerd talking to him about it but here is the deal. I gave $125 shipped to my door for the billet clutch basket, Clutch pack and stock clutch (Clutch boss, Clutch adjuster and pressure plate). For that price I don't mind pulling off the gear from my old basket. I was a little disapointed that it was not a Hinson basket though (maybe it is?). I was pretty impressed with the previous deal from the same guy on the Direct Drive cluctch cover. I gave $220 shipped and the auction didn't mention that there was a billet impeller installed. I can't be too angry. -

The white piece on the left is part of a packing peanut. There is a bunch of grey tape residue that makes the back look all chewed up. -

I'll check that backing plate for sure. Here is a photo of what I have. I'm also concerned with the gear on it. Looks like it may have some "strange" wear on it. I can only put one picture in here. How do I upload another? -
I purchased a Direct Drive lockout clutch cover off eBay a while back. Shortly after I got that, I started looking for a billet clutch basket. I ended up buying the basket from the same guy. The purchase of the billet clutch basket was supposed to be a Hinson brand. From what I

Works 16.25" shocks on stock A-Arms?
charles_in_houston replied to charles_in_houston's topic in Suspension
Won't reducing the preload allow me to install the shocks but under slight pressure of the cartridge? The springs are what's keeping me from being able to compress the shock and get it the extra 1" or so down to make it fit in the tower mount. It dosent lack much to make it fit. I could probably get a leaver of some kind and pry it in but I don't know what that would do to the a-arms being under load like that. Not to mention the added ride height of the front end. kaotik1, I got your PM. I do have photos of the shocks and I can take any additional ones. If you are interested in trading 16.25" shocks for stock height, send me the photos of your shocks to [email protected] If anyone else is interested let me know. I can post the pictures here. -
Works 16.25" shocks on stock A-Arms?
charles_in_houston replied to charles_in_houston's topic in Suspension
Yes those are exactly the ones. How do you lower the preload? I'm assuming you needs some sort of spring compressor to get at it or it must be done at the Works factory. With the preload how it is now I can't get them to fit. When I remove the stock shock, the a-arms won't expand enough to allow the shock to go in. That's why I was originally asking about the lowering kit which moves the bottom of the shock out and down which looks like it might work. I just don't know about the extra angle of the shock that gets added and what that would do. Help me understand how I can reduce the preload myself and I will give that a shot for the temp fix. Will that make the ride too soft? Any additional info would be great. Thanks guys! -

The link works fine for me. Thanks for taking the time to share these. That was extremely cool of you.

Well mine is smooth for sure but I have both the shift star mod and the shift pro kit. I find that when I get into the rough stuff and my left foot "floats" near the shifter, it tends to bump shift it. Smooth is an understatement for mine. It's too smooth. You really can't feel it at all. I've been contemplating removing one or the other. You can find neutral easy with the bike running but I've jumped off and been supprised when the bike went back into gear. I'm not sure I tapped it or if the wind from my dismount blew it into gear. ......get the idea?

Ok, I hate to ask but I don't know. ....which a-arms will the shocks fit on (which ones are long travel)? Give me some recomendations on which a-arms to buy. I've already got the shocks. -
Works 16.25" shocks on stock A-Arms?
charles_in_houston replied to charles_in_houston's topic in Suspension
The lowering kit says it will take the Banshee down 3" or so. I'm not looking for a permanent fix. I'll upgrade to a +2 +1 a-arm set in 3 to 4 months. I just want a quick fix. The YFZ450 a-arms don't sound like an inexpensive temporary fix. That sounds more permanent. If someone knows where I can get a cheep set then let me know and I -

Would these allow you to run 16.25 inch shocks on stock a-arms and be back to stock height? If so I'll do $50 shipped. Email [email protected] with info. Thanks -
It should have. I've been getting them today. [email protected] Please try again.

Thanks for the info. As always there are two sides to a coin but this time I think I'm convinced it's a good mod. ....then again, just to be on the safe side I've decided to keep my stocker and look at getting a lightened one to throw on. If it doesn -

I'm still interested in the skid plate if you can post some pictures. I'm asuming shipping wouldn't take near as long
