  1. thanks mate thats good to know ...
  2. hey guys im running a banshee top end with a rz bottom end and stator and cdi...it seems too work but wondering if its a bit of a miss match in timming etc..anyhow i was lookin at getting a banshee cdi...i already have a timming plate so i just need a cdi and i see some after market ones available ,with out variable timming curves etc.. just better spark and more rev range..or so they claim, anyone have any experience with these.. http://www.farmandsandtoys.com/partdetail.asp?partid=41 thanks
  3. cool guys thanks.yet again..
  4. hey guys i just got a adjustable timing plate..now i see that alot of pple adjust about 4deg on a stock engine..i have a 4mm stroke crank..would the 4deg still be aplicable or go more as i heard that a 4mm crank retards the timing a bit to start off with thanks..?
  5. hey guys, firstly its not a sand dwelling quad..or even a quad...but it is a banshee /rz engined bike http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e47/twinrock/mito450.jpg i understand the concept of more air is more power but thats not the purpose of an air box...an air box is designed to provide cool, still, non turbulant air...which according to production and gp racers is the desired option to have....the thing is that there is a 15plus hpr difference with and with out pods..they are uni filters, and yes they were both jetted by a pro dyno tuner to get the best result..im not saying u guys are wrong im just after advice and help..as im having to completely different answers from here and gp racer forum...by the way ..gp racers here are not restricted by the rules to run an air box..they can do what they want in gp..production racing is different tho...
  6. yes maybe now that i think about it..not sure...any how..i will make up an air box for my set up..ill make a couple of different lids..take it to the dyno and see whats up..as im no prepared to suffer such a big loss in power due to my current set up...
  7. i thin k its funny that all the top banshee drags run filters/pods..but all the gp racers run air boxes..!!!! all know is my bike makes a huge difference with the no pods on at all the pods kill the power..
  8. ok this is an age old question but which makes better over all power? an air box or individual filters..it seems what ive read here on hq forum the prefered choice for more power is 2 pods..but on the rz/rd forum (rz350 road bike..)they say air box makes better power..!!! all i know is that on my bike when it was dynoed there was a huge drop in power when i put individual uni filters on..as apposed to nothing on at all..my bike is totally custom and has no stock air box so to speak so i couldnt use one..but im thinkin of makin one up, id love to know other experiences..thanks
  9. hey guys my set up is basically a 4mm stroke crank and vito sleaved barrels and porting..im told that with the stroker cranks i should advance the timming for full benifit from it..any sugestions would be great thanks..ps theree is a spacer plate so port timing are matched already thanks..
  10. im lookin at getting a programmable cdi any one using any..what brands are there im lookin at zeeltronic at the moment thanks
  11. hey guys whats the life expectancy of the plating in the cheetah and cubs set up...its about $1000 a barrel to have re-plated here if anything was to go wrong..thanks
  12. hey guys i have rz transmissions for sale..they are taller ratios and to get use out of big power..or good to have spares boolt straight in very cheap $30au plus shipping i have spare cases too
  13. yeah i heard that the transfer ports can suffer due to the bigger sleave and cancel itself out..i guess im seeing the proof in the pudding..
  14. the chasis is a cagiva mito gp italian replica ..originally it had a 125cc single cylinder 2 stroke ,its hard to fault it..brembo brakes sash and marzzochi suspension i have polished and chromed various parts ..i also replaced the rear sub frame with a custom alloy frame and custom seat ,,also i like the naked look but originally it had a full faring
  15. yeah we are pretty lucky here in australia..we got every road going 2 stroke ever made, they r getting hard to find now ..but still by no means rare ive been ridding for about 12 yrs and only 2 strokes they are just alot more fun.. my mechanic compare my dyno with a rz350 ported with chambers he just did which made 70hpr but the power was very lineal..almost 4 stroke like ..thats what i didnt want..i dont like power valve u miss out on too much of that powerband kick mine hit 6 tho and shot straight up.. i have a friend he hsa a banshee stock jugs some pipes and reeds and he is makin 57hpr..so i was a lil disapointed..we will see tomorrow with the timming..
  16. thanks mate..yeah ill have some footage soon..i was waiting to the engine was dialed in b4...also the bike weighs in at about 115kgs wet thats 250 pounds
  17. hey guys i just returned to my dyno tuner about my bike not quad..lol http://s36.photobucket.com/albums/e47/twin...ent=mito006.jpg my set up is 4mm stroker crank big bore vito sleaved cylinders ported at 70mm performance pipes hand build by a gp pipe builder 28mm flat slide powerjet carbs uni filters only pulled 60hpr and 29 pounds of torque i was expecting 70-80hpr mark . the funny think is that i was originally running an rz350 engine..and replaced it with this set up..the rz made the same power basically stock..the tuner also agrees it should make more power..ingition timming is stock and he is in the middle of advancing it 3-4 degrees im told that this will have a dramatic effect on over all hpr and help would be much appreciated thanks..
  18. hey guys anyone wanting rz tranys i have some i can suply the full set up for $80 au im in australia postage would be around $50au will will still work out quite a cheep deal..5-10 days shipping..thanks
  19. may i ask whats the benifits of rz tranny?
  20. my bike has just gone to the dyno tuners..my set up is a 4mm stroke crank with a a vito sleaved barrels at 70mm extensively ported reeds and reed spacers 28mm powerjet flatslide carbs and some custom handbuildt pipes designed to tailored to the engine layout, the first run on the dyno gave a dismall 45hpr...the bike is running extreemly rich ..but i was hoping for close to the 80hpr mark,,45 is along way from 80..thanks also what kinda torque figure should it make which is the main thing ive been wanting to increase thanks..
  21. cool thats what i wanted to hear..
  22. hey guys..ive got a 4mm stroke with vito sleaved barrels at 70mm, can u see any problem with running a set of flat slide 28 mm power jet carbs off my tz250, obviously ill have to jet to suit..but will this starve the engine too much of performance..i know it will lack top end of bigger carbs, they are all i have to run on the engine at the moment ..i ran outa money for another bigger set of carbs..thanks..
  23. i found the problem...it had the wrong thrust washer btween the clutch basket and the hub..the inside diameter was too big with made it slip down just enuf to bind when the big nut was tighted up..all fixed now..
  24. what i should say is that the clutch seems to be functioning fine there is plenty of tention and pressure when u pull it the plates come apart..how ever this does not over ride the gear..ie if u put the bike in first gear and pull in the clutch when engine is not going u cant roll the bike forward..its as if the clutch has not been pulled at all..!!
  25. yes the ball is in ..the clutch seems all together properly..ive rebuilt prob 5 engines and never had this prob..im wondering if there is anything in the gear box that can cause this,,
