Has about 45-60 hours on .020 first top end rebuild. But it overheated 3 times caused by way to lean main jets. Im at 1400 elevation. And my compression is about 110 in both cylinders. banshee has starting problems. Usually will only start from pull start or push start then its runs excellent. Mods are in sig. Im tired of push starting this thing every time I want to ride it.

banshee only hitting on one cylinder

When you switched the plug wires what happend. Did the cylinder that wasnt running switch sides or stay on the same side? -
I checked the gap with a feeler guage and its in spec.
-
about 110 in both and my elevation is about 1400 above sea level. Even with this same compression it used to start first kick everytime.
-
Ya I checked that. The gap is good. It runs so good but just wont kick start.

I have a 97 banshee brand new rs stator and stock ignition coil. If I let it sit for a few days then go to star it. It starts right up first or second kick. Then if I shut it right down or warm it up it wont start again unless I push or pull start it. I thought maybe a clogged pilot but I cleaned the carbs real good and pilots are clear. Anyone have any idea at all? Anything would help.

You can test the stator with a ohm meter or a multitester with it on the bike. Have the bike off when testing it.

ya I forgot all about those there old. Ya Ill buy some new ones tomorrow. I took off the wiring diagram and all the wires tested good with no shorts and im just putting it back on.

The pickup coil gap is good. And it will for hours until I shut it off and I have to push start it again. I took off the whole wiring diagram and checked all the wires multiple times with an ohm meter and they all tested good with no shorts or anything and the coil and stator are good. And when I checked I put the plugs on the head and tried holding them in my hand to see if it would shock me but got nothing.

My banshee runs like a raped ape but wont kickstart. I either have to towstart or pushstart it. It also shows no spark when I pull out the plugs and check for spark. I have T5s no lid Brand new ignition coil and RS stator +4 timing. and Tors eliminator. 27.5pilot 290 Main Jets 1400 feet above sea level. Topend has about 30 hours on it. Once we push start it it runs great and idles. But it shows no spark? I was thinkin maybe just a dirty pilot jet. This ones got me. What do you guys think?

what all did you do when you rebuilt your carbs?

My Shee is killing me more every day.

I had a real similar problem you did with fouling plugs. It would foul them back and forth and in 15 minutes somtimes less. My problem was a bad stator. Try testing it with a multitester or swap in a known working one. -
BANSHEE BREAKING FROM MID TO HIGH RANGE
bansheesmoke replied to dirtbike77's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
If one spark plug is a normal brown color and one is white. Could be the crossover tube gone or an airleak on one side. And if water came out of the flywheel cover my guess is that it was there some time and your stator could be rusted or bad. maybe test the stator with a ohmmeter? -

Banshee coil related problem...
bansheesmoke replied to AustinONeal's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Ive had a bad coil and a bad stator. When I had a bad stator It fouled alot of plugs getting warmed up. And it was really hard to start cold. With a bad coil It would only cut out in the lower gears just like your talking about. But seemed fine in the higher gears. Coil related problem................. -
Your trying to find your elevation?? Google search it.
-
When you use the choke it makes it run richer for a cold start. If it runs better with the choke then its starving for gas. Where are your air/fuel mixture screws set at? And yes take the carb completely apart and clean it all out with carb cleaner. Make sure the jets are all clean.
-
I think the most is like .60 but the more compression then the more stress on your crank pistons and rings. Do you have pipes? And when you get high enough on the compression then you will have to run high octane fuel. ID say go maybe .30 over.
-
mix it 36:1 and you wont have to worry about it.
-
Only on warm up? Probobly wrong jetting or maybe a bad stator. When I had a bad stator it would foul plugs only on warm up.

flooding really really really bad

The idle screw. You have tors eliminated right? -
Whats your question?
-
hahaha I had this happen to me once. It ran out of gas and leaned it out. Hit the kill switch and didnt do anything. I was freakin out. I tried lockin up the back brake and dumpin the clutch. But no luck so I shut the gas off and then a few seconds later it shut off. But it was reved all the way. Past WOT. You sure you didnt run out of gas or get a clogged line?
-
The idling and letting it cool down is the best way.....In my opinion. If its hard to start like that then it runs great it could just be the carb screws See where there at. Try about 1 and 1 quarter turns.

Maybe if I could understand what you were trying to say I could help you.
