  1. No one?? You gotta move out West, son.....
  2. I just realized I was looking at a March calender. Thought you were talking about a weekend, not a weekday trip!! I won't be out there until the 10th. Maybe next time!! jay.
  3. Anyone hitting it over Easter? Me too. And I'm planning on doin' a li'l draggin' and dunin' at Glamis too!! Let me know!! The more Banshee's, the better.... Jay in SanD.
  4. I might head out...still not locked in for that weekend, but I'm at about 80% for going. Prolly camp on Gecko. Where are you planning on camping?
  5. I set up a trip with my chick for this weekend for some sand and  sun...the other couple that was going had to cancel. Anyone else gonna head out??

  7. I agree with^^. Other factors to consider would be intended use, (such as sand use only, trails, hillclimber, drag) desired powerband and altitude. If you are kinda high up there, you might choose a smaller carb due to the thinner atmosphere. Pipes, porting, and carb size should be a package design parameter decision. So, what are you gonna use it for and what's your altitude? I run 33's on my 4mil at 200ASL in the sand at Glamis and wouldn't want anything bigger. And Welcome to the HQ!!
  8. The Yamaha website has exploded diagrams and part numbers...free to access. http://www.yamaha-motor.com/sport/parts/home.aspx
  9. It was good times hanging out with you guys. The drags were fun and it was cool to have someone else to kick ass on the 4-pokes with. Prolly felt good to be able to use top gear for a change, huh?!?! I'll have to try out some tree shot hill climbs soon. I ended up not leaving until Monday evening. Figured I'd stick for an additional day. You Oregon guys...$90.00 worth of beer gone in less than 18 hours.... Come out again sometime!! Jay From SanD.
  10. Hey Man, I'm not trying to start any crap with you, but I'm sure you know the type of enforcer he's talking about. I have PD friends too, and they agree that some of thesir co-workers are just plain asses. For instance, (and this supposition is based on the idea that the guy that got the ticket wasn't a dick to the officer...) since NO ONE runs sparkies at Glamis, why mess with the guy that's basically being responsible and slow? We see all kinds of modded machines at Glamis, some that deserve a safety check!! The asshat yoking wheelies over blind dunes in his V-8 700HP buggy deserves some Sheriff "personal attention" as do the drunk drivers. Plenty of 'em to fill the cash coffers...why hassle some out-of-towner?? That, my friend is what I call Authority Misdirected. Like a movie I saw once: Charging a man with murder in this war was like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500... Sorta the same for a sparkies ticket at the G. BTW: The statement of us paying his salary is actually correct. It comes from the ISDRA Pass we are ramrodded into purchasing. They are paid directly out of those funds.
  11. If/when I do my DC conversion, I'm gonna mount the battery under the seat, just behind the filters. Sport bike manufacturers have been working hard on relocating weight to the center of their bikes lately...called "Mass Centralization" concept. It's a proven disign that works...ever drive a mid/rear engine sports car through a slalom?? I was given this example: Imagine picking up a barbell with the plates on the ends and trying to quickly rock the bar side-to-side. Slow moving. Now slide the plates to the center and try your side-to-side movement again. Waaayyy faster transition. Using that logic, the closer to the motor you can go, the better!! Over the rear shock/swing arm pivot is optimum. Adding all that weight over the front end is NFG!! Just my $0.02.
  12. I wonder if the crank is straight or out of spec? Throw a dial indicator on it and check the runout....
  13. You should be able to pick up a temporary registration from your DMV. In Cali, you take your homemade trailers, buggy's, motorcycles...whatever to the CHP. They look it over and give you a frame number so you can register your doo-dad. So after you sober up, hit the DMV and then wherever your state inspects/passes out VIN'S. Hope that helps.
  14. The only good rear sand tire is a paddle tire. They will die a miserable, screaming death if used more than just crossing the street on pavement. I am the one dissident in that I prefer my Sand Skate II's v-paddles for duning over the straight paddle Haulers. I have a set of both, I use the V paddles more. Maybe a Hauler with a 10" rim would be acceptable, but my 21x12x8 8 paddle tires are really only good for drag racing. If I were to only have 1 tire, I would get SKII's for sure. You don't need a ribbed front tire in the sand, but once you use them, you won't use knobbies in the sand again. Take your time and find a set of fronts on eBay. I picked up a basically new front set on Douglas Blues for $65.
  15. I'd hang a set of balls off of 'em like the 4x4 guys do and put a TRX450 sticker on the scrotum...
  16. I think I can manage...it's gonna be 80+!! Looks like Sunday is the first day of more day than night!! Summer's coming....
  17. Gonna hit it again....anyone else planning on being out there? Think I'm parking at Gecko Loop. Look for the '80's Southwind RV with a 5x10 utility trailer. Shoot a PM if your heading out.... Jay from SanD.
  18. Sweet!! I like seeing dyno sheets that show my FMF's to be among the best non-drag inframes. The most torque, HP, and best linear powerband. I guess my seat of the pants dyno wasn't far off. All the power of T5's (actually more) without the artificially peaky powerband spike. Midrange you can use....
  19. You can't go wrong with a set of FMF Fatty's. Not exactly the peaky powerband of T5's but a great overall pipe. Besides, if you decide to upgrade later, you can prolly sell your used Fatty's for what you paid for 'em. Fit great, work great, not the coolest sounding exhaust note, but I like the powerband!!
  20. When I'm talking in person, I'll talk about my Banshee. When I'm asking something about yours online, I'll ask about your 'shee. I reserve the term "quad" to be any thing other than a Banshee. If it has an overhead cam, I call it a piece of shit quad....unless it's a YFZ. Then I forgo the piece of shit thing. A bike has 2 wheels. My dirt bike is a YZ250 and sport bike is a ZX10r. So a 'shee is actually a term of endearment or of differentiation. Not to be confused with a girlfriend, ex, or Fucking Money Hungry Bitch. :shoothead: Now if you're a guy and your 'shee has pink plastics, you exfoliate, drink Zima, your riding gear includes assless chaps, and your words with an "s" sound more like "ssssssssssssssss's, I'd say you have gay issuses'sssssssss and your 'ssssshee has an identity crisis.
  21. Here is a good rack: Now go get a 6-pack.
  22. Here is your info. Check the Keihin Website... http://www.keihin-us.com/am/_media/pdf/slide_valve.pdf Any chance the float is cracked or the needle/seat are AFU? Hope that helps... Jay in SanD.
  23. My bro and I are heading out to either Glamis or Buttercup this weekend. :woot: Still undecided. Anyone else planning on going out there too?? Give a shout...maybe we'll meet up!! Jay in SanD.

    chain ?

O ring and Triflow for lube.
  25. I'm sure the pass is different. You can mail order one here: http://www.imperialsanddunes.net/ I'm planning on running out there that week. Another guy from this site is going out there with some peeps too. I'm probably gonna park off Gecko Rd at the loop or at pad 2-2.5. I like this side the best but others swear the washes are the better. Gecko has better dunes close while the washes are an easier ride to the big hill (Old's). Plus, there are some bitchin drags until sunset across from pad 2... Map: http://www.blm.gov/pgdata/etc/medialib/blm...x11closures.pdf
