  1. Go to the Keihin website...they have a comprehensive tuning guide that will answer your Q's.
  2. I was at pad 3. Prolly gonna roll out there over Thanksgiving week too...met some guys there that are camping for a month who told me they'd save a spot for me. Heading out to Willow Springs Raceway to do a couple of track days (21-22 Nov) on the trusty ZX10r so I'm thinking of rolling out to Glamis on the 23rd or 24th to the 29th. Anyone else gonna be out there? Let's meet up and do some ridin'!! Jay from SanD.
  3. The pad near Glamis Store or the one on Gecko?
  4. Where are you gonna park? I'm heading out this weekend too...Friday night after 7:00PM. Prolly gonna park around Pad 2.5.
  5. Anyone heading out to Glamis over Halloween?? So now my bro, g/f, neighbor, and another friend are not gonna make it. So now if I go, I'm gonna solo it. I wouldn't mind a place to park my RV if you have space in your site. Gecko preferred....I like the sunset drags!! I can also fit another quad on my trailer if someone wants to head out with me from SanD. Dammit...2-L's in Halloween!!
  6. My vote is the ring caught on the port lip.
  7. Welcome to the HQ. Exhaust gives the most bang for the buck but you will have to rejet the carbs after you do that. Probably the best pipes for the money would be a set of FMF Fatty's. You can get a used set on this site or FeeBay for a real nice price. Filters depend on the type of riding you do. You would choose a different filter type if you were talking sand, dirt, or muddy trails. Boyesen Dual Stage reeds are a nice improvement. Maybe you can find a set of ported cylinders later on if you want more power. It never ends....have fun and again, Welcome!!
  8. http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242261 I warned you.....
  9. I'm definitely gonna be at Glamis over Halloween.... 4 weekends and a wake up!!
  10. Make that 7!!!
  11. GLAMIS!!!!!
  12. Can't erase the friggin Double Post!! Molasses is faster than these post times!!
  13. I just read a post on the BLM website that noted ISDRA passes will remain the same price as last year. $25/90 if purchased offsite and $40/120 onsite. I guess we hafta wait another year for the privilege of another rate hike....Un
  14. The riding season is OVER here in San Diego until next Halloween. I have nearly 20 gallons of pump premium/100LL AVGAS/premix sitting here in plastic fuel jugs. Will it last until Nov 1? Would adding a fuel stabilizer help? Now for the crappy part of the year...I gotta hang at the beach for a few months I 'spect.
  15. I'm a fan of the Sand Tire Unlimited Razorbacks. I have a set of the GBC'c on another quad and the STU's are definitely lighter. Website claims them to be 6lbs. IMO the best front sand tire out there. If you're looking for light, not a bad tire to consider.
  16. Yoshimura is better than say, Kerker, but nowhere in the same league as Akrapovic, Leo Vince.......
  17. Gonna pull a 3 day weekend at Glamis next weekend...5/22-25. Think I'll camp on Gecko near pad 2.5. Anyone else gonna brave the 100 degree mid day temps? The 75 degree night rides will be awesome!! As long as I have Barley Pops, I'm good.... Shout out if you wanna meet up!! Jay from SanD.
  18. The forward side of the tire should have 1/4" more toe in (angled towards each other) than the rear of the tire measured at the 3 and 9 o'clock position. You can measure to find the tire center and use a Magic Marker, or clamp a 2"x4" to your wheel(s) to give you a platform to measure against. If you measure to the inside from the wheels, decrease your measurement amount since you're measuring closer to the axle center line. Lonestar Link Info: Toe Adjustment For this all you will need is a tape measure. Make sure the handlebars are straight, then make sure both tires are pointing straight forward. To do this, measure from the inside of one tire to a point on the chassis. Make a note of the distance. Then on the other side, measure from the exact same points as you did on the previous side. These measurements need to be exactly the same so that you know your tires are pointed the same. Adjust the tie rods so that this measurement is the same. Now that you
  19. Think I'm gonna hit it this weekend...it's only gonna be 102!!
  20. I still wanna get out before Memorial....bet it's close to 100 degrees by now. Good thing the RV has A/C and cold beer storage!!

    Moto-GP

It sucked that Hayden got T-boned at the beginning last week. It's been tough for him since he won the title....
  22. They are installing a new Dynojet Dyno that'll do quads right now, as I'm writing this in my friends' shop... http://www.leescycle.com/. I guess there is a point of view as to which dyno is better. Mine is that 990% of the dyno's out there are from Dynojet so they have become the standard reference machine. Other manufacturers may claim a (arguably) greater accuracy for a single measurement like peak HP, but the transitional curve between the start and the end of the run will be very similar. Anyone can fudge the numbers...punch in a different ambient temp, change the altitude, whatever. I've personally seen a 9HP difference just from changing a worn chain/sprok set for new!! Not to mention, tire weight, composition, pressure, tread design ALL have a hand on the final result. Yea, I like to brag my ZX10r puts down 167.5HP at the rear wheels but it was the dyno that allowed me to tune and set my Power Commander to achieve my state of tune. HP readings ore only relative to the same dyno machine...period. You can only accurately compare quads. bikes, or cars that were tuned on the same dyno. I'll post my run in a couple of weeks!!
  23. Stock carbs with TORS are a drag to work on. Flatslides are easy to tune. As for carb size determination: Depends on some variables...intended use, current mods, elevation. Unless you are drag racing only, the best carb is the smallest one that will do the job for your riding type/motor build. Carb venturi's need velocity to atomize fuel well so if you have a stockish motor, the 28's would be a good choice. I run the 33PWK's and they fit my motor build perfectly.
  24. Anyone up for hitting the dunes over the next month? I'm free most of the time and wanna get out to the sand before it gets too hot. Let me know !! Thinking of hitting it this weekend and a couple more times through Memorial. Give a shout!! Jay from SanD.
