ok, so im checking evrything for this weekend to slap the motor together and i come across this screw and lock nut type deal off the gear selector shaft that's wiggling in there loose. how tight is this thing (circled in red) supposed to be? i found it somewhat just floating in there backed off about 1/4 turn.
-
yea, trails riding would me more aimed twards 4 stroke due to power, fuel milage, and ride.

Just got a banshee and im already gettin problems
alisn4x4 replied to stryker1001's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
even if you need a rebuild, the bike is still worth what you paid for it. just pull the top and rebuild it (wich sounds like it just scattered a piston or ring wich should be easy fix with a rebuild) good luck. -
this is assuming its a stock bike? i rode mine stock for a little while in the dunes and it ran just fine... little under-powered but should rip alright. i also have stock gearing. have you done anything to it?
-
disregard, just found a few companies from where to order these at.

theres a post on here with a good tip for this. look under search and type in "reed" youll find the answer you are looking for with pictures even. seems like the only performance gain you'll get is either by cutting away the center seperator from the top and bottom and replace them with another type of reed pettals or getting a v-force 3 set of reeds. id research it tho.

sounds like what happened to a buddys quad. it was the rear caliper piston sticking. it was due to sand and other crud stuck in the piston area... we seen where it normally returned but it then had a splight bit of residue that hardened and wouldnt let the piston return fully. over time i guess the stuff kicks up in there and with age just decreases the smoothness of it.
-
sux bud. whats his actual name? first and last so anyone on here is not taken for a scam again. since you hopefully have a ligitamate title and such you'll have no issues taking him to court for a fraudulent sale. good luck man.

what are the chances of a crank failing on
alisn4x4 replied to 98 shee mx's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
leave it as is. if you got a warranty and blow it up between the time it expires just take it back and dont worry about it. if it does it AFTER your warranty is up, then get it done. why spend money if you dont have to? -
whats the condition of that milled head? pitted any? etc. if you could send some shots of it to [email protected] thanks.
-
need a stock shee head. good condition, domes in good shape not dinged or pitted and so on... (if anyone in or near San Diego has one lemme know so i can just o pick this up as most of these things will cost more to ship them then theyre worth... LOL)

now sorry if i screw this up guys but dont regular motor oil have anti-friction type elements into it causing the clutch to slip?? this is what i heard from a few people and so thats why you try and run a regular straight gear oil in the tranny.... or whatever motorcycle stuff they have at the shops. am i wrong?
-
yea, guess ill pick some up and put em on. guess it cant hurt. curious tho, as to wether some environazi notices this and gets a wild hair up their ass and notices these "kits" being sold... then trys to rais a red flag on em and make alba stop selling them these bastages will do aaanything to shut us down out there. an intresting point about the buggies tho. only reason i can think of is that buggies with car motors, cars never come with arrestors... bikes on the other hand have mostly come with them from the factory and are required to pass that funky law guideline.
-
HAHA!! exactly!! me and my buddy had a talk about that and how its just another deal with BLM and all them environazis to try and get money out of desert people just trying to have fun.
-
hmm, i notion to just do what ive always done and come in at around 2am and when i go ride, not park on the flats or anywhere the rangers can pull up and bother me. ill probably eventually put em in but for now.... these a-hole rangers and environazis can kiss my non spark arrested ass. they have enough guidelines and fees and other BS that ive had enough with

hey guys, im ordering a top end kit this week and been reading on about wiseco pro-lites and such. my question being, will i notice a diffrence in performance if i go to the pro-lites or should i stay with the standard replacements? what do you guys think? a little info on the bike.... im goin with a 2-1 trinity intake with a 35mm pkw carb, some mild porting, fmf fatty's, +4* degree key, and a higher compression head set up. the bike is mainly gona be a dunes bike ( ride, hill, and drag bike)

pictures of the rear shock please. [email protected] do you know if its in need of rebuild?? what year bike is it off of? thanks.
-
thanks, thats what im looking into is someone's good stock crank w/rods and hope to find one i can drop in and go. im gonna order some wiseco pro-lite's and have the cylinders bored/honed and matched to them. im having the cases cleaned monday of any debri inside there. kind of disappointing to find that messed up.... was hoping to just be able to order parts monday and have the motor back together by the time the frame came back from PC.
-
so i finally split the cases and found the ailment to the motors problems. apperently it ate a rod bearing. so this is where im at.... ive got the whole bike torn down and the rod bearing being chewed up is seemingly gonna cost me some. so what are my options as to what i can do? should i send it out to have the crank redone? should i find and buy a good used one that someone has swapped out for a stroker or what can i do?? i dont have deep pockets to begin with (who does?) and im afraid this is gonna suck up alot of cash depending wich route i go so...... any opinions?? thanks.
-
a big thanks to BIGRED for this how to post and documentation. im in tear down process for the first time and this makes things a great deal easier to deal with. thanks!!
-
hey NYUK, thanks for the offer on the frame altho i just had reg done on this frame and its in perfect shape, by the time i would have spent the money on shipping your frame i would end up in the same boat. good to hear badley made out on this post tho.
