sooo...... no one knows of any other company that makes these conversion kits? or is there no other companies making these kits?
-
ok, so i did some searching but didnt quite find the answer to my question. i know atvracing1 makes a conversion for the shee but does anyone else make them? preferably someone who dont want an arm and a leg for their kits?? the atvracing1 looks pretty basic and easy to do tho they seem to be VERY proud of their product, so proud that they charge 180 bux for a welded 0.50 cent tube to a 0.05 cent tab. ive already torn my bike down to the frame and as prety much ready to be sent out to PC. Id like to get the conversion all welded in soon so i can hurry up and send it in so im looking to get a conversion kit shipped in to save the time of making it myself. anyone know of any other people making them out there???

Anyone every tried these tires? (Pic inside)
alisn4x4 replied to Sixty 9 Racing's topic in Sand Forum
have a buddy that bought two sets of those. one for his 700 raptor and for his yammy 450. from what i seen first and second hand they dont work as well as the look. too much tire spin surprisingly and the ride is horrible. they throw more sand then they hook up..... and if you ride behind anyone with em, i hope you have a portable shower handy. -
rebuild, porting and set up questions
alisn4x4 replied to alisn4x4's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
yea, i do want to research the porting options and styles. im not about to go head first into the porting frenzy. im still considering taking the cylinders out to someone with experience tho. i know i wont be disappointed in the results. chances are very high the bike will be alot better then it ever was so thats cool. i also researched a bunch of the bikes that people have on here, seeing what most people have and what they do (woods, dunes or drag riding) so i have an idea of what stuff works for the type of riding. ill let you guys know whats up and ask for your opinions as i go along. chances are alot of people have been where ive been and can chime in on the situation. -
rebuild, porting and set up questions
alisn4x4 replied to alisn4x4's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
you guys are awsome! this is giving me a better idea on what i should go with. the fatty pipes are already in the mail as well as the 2 into 1 carb. the carb i wanted for simplicity yet still big enough to deliver the fuel for the power. pipes, i have the set that came with the bike.... according to the original owner of the bike, they were the best pipes money could buy at the time they were bought. they are called coffman pipes. expansion chambers are a real smooth expansion and never seen anything like em, (ill shoot some shots of em tomorrow and see what you guys think) ill follow the advice on the timing plate and see who has a good deal on em. as for the head... how much would you guys suggest to mill off? ive read on other posts that around .20 to .30 thou is what i should go for? ill do the vforce reeds, porting i have a buddy's bike that had the dunes porting done and ill just take a good look at his and do it by hand. (trying to keep it as low buck as possible and my buddy has the shop and tools for anything i wanna do) ill stick to wiseco pistons as you guys said, tho who should i get em from?? are prolites a diffrent type of wiseco piston? i cant say ive heard of em. ill look into the barnett clutch set up. i dont think the bike needs it but since im there i may as well. thanks for your help guys, i really appreciate it. -
hey guys. so i just joined up the site not even a week ago since i got my new banshee project and ive already absorbed as much as my little hampster powered head will manage. ive seen posts on just about every mod and settings i would like to do to the bike but id like to get your guys' take on it and see what you guys think. ive sorted through some options yet some are to be decided and thats where i need the advice. top end kit- vito's forged piston kit head- noss head with 20cc domes ports- yet to be decided...open em up a bit, not too wild but still researching pictures of evryone else's jobs. carb set up- trinity 2-1 35mm PWK reeds- yet to be decided pipes- FMF fatty's timing- advance key +4* clutch- yet to be decided so what do you guys think so far??? this bike is mainly gonna be aimed twards racing my buddies at the hill and such. (sand dunes by the way) also, who's rebuild kit or top end kit would you guys recommend. Vito's or the Wiseco kits seem to be the reliable options to me but im not sure??

hey, intrested in the pipes and the carb setup. PM me if you still have either or both of these items. thanks!
-
throw me in there as well!!
-
thanks for the welcome. that sounds pretty good.. looking at all possible options to see wich way ill go on the rebuild. you have pm!
-
intrested if bansheemaniac backs out. have any pictures of it??
-
how old is the carb manifold setup??
-
oh, i forgot to ask... one of you guys said i should send my stuff out to -FAST-. any idea how much he would charge to do my top end?? how much would it be to chip and all that? i can do most of the work myself except for the machining. all i need is to be pointed in the general direction as to what kinda set up would be ideal or best for the bike and budget. sorry if ive already asked this but where could i get a good rebuild kit from? ive been looking through vito's performance and am still searching for other places to order from. i was looking through the classifieds as well and seen a hemi head for the bike too. seemed like a pretty good deal on it, tho what would you guys suggest as far as that goes?
-
ah ok... that makes sence. heres a few shots of the bike i took today.
-
i think ill take your guys' advice on the stock bore. ill go ahead and stick to a standard bore and order a rebuild kit for one. anyone have any suggestions on a brand?? should i use a higher compression piston set etc?? where do i go to order a kit from?? any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. ill get more info on the bike as soon as i go pick it up. i beleive it already has a port job on it (wich last time i rode it it was pretty damn fast... (in case you guys wonder how i rode it is due to the bike belonging to a neighbor of mine. im waiting for him to clear out the area so i can roll it out later this week.) once i get it ill take the motor appart and snap a shot of the porting on it and see what you guys think. ill do as you guys suggested and run all the nice bolt ons to bump the power. the motor as far as i know is pretty much still stock otherwise. (head, comp ratio etc,) i think my buddy did a set of toomey pipes way back when he got the bike, then rejetted. thats it. ill see if i can go over and snap some photos of it. i need to get it torn down to the bare frame by this weekend tho, cus i just got another freind that hooked me up with a powdercoat place so long as we turn in our frames at the same time. by the way, thanks for all the help guys... im really getting geared up for this build! :baseball_w00t:

thanks animalman. yea, im searching in "sponge mode" reading on evrything i see and seeing what people have done, experienced and such. also looking through some of the vendors kits that even have a pre-ported cylinder kit such as a 404 kit ive seen has all new sleeves, pistons etc and is all match ported for certain uses and such. guess i just gotta read up more and compare. i still have a few days before the bike gets here.
-
yeah, its what im thinking but at the same time, im already there so i think to myself why not go a little bigger? i could just do bore over and then do the 2 into 1 carb and work around the bike instead.... but thats where i have the indecision of which way to take it.
-
yea, so ive heard tho this bike was already ported back in the day. last time i seen it run it was one of the faster bikes out at the dunes..... it may need to be redone but who would you suggest i take the head out to for a good port job? anyone near san diego?? theres about a billion diffrent shops in or around town but i have no idea of who may be good or not. more then likely i can tell them what ill be doing with the bike and will know what kinda porting job to have done to it. tithead- thanks for the welcome. ill get some pictures of the bike once i get it over here. although i guess i can show off my other bike in the mean time.
-
to be honest, im not too sure. i dont wanna go broke rebuilding the bike but at the same time i think can afford some sort of a big bore upgrade. im just not sure who's, what, and where to get a good kit from. i want to be able to order the kit without it needing something else to be ordered, (example: ordering a kit that has evrything but a certain gasket or what not) in other words, i'd like to be able to order a kit in where i have evrything needed to do the big bore deal. drop it off to have the cylinder bores machined, matched and honed for the kit i order. know what i mean? id like to keep it simple to where i dont hve cooling issues or where it might sacrifice reliablitiy. this bike is gonna be built twards the sand. race the hill, drags, that sort of thing. i dont need to be the fastest guy there. just enough to have fun and scoot. the bike was pretty darn fast before one of the rings finally gave way so i know any bore out will only make it just a bit more fun. with this in mind, is there something out there you would recommend? any specific brand?
