  1. This past weekend brought my new 4mil to glamis. (already broken in). Unload the bike out of the truck and warm it up. Race up the hill 3 times. Not racing anyone but certainly running it hard. On the 4th time up hit 5th gear pinned and it shuts off. Not a boom or any crunching metal but it clicked off. I coasted back down to the truck. I proceed to check all the basics, Gas, gas on, has water, etc. I sit at the truck and kick the shit out of it, it rumbles a little and i could get it started with both chokes on. Once i turn the chokes off and let it calm down it bogs and dies. We play with the CDI(stock) wiring, I even swapped out another CDI(Stock) I got it running again and raced the hill a 5th time, same thing happened fith gear pinned and it dies, no noise this time just bogs and dies. When i get back to the truck i try the same thing. However when you kick it now it feels as though it has zero compression. My question is now what? No compression and this problem. Could it be the reeds? Piston ring? help. I'm taking it apart this week and would like any feedback from you 4 mil pros! If it helps i have a the trinity stage 4 heads, override, 38mm gas carbs.
  2. I would love to man but will probably be at olds/racing and watching! Swing through olds on your way!
  3. I wouldnt worry to much about the spark arrestors. When you get to the hill and see all the bikes with the drag pipes you will understand. None of my four strokes have spark arrestors either. Rangers really dont bother you unless you ask for it. Use a flag, ride smart, and enjoy! We camp at wash 10. I will be at olds on Saturday for most of the day hanging out. White chevy lifted with a texas longhorn flag in the back!
  4. Drag race = sure MX = no way. Simple as that. the bolt on stuff i would never ride with one of those. Pick where you ride the bike the most and pick your swinger based on that. I drag race only i have a plus 8 with 10 paddle if this helps.
  5. A ton of companies make aftermarket J's. But your right for the money why bother. I would just sell the bike and buy a 90s model. My 87 takes the whoops no problem though at the dunes! No doubles or triples at the track though, i have the yfz 450 for that! Its like trying to make a race car out of a station wagon.........with enough parts and modifications you could make it work buy why?
  6. Put everything back together, light works, starts and runs, but the switch to cut the bike off doesnt. Does this mean to keep running the bike or what! In all reality I dont see what i missed in wiring, but anyone ever see this?
  7. same here, broke my cub in last weekend at Gordons well. Heading to glamis tommorow night. Hopefully the bike will run well at the hill on Saturday. That is until some kid that weighs 100 pounds beats me. Then i go back to truck and grab a beer, and wait for some big fat guy on a Kawasaki 700 to jump in and race with!

    Need J-arms

I have a stock set chromed. Ball joints are workable but definently not new. Chrome looks decent.
  9. That polaris looks pretty decent though. The kid on the 450 looks to weigh a tad bit less then the rider on the polaris as well. Who knows, it could win some races if tuned right and had someones 105lb kid on it.
  10. Many will disagree with me on this but if you are into XC or MX sell the banshee. I know, I know, but its the truth and sometimes the truth hurts. I have a banshee and it only is a dune/drag/wide open bike. For the Track and racing desert i have a 450 yama quad and its great. Dont get me wrong you can always order suspension/shocks/motor work to help but i chose not too. Sorry for the bad info if you take it!
  11. True. My drag banshee goes up the hill thats it. The only bumps it sees are on and off the trailer. Lighter weight too. I used to jump the J-arm banshees as a kid never had a problem, but never probably going that high. Imo if you are hardcore riding, jumping, track , etc go for the A-arms. If you are a duner or not so much of a racer go J-arms. Mine are sweet Chrome one offs and i think they look a ton better.
  12. Gordons Well this weekend to break in the Cub. Anyone going to be out?
  13. How does the 400 come into this? We are talking about an 1800 pound, automatic, and a Kawasaki none the less! It aint happening period. :: I have see a couple of the bored out kawasakie 700-800 run and while they are no slouch, they still are not in the same ballpark as a cub banshee, note even the same leage, probably not even the same sport!
  14. For those of you who have the dyna on your 421 cubs. how do you like them? I have stock CDI and coil. I will be breaking in the bike this weekend. After Break in we are throwing it on the dyno. I'd be curious to see if there is any gain. If anyone has a dyna or coil id be happy to throw it on. If it works i'll buy it! Sorry to change the thread about break in. but for me it relates!

    Front tires.

Dont worry about it at all. Although i have alway bought the sand tires for front. I have found that the bigger balloon looking fronts will help you float on top of the sand, or you have the super skinny small tire which i use for racing the hill which are nice and small, light weight, etc. Pick your poison.
  16. Your weight and the bike difference will crush your buddies hopes and dreams. What are you guys racing? Dunes? Hill? Street? Even with a bad start i dont see how he woud win? Both you and your bike are lighter. Should be fun though, make it look good, keep him close and enjoy it!
  17. In the pic isnt the 450 winning? My only advice is lose weight, the bike and yourself. The weight to HP ration is very key. 2nd would be gearing. Gear for what you will race. Think Thin!
  18. I could do a ride with my 450. My banshee doesnt get the best gas mileage! We always park at the hill and ride from olds. Beer, Food, hang out etc. etc. Believe me just cause i hang on that side does not mean I'm fast. I need to have a kid so that way i can have his 105 pound ass race for me!
  19. same here on the 10 paddle Ul's
  20. I will be on the fast side of the hill with my finally finished banshee. Look for a white Duramax with a huge Texas Longhorn flag flying out the back. Grab a beer! We hang all day at the hill and then on to the drags at about 4:00
  21. I'm breaking in my cub as well this weekend. I was told 10 gallons of easy riding not pinned throttle. Plenty of heat cycles then cool all the way down!
  22. Its weird. On dirtbikes i never thought of a thumb throttle. HMMM For some reason a twist throttle might not be great with the jerky hit of the banshee powerband. I dont know though. My thumb always hurts by the end of a long weekend.
