Gotcha. Here's one to make up for it.

You could hot wire it. But the dealer can get u a new switch and key for about $50. That's what I would do. No need to bubba up ur bike like that, then anyone can take it for a spin without the key. My 2cents

I doubt it's the stator or flywheel. It sounds like a carb/reed/intake problem. An air leak is the likely culprit if u have already closely inspected the reeds. A reed/intake gasket leaking would make it run leaner on that side, aka popping. Good luck.

agreed. What u describe is a rich condition not a lean one. What is the screw set at now?

Basically u can port the cylinder ports for the biggest difference. Some people will port the transfer ports on the case too. It has nothing to do with the bore of the cylinder. Damn some pictures would really help here. Someone else will hopefully chime in.

Did u try turning the air/fuel mixture screw in like suggested?

Did u make the little U shaped thing outta wood to put between the bottom of the piston and the case to help slide the cylinder on? Like they show in the Clymers manual? I find that to really help. And yea, I just use a lil flat blade to push the clips in.
