stock banshee stability in the 1/8th
96bansheepilot replied to LIM_Whiteboy4life's topic in Drag Forum
u r not gonna over rev w/ a stock gear and 20's. also i was refering to a link for the rear. you would keep your shock and suspension for the rear.. it would just lower the rear of the bike. -
stock banshee stability in the 1/8th

yeah, u should be better than 9.6...... prob. low 9's......with just about 50 bucks, u could probably shave a few more tenths by getting some solid struts from lowes for the front. i used 1.25" square steel bar sold in there metal and steel section(15.00). i cut them to identical lengths (13" from eyelet to eyelet) and they bolt right in.........as for the rear, u can get a lowering link(35.00 on ebay). .........by the way, those 22's in the rear will kill you.....get 20's.....much lighter. but if you get them just for drag, u may as well get american racers. by the way, i started out just like u and now i have a full blown drag bike and a spare stock shee for the dirt. i was hooked after one trip!!!! -
wow, good to see the flyer gettin around. i was just spreadin the word at my local track here in florida. sunshine dragstrip. the more i think about it, the more eager i get.
-
there is no way in the world!!!very high 8's if he's lucky!!!! just piped shees arent that fast
-
man i would love to sand drag if it were closer but if i get a free night, i spend it asphalt draggin. goin to lakeland or sunshine in the next 2-3 wks. i'll let u know when in go...gotta get my new lock up installed and workin great before i hit the track again. just ordered it through ebay...should be hittin my door in a week or so from cali. when i get my bike tuned, it should be pretty quick. hopefully gettin some marvin shaws soon too.
-
well here are the pics...by the way the wheels/tire, nerfs, axle, frt bumper, and swingarm skid are from my other banshee..........enjoy..sorry took so long to post. not that anybody cares...

hey, not sure if anyone has ever done this but....i just installed new bearings and seals in my stock carrier. well i forgot to put the long tube spacer in the middle. i can' just take the bearings and seals out w/out damaging them. from what i see, i don't need it. the bearings are pressed in and the will not move further in on the axle because there is a lip there to prevent that. when i took the carrier off, the spacer was just freely moving in the middle and didn't seem to do anything at all but just sit there. i think i'm going to try it and see what it does. anyone disagree? if so, why?

i wouldn't worry about that turbo crap. i seriously doubt the dude is gettin a turbo. that is an incredible mod and is very rare. definitely not for 400 bucks either. if your porting is even "o.k.", you should eat him up. especially on asphalt, but if you are both on dirt or sand it might take a few gears to start pulling on him. (too much wheel spin)
-
i have only put about 200.00 in the bike since i got it. it is great. a lot of the parts came from the drag bike. (axle, wheels and tires, pro flo kit) i have bought all new brake pads, clutch lever, axle bearings and seals, a-arm bushings, chain slider kit and painted a few things.
-
i have a few more for your viewing pleasure. pleanty of drag footage. i'll post them when i get a chance at home.
-
i have a video of a toomey piped bike vs. a stock banshee on my post under drag forum titled "just bought banshee for $1200" check it. riders are very close in skill. not too much difference.....

here we go.... http://s156.photobucket.com/albums/t40/96b...nt=100_2911.flv

here is a video of the stk banshee i bought for 1200.00. it is the blue one on the left. the black shee is equipped w/ cool head, toomeys and intake. that is all for performace. oh yeah a degree key and some pro lites. by the way, the stk bike has 18" rears. wait a second. i have photo bucket but how the heck do you post a video????????
-
also if you are runnin 20" rear tires......your only goin about 70mph in fourth with that gear....it just feels fast.
-
hmmm. i'd have to see that. maybe a little exageration.... i could see your bike beating the other bikes listed but not "leaving them"....unless you are racin some jabrones. especially if you have clutch aaannndd jetting problems. good job anyways!

i wish i could post pics but i don't know how. i'll put some time in it and learn. i know there is a post on that subject. just rode it yesterday for the first time. i tell you what, that things hauls even for stock. freindly powerband. i'll get some pics up soon. it needs axle bearings and a-arm bushings. also needs chain rollers. i'll get 'er whipped into shape real soon. no it wasn't the one in the flyer. bought it from a buddy.
-
i even have my old ported stock cyl's w/ pistons and some extra domes for when i want to get another head. the big items to be bought are pipes. want t-5's.
-
just bought an '01 banshee bone stock for 1200. had to get it at this steal. just needs axle bearings and a arm bushings but don't they all at one point or another. i'm excited to get workin on it. finally i have a street drag bike and a dirt and trail bike. i have pleanty from my old bike to upgrade this one. (axle, pro flo intake, +4 key, billet shifter, rad valves, nerfs, wheels and tires, swing arm guard, dirt digger clutch, and misc. parts, all that came of the drag bike.) just thought i'd share my good luck w/ u guys.

clutch adjustment.......
96bansheepilot replied to 96bansheepilot's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
thanks bud, i think i just take things for granted sometimes. i know my bike real well but you know, some times you have to go back to the clymer fundementals....... -
maybe check the alignment of the axle and if it sounds like every link then it has to be your chain. or take the chain off and start the bike and put it in gear and let the clutch out and see if their is any noise. that should eliminate the chain if it is your tranny.
