  1. No it was fine, I guess I got lucky. It completely destroyed the pickup, all 3 bolts were in pieces, and it took a few nice pieces off my flywheel... The shop that installed it failed to use locktite.
  2. I had the same thing happen to me a couple weeks ago. It really sucked, the sound it made freaked me out when it happened, lol.
  3. well that is just another element of the ride, the un-expected. If everything was smooth and perfect it wouldn't be very fun... unless your a drag guy, then smooth and perfect is the way to go. As long as you have a good pair of lights your good to go.
  4. this should have been a poll
  5. My favorite is Motul 800, always works great, very little smoke, and its colored red which makes it a bit easier to tell if its straight gas or mixed gas. Castor 927 is very good to, that would be my second choice.
  6. hm thats a bit to hot for me, I think the hottest I could stand would be around 90. Hey you could always ride at night, it will be nice then!
  7. I have had the Holeshot HD's front and back for over 2 years now and they still have a ton of tread on them. really strong great grip (or as great of grip you can get with a Banshee). I Highly recommend those.
  8. That thing looks great, I have the same cap on mine but it is all polished. I like them much better than the stock gas caps, they seem to come off much easier and smoother.
  9. Sorry that was actually my mistake. I just ordered some Wiseco Pro Light Pistons that are .020 Over not .040 over like I said before. They are going to send them when they receive the 64mm ones that I am exchanging. What kind of power should I be expecting with a new top end (its first top end in 16 years) and an aggressive dune port? It has stock pipes, stock head, and stock carburetors. I am guessing not much without some new pipes, but how much power should I expect if I had pipes with the mod I am having done?
  10. Wow that is a big help, I didn't think they warranted those kinds of parts. Do they have warranties on there other parts? My entire electrical system is from them (cdi, coil, pickup, stator, regulator) except for the Wiring harness which is from Yamaha. I found a local guy (Pete from Sun City, Cant remember what he calls his shop) that runs a small shop out of his garage, I talked to some local guys with Banshees of all sorts and they all said he is one of the best around here. I am going to bring over my Banshee to him next week on friday, he is going to send out my jugs to get bored and honed to 65mm. He also talked me into getting a Aggressive Dune Port that he will do, I figure the jugs are off so why not?!? Once he gets the jugs back and finishes the aggressive dune port he is going to go through the electrical system and find out what is causing my electrical problem... Now all I have to do is get some pipes and possibly carbs to go with the port biggrin.gif . Also does anyone know if Rocky Mountain ATV will take back Pistons? I bought some 64mm pistons from them a few days ago, and now I need to exchange them for 65mm.
  11. I have always liked these two http://www.rickystator.com/catalog/product...products_id=311 http://www.rickystator.com/catalog/product...products_id=298 Big and bright. You may also want to get a a new voltage regulator to be on the safe side, one such as this. http://www.rickystator.com/catalog/product...;products_id=85
  12. FireHead  dajogejr  2bzy2p  That was a very entertaining argument.
  13. I just got my new top end kit today (Wiseco pistons, NGK B8EG Spark plugs, Wristpin Bearings, Gasket Kit, and some 80W Gear Saver Trans Oil). I pulled off the jugs took off the old pistons put the new pistons on. I tried to get the jugs back on for about an hour and gave up, they just wont fit. I have never had that problem before with my dirt bike or any of my friends topends that I have done, this is the first time I have tried to do a Banshee top end though... and I am pretty sure this is the first new top end that my Banshee has ever had. Tomorrow I am just going to bring my Banshee over to 79 South Motorsports and just have them fix the whole thing, I am giving up on fixing it myself for now. I have to pay a lot more to have them fix it but I figure they get it done rite and then hopefully it wont break down anymore.
  14. O ok, well damn. I was hoping that my new top end kit that is going to arrive tomorrow was going to fix everything lol. Well it looks like I am going to have to throw more money into this bottomless pit called a Banshee to get it working again. I love my Banshee but when I have to put this much cash into it over and over again just to make it work, it makes me feel like selling it and getting a new 450  .
  15. Chop the fronts for sure, I have had mine chopped for a long time and I have barley had any stuff flung up at me from the front tires, if you have goggles on it isn't a problem at all. I haven't cut my rears though and I don't think I will, the amount of dirt on the bottom of my rear fenders even after a short ride tells me that the rears do make a big difference, and it really doesn't look that bad with just the rears imo.
  16. I definitely recommend the Wiseco Pistons.. I have some arriving tomorrow for my Banshee from Rocky Mountain ATV.. I have used them many times for my 2001 rm125 and they have never failed, bike works great to this day, never had one problem.
  17. Yeah, if it isn't the slightly damaged stator or flywheel than it has to be the ignition coil. If it is bad ill have to see if Ricky Stator will send me a new one for free or something. I am really hoping that it isn't the CDI, this problem seems to be reminiscent of my last problem, which ended up being the CDI... No one has answered my first question though.. Does compression affect spark?
  18. Both sides spark, I am not sure if they spark at the same time because it is very hard to hold two spark plugs on the head and kick it over at the same time, but both sides do spark.. I haven't checked the gap yet, ill have to do that.. It looks pretty close, I don't have a gap thing so I will have to pick one up at AutoZone or something today. I am pretty certain that all the T.O.R.S. wires are properly taped off, I am going to unwrap my wiring harness and double check all the connections.
  19. About two weeks ago the bolts that held on the timing plate backed out and took a nice chunk out of the pickup and took a piece off of the the metal rectangle on the flywheel (don't know what thats called lol). I had Rancho Motorsports put the stator and timing plate on about a month or two ago and clearly they did not use locktight... One more reason why I HATE Rancho Motorsports and refuse to even walk in there store and I encourage everyone I know to NOT go there for anything. A few weeks later I had 79 South Motorsports fix all the damage (drill and tap the timing plate holes up to the next size and replace the pickup coil). After that it still would not start, they told me it was the ignition coil, so I brought my Banshee back home and ordered the pickup coil from Ricky Stator and replaced it. After I replaced it, it would start after about 15+ kicks and it seemed to run fine, but whenever I would turn it off I would have a heck of a time starting it back up. After that, that is when I brought it to Mexico and it stopped working for good. After that I took apart the flywheel it appears that some of the loose bolts scraped the inside of the flywheel and the top of the stator. I lightly sanded the top of the stator and the inside of the flywheel till it was smooth again, but it did not help. Do you think that these scrapings may have damaged the Stator or Flywheel?
  20. My Banshee has a spark issue. I brought it to Rosarito Mexico on Friday. I have had a really hard time starting it lately, I got it started after 20+ kicks and went to the dunes to ride. Everything seemed fine until I stopped and let it idle, when I went to go again I tried to rev up the engine but it would just bog, then it finally died. After that I could not get it started again and ended up having to push it back home. Once I got it home I trouble shot the problem, Cleaned out the carburetors, made sure the fuel was good, checked the spark plugs, and checked for spark. I found that it would only spark sometimes, every 8 kicks or so. What would cause this? The Ignition coil is about 6 days old. The stator and CDI are about 2 months old. Would the engines compression affect the spark? Last I checked the cylinders had about 110 psi of compression and that was about 15 hours of riding ago.
  21. lol, well I guess I gotta give you that one
  22. speeling.. whats speeling?? I think you mean spelling  ha ha just messin
  23. why would anyone even want to hack this site? I have bansheehq set to my favorites as well and I saw that Baron thing as well.
  24. Well it looks like I am not going to be able to bring my Banshee to Ocotillo this weekend  , I guess I will have to bring my dirt bike instead. When I get back I am just going to let RatBike have it and get it running rite because I am sick of trying to fix it, and every time I need a part I have to go to San Diego because Temecula Motor sports and all of the other Yamaha dealers around here never have the part I need.
