Has the Banshee just outlived its time? XC/HS
LiftdT4R replied to banskie's topic in XC/Hare Scramble Forum
Damn, anyone in NJ have a TRX I can try out. I never heard that much about them before, and the couple kids that came upstate with us that had them, didn't try to play them up or anything, but I'm kinda wantin' to pick one up now. -
Ohh, not a bad deal at all, the 250rs took a hit though, with all the new 450s out they don't seem to be commanding as much $$$ as they used to. Also, there arent too many R riders here, I'd try planet sand too, and I know there was a 250R sight, I just can't think of the name of it.

Damn, I gotta give a TRX a shot, the YFZ is my brothers, and he has a good 50lbs and 6" on me, so even if he had it set up for his weight, it wouldt be right for me. I remeber a few eyars ago when everyone was racing a Leager 250r, they were the weapon of choice for a long time. I wasn't overly impressed with the YFZ, I know when he blew the bottom end(common problem with oil lube), it cost him a fortune have it all repaired, because he couldnt do the work himself. Also, he's piped and jetted with some holeshots, and I would beat him no problem in a straight line drag through all the gears with my 02. And I definately held my own in the trails too. He's a better rider then me, he has me by 5 years experience or so. He spent around 6-7k total on the bike before the bottom end went, and I only have maybe 4k into my banshee( I bought my shee used, and he bought his YFZ new). I would much rather air out my shee any day of the week. But, I know we are talking about GNCC here, and like I said I don't compete, so I don't know how much of this is going to matter to the thread starter, just my .02 so far. How serious are you going to be about the racing? As long as your not gonna run pro classes, and just some amateur stuff, I think you can build a pretty competetive shee for a decent price. Maybe some more MXers will chime in here. -
Damn, that shit sucks! I'm white, and I drive a sedan during the week, so cops usually leave me alone. :yelrotflmao: But, yeah, definately plead not guilty, and go to court, they will most likely reduce, or drop them, they do here anyway. We have a judge, we call "Let 'em leave Steve", if you get any ticket in Piscataway, you cvan get off of it. This guy prolly woulda let OJ off. :yelrotflmao: Good luck though bro, sorry to hear about that, ohh and what the hell are you riding with the tires sticking out 1" I have a 6" lift on my F250 with 37s, and they don't stick out past the flares.

Damn you really think so? I used to own a stock 660 Raptor, and my brother has a stock YFZ, I think my banshee with +2+1 arms, -1 swinger, and full works suspension handled a lot better through trails then both of them. Ive never ridden a TRX, but I have no problem keeping up with them in the trails. I don;t know, the YFZ and Rappy sat way too high for me, but I'm only 5'6", 140lbs, also It really seemed like I had to strect out on them to reach the bars and the nerfs. The ride was stiff IMO, and the rebound was too quick on all the shocks. My banshee with all the works shit held it's own, it was no where near a 250r, but I could kick it around pretty easy, and always kept it in the right direction. Like I said, I don't compete, and I don't keep up with GNCCs that much, but from my experience my banshee has done very well trail riding, even through the tight stuff. -
:yelrotflmao: I woulda beat you to it if it was, I saw this first thing this morning.

I'm going to diagree, you probably won't get much for the banshee, and then assuming you bought a brand enw bike, and thre some mods on it, you would definately have been better off to mod the shee. You can get some decent useable power out of these bikes, there are several people on here that race GNCC with them, and I think a lot of it boils down to preference. The geometry of the frame sucks, but go -1 swinger, wider axles and a-arms, and you will have a decent handling bike, I think mine was on par with a stock YFZ, when I had my my works shocks on it. Also, if you plan on working on the bike yourself, a lot of the negine work on the new 4strokes is impossible unless you have a really great garage setup. Most of the ebarings are pressed into the cases, and the parts are going to be expensive. The banshee will be by far easier and cheaper to work on. There are some nasty GNCC bikes on here, go under the MX section, and there is a post called Post Your Beast, to give you some ideas. I don't race my bike, I run power line cuts in NY, and some trails down here in NJ, I don't ride with professionals, but I have never had a problem keeping up with any bike. My buddies have just about everything from DSs to 250Rs to YFZs and TRXs. And I had my bike with +4 timing, FMFs, +2+1 arms, and Works suspension, and I would run hard all day long, and be just as fast if not faster through any portion of the trails. Just my .02, also, I would wait for some more feedback before making a decision, a lot of the previous posts were from drag guys, I'm sure some MXers will chime in. -
Happy Birthday! Gotta love that sig!

By the way, I see someone moved your wrothless thread from website issues to the rosstin' room. I think they're tryin to tell you something. :yelrotflmao: Like I said, the members do most of the mod work on these boards, if someone posts something amazingly fucking retarded, we usually send 'em home cryin to mommy.
-
Ohhhhh no he didn't :yelrotflmao: That's a good one. This dude is such a badass, stuntin' in the burbs, you know it must be so tough. :yelrotflmao:

Hey Everyone A little help please
LiftdT4R replied to Banshee Chick's topic in General Banshee Discussion
Yeah, I second that. Actions speak louder then words, go romp them around a track on your shee, and that will shut them up. -
Nice, good choice over the Ford! Any work done yet?

The banshee frame is a lot more solid then the new YFZ frames, but when I stripped mine down, I noticed chipped paint and very light cracks near so of the joints in the frame, mostly up front. The frame is a 93 or 94, with an 01 engine in it, so it has been flogged for 14 or 15 years now, and rolled a few times I'm sure. I ditched the frame, and picked up a newer one, but I definately want to keep the bike I'm building for a long long time. That's why I wanna gusset it. The steering hoop is a must, as well as the sub frame, the stuff up front should be nice to do, just more of an insurance policy I guess. It might be hard to find a good banshee frame in a few years, so I want to build one now, myself that I can keep for a long long time.
-
I need the engine for my project shee, and the frame and everything is going to a buddy, all I have left is a stock swinger, stock a-arms, steering stem, and a beat set of tires.

Awesome guy to deal with, gave me a good price on a crank bearing and seal kit! Would do business with again!
-
I'll second that, bought some motor mounts off him a while back. Good guy to deal with!
-
Was that your expedition in those pics? Looks sweet, why your tearin everything out? Bump, Jeff is a real good guy to deal with!
-
Got it today man, thanks! Is it ok to leave the grooves or should I file them out? I'm just worried about the pull of the clutch, I don't want the plates to get hung up there. I'm running a basically stock engine except for pipes. Thanks, Jay

Just to let you know, I just ordered a full guset kit for the Banshee from Tarantula Racing, they will have them for sale on their site by the end of the month. You can check them out here: www.tprusa.com Super easy to deal with too, they had a banshee frame in house and they;re drawing it up now. Not bad at $89.95 either.

Just wanted to let yall know, I dealt with Tarantula racing, www.tprusa.com they make a ton of custom laser cut parts, and they are friggin' awesome. I had him make me a gusset kit for my shee, which will be for sale on their site at the end of the month. $89.95 plus shipping, and they were super easy to deal with, they make custom bumpers, grab bars, etc. all at very fair prices!

Rerouted my coolant overflow line
LiftdT4R replied to differentstrokes's topic in Banshee Repairs and Mods
Yeah, I agree, ever cut a radiator line by accident? Or take off the radiator cap when you werent supposed to? Fuckin' water blows out pretty far, I think this is a god mod. Just wondering though, you did away with the coolant overflow right? I'm still in love with that bike, think it's gonna be my inspiration when I build mine. Probably keeping my fenders though. -
Good point, I think that's why most of the woods racers don't mind it as much. I know on that cub you had, the powerband must have hit like a ton of bricks! On my stocker with FMFs, +4 timing, the powerband was porbably a little smoother to say the least. The twist throttle never really bothered me. Also, I heard a few times that the reason for the thumb throttle on ATVs, and snobiles, vs. the twist on bikes is because when you ride a bike, you grip the bike with your legs, wheras on an ATV, you can't do that, you have to grip the ATV with your arms at the handle bars, which supposedly makes the twist on an ATV harder to use, and the thumb throttle on a bike completely pointless. I always liked the throttle onthe Bombardier jet skis. I have an XP, and I guess you could say it's a thumb throttle, but it is positioned over the grip, so when you hit wide open, the throttle lines up perfectly with the grip, very easy to use, and hardly any fatigue. If anyone has a Bombardier, they'll know what Im talking about, I can grab a pic if need be. I've always though about ordering one and putting it on a quad, but I have no clue where youd get a throttle cable for that, or how I would mount it up. A good idea nonetheless.

That's a neat idea, I'm guessing your not using a resvoir anymore right? I love the look of that bike, I saw it in the bumper thread, had me drewling.
